Governor Crist Jumps the Shark

The first winner of the prestigious ‘Jump the Shark’ award, given to that politician or other notable figure  who through their actions or public statements has made a total buffoon of themselves and anyone who carries their water – is our esteemed Governor Charlie Crist.  Not only has he been selected for the honor this week, we’re going to retroactively select him for last week’s award as well, even though The Shark Tank was still in pre-launch phase. This is truly an impressive accomplishment for the Governor was only possible through his determined efforts.  Let’s refresh your memory…

Last week, Governor Crist’s began his high-spin misinformation campaign by plastering radio ads all over the state in which he defended his so called “conservatism”. Apparently, Charlie felt the need to run the ads to shore up his both his flagging campaign and his sinking polling numbers, as he continues to lose ground to his primary opponent, Marco Rubio.  But it’s the claims that Charlie makes in the ad that truly jumped the shark, and it is safe to say that these ads are backfiring on the Chuckster. In the ads, Crist had the audacity to bash President Barack Hussein Obama for his reckless government spending. Come again, Charlie?  Was that not you holding a pep rally with Obama for the stimulus plan back in February?   Maybe that was your stunt double who man-hugged the President on that fateful day in Fort Myers too.  Whatever.  Chuckles, if you are going to criticize the President’s reckless spending, truth in advertising demands that your next ad – paid for by Charlie Crist for Senate-  should criticize your own support of Obama’s reckless spending, along with your dishonesty.

But the follies continued.  Next, the Governor decided to boast that the conservative/libertarian think tank, The Cato Institute named him the most fiscally conservative Governor in the country back in 2008. The author of the report at the Cato Institute quickly issued response to Crist’s very questionable ads, quoting him, “…since I wrote the report in mid-2008, the governor seems to have fallen off the fiscal responsibility horse”. This statement by the Cato Institute is nothing less than a well placed slap in the face to Crist, not to mention an utter embarrassment.

That brings us to this week’s major faux pas by Charlie.  The first attack ad on US Senate candidate Marco Rubio has finally been sprung- but with no attribution.  The web site truthaboutrubio.com was created by someone by the name of Mr. Anonymous. Mr. Anonymous’ managed to keep his anonymity clandestine for about two minutes. This clown failed to cover all of his tracks when he published his poorly developed and amateurish looking site.

Upon further investigation, it appears that Mr. Anonymous is moonlighting as one of Governor Crist’s top advisers!  The dirty trickster responsible for the site is apparently Rich Heffley, a top adviser to Crist senate campaign. Our good friend Erick Erickson over at Redstate uncovered the plot yesterday.  So, what did Charlie know, and when did he know it?  Did Charlie conspire with Heffley?  It appears so.  Could Charlie could be in deep doo-doo with the FEC? The Governor  is denying any knowledge of who is behind this site. But now that it’s pretty clear that the Governor did have knowledge of this website, given his relationship with Heffley. Andwhy would Heffley release it without thinking about the backlash that could, and did come from it?  And where is Jim Greer these days?  Heffley is using RPOF office space as a platform for his amateurish blogging career.  This regrettable blog e should have included the disclaimer- AUTHORIZED AND PAID FOR BY THE RPOF.  That’s your Republican Party of Florida @ work these days- paying good money to undermine conservative candidates that threaten the corrupt establishment.

On top of all this, Charlie continues to put even more LOL quotes on the record to add to his already impressive collection.  Earlier this week,  he stated that he did not know that President Barack Hussein Obama was in the state on Monday. Say what?! Convenient for him to say that since the last time Obama was in town, Crist was wrapping his arms around him and giving him that previously mentioned chest bump.

It’s all in a weeks’ work for Chuckles the Clown, as he scrambles to do damage control for his floundering Senatorial campaign, truth and integrity be damned.  Governor Charlie Crist- you’ve jumped the shark!
