Five-Term Congressman Adam Putnam has decided to leave Washington D.C. to run for the vacated Commissioner of Agriculture Cabinet Post later this November. Congressman Putnam, a native of Bartow, Florida, is married to his wife Melissa and the father of four children. Putnam and his family have been involved in the agricultural industry for quite some time as citrus growers and cattlemen.
Congressman Putnam recently addressed the Broward Republican Executive Committee, and I caught up with him before his speech to put him on the record and get clarification about some of the more controversial issues he has recently opined about.

Congressman Adam Putnam should watch John Stossel’s report on Fox Business News concerning the huge waste of money for a high speed rail system prior to forming a positive opinion on that issue. Second,it is unfortunate that a lack of understanding of our economic system and the strong armed coersion of Washington politics swayed Congressman Putnam’s vote in favor of TARP. Upon the adoption of the Federal Reserve in 1913, the big banker escape plan for their malinvestments was and has always been “The Bailout”. The big banker or as I call
them; “Banksters”, will always win through extortion.
Perhaps now, we will elect a conservative to take his place in Congress, and disallow his election as Commissioner.
Senator Carey Baker (R-20), is also a candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture and he has just won the straw poll conducted by the Republican Business Council of North Central Florida. These are leaders in Florida’s business community that support candidates for office who are dedicated to the principles of “limited government, free market capitalism and fiscal responsibility.” After comparing the records of the candidates in the race for Agriculture Commissioner, Sen. Carey Baker was the overwhelming choice of voters in the organization’s January 27th straw poll, defeating Rep. Adam Putnam by a vote of 93-35.
Putnam is in his 5th term in congress. According to the non-partisan National Taxpayers Union, his voting record is a long way from NTU’s Taxpayers Friend rating and he is huge porker. The Club for Growth reports on their “RePork Card” that Adam voted against only 18% of anti-pork bills, voting against only 12 of the 68 presented by conservatives in Congress. Not a good trait for a Commissioner.
Carey Baker is the best choice for Agricultural Commissioner. I like his business experience contrasted to Putnam’s 10 years in Congress and he is only 35 so has had little or no real life experience outside of Congress.
He knows he wont be re-elected. He is jumping ship while he can. With this, he will keep on milking the same old cow, but from different angle.
Thank you, Shark Tank for this video. Finally with out a doubt Congressman Putnam has demonstrated, in his own words why the real grassroots isn’t supporting him. He is the establishment candidate, plain and simple. He subscribes to the notion that government actually manages the economy, rather then refereeing a level playing field. He has shown his belief that picking winners and losers is within his jurisdiction and dictating rules (regulating) beyond basic competition and consumer protections. The Bank Bailout was the impetus of the ground swell of the Tea Parties. Rep. Putnam not only voted for it, but was 3rd in leadership advocating passage. Observing his record past and present blatantly shows his disregard for any consistency of fiscal principles. Knowingly or not Rep. Putnam is a Keynesian proponent, economics that are diametrically opposed to the free market. His willingness to advocate governmental interference into the business world at minimum makes him a interventionist, at worse a Progressive Republican. Thankfully we have another Republican running, who is a fiscal conservative that understands governments role in the economy, Sen. Carey Baker. Do not allow a polished speaker distort the facts, Rep. Putnam may just be the Obama of the Republican Party. We deserve more then another wonderful orator with flawed understanding of the U.S. Constitution.
Since he authored an “Emergency Illigal Immigrant Amnesty Act” with Barbara Boxer of California and voted for TARP (Two times) and became the TARP National Spokesman… I had to look up his record up at politicalwatchdog.com. It doesn’t appear that he follows Constitutional voting. However, I’ve been told that he has been praised for his enthusiastic speeches of little content. I have asked conservatives in Polk County and it appears many are very unhappy with him representing them and that may be why he pulled out of the congressional race and began running in areas where he isn’t known (The rest of the state of Florida).
Putnum is a coward and the only office he should hold is that of a fry cook.oh wait never mind maybe unemployment is better suited for him.
I would like to know who ask Mr. Putman to run for ag. commissioner? These career politicians. These republicans are doing everything they can to squelch the citizen candidates who are listening to the people.Like the rail that he continues to refuse to hear what the voters repeatedly have spoken at the polls. His view on the financial condidtions is a shame.Clunkers for cars is another ledgerdomain. It took paid for cars in trade for cars with a payment that has since been repocessed because of cutbacks.Putman is a fool leading the sheep.
I don’t think that we won’t or need him to get back on the political merry-go-round. These politicians love to rotate from the state office to federal office and back again. He does not represent the “people” and from his voting record is a poor statesman.
Go home, Mr. Putman and enjoy your retirement pension from the government.
