Super Grover- Open Sesame Street to Illegals

February 24, 2010

Great times were had last week at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC),  but none were more fun than a panel discussion I sat in on regarding  Hispanic outreach. The organization sponsoring the Hispanic outreach session was American Principles Project.

The purpose of the session was to bring awareness to the fact that Hispanics are the largest and fastest growing demographic in the United States, and also to express the fact that Hispanics are here to stay. The real agenda was to promote amnesty for illegal immigrants that are in our country, say it with me now, ‘illegally’.

The panel consisted of Mexican Actress Karyme Lozano, Alfonso Aguilar, Mario Lopez(no, not the actor), and Grover Norquist. When I found out that Norquist was on the panel, a little alarm went off in my head about this session named ‘The Rise of Latino Conservatism’.

Mr. Norquist is a leading authority on tax issues. He is also known for wearing several different political hats.  Aside from being a tax guru, Norquist is a big advocate for granting amnesty for illegals, and he is on the record for doing so.

“We now have a Democratic president, an overwhelmingly Democratic Senate, an overwhelmingly Democratic House, and they’ve done nothing in the last year,” he said. “It was Republicans like [President] Reagan, that began, and Bush, which we said, that started to get a handle on coming up with a reasonable immigration policy that benefits the country.”-Grover Norquist (NEWSMAX)

But the fun doesn’t end there. ‘Super’ Grover Norquist started the Islamic Free Market Institute (a.k.a Islamic Institute) in 1998,where his wife, supergroverKuwaiti born Samaah Alrayyes Norquist directed the institute-The whole purpose of the institute was to bring Muslims into the Republican Party. One of Norquist’s past clients was Abdurahman Alamoudi, who is a convicted Terrorist now doing a long stint in prison for financing Terrorism.

Unfortunately, some associated with the Islamic Institute evidently had another agenda.  Abdurahman Alamoudi, for one, a self-described “supporter of Hamas and Hezbollah,” the prime-mover behind the American Muslim Council (AMC) and a number of other U.S.-based Islamist-sympathizing/supporting organizations, saw in the Islamic Institute a golden opportunity to hedge his bets.- Jihad Watch

But this is all in the past, let’s talk about the future and the vision that this panel has for reaching out to ‘Latinos’.

Their goal is simple- to grant amnesty. There were about 8 or so in my group that decided to attend this ‘pro-hispanic’ meeting, all of us were Hispanic with exception of two. It really was entertaining to see the panel spin their pro-amnesty rhetoric in a way to try to soften the blow.  Nice try, but everyone in the room sniffed out your true agenda. No matter how carefully they worded their talking points, they could not avoid bringing up how to help the illegal aliens, already here, ultimately gain amnesty.  This was truly embarrassing. One of my friends and fellow writing cohort , Angelette Aviles, was in attendance and decided to give her take on the meeting.
Hispanics at CPAC: It’s more than Immigration

The best was yet to come. The panel took questions at the end, so as your ever lovable, charismatic, and Hispanic to boot (see pic if you don’t believe me) correspondent, I decided that I needed to represent my adoring fans and ask a question or two. But before I could ask my question, thailandAlfonso Aguilar reiterated the position points of his organization. His rant almost made my head explode-there were  many questions I wanted to ask!  Let me just say that Mr. Lopez and Mr. Aguilar both mentioned that Conservatives need to lead by example- that Conservatives needed to take this issue by the horns, so to speak.

What the panel didn’t seem to understand is that these illegal immigrants are fleeing repressive and lawless countries to find happiness and order in our country. So I told them that this issue was not about being Conservative, Liberal, Republican or Democrat, it was about the rule of law in the United States. If you come here illegally, you need to get deported.  Even after I gave them the analogy that if I would enter  the country of France illegally, French officials would have me deported. I didn’t hear them crying foul anytime an American gets deported from another country for entering any other country illegally or overstaying their visa.

So I asked, ”Does your organizations’ vision of Latino-Hispanic outreach include amnesty for illegal immigrants?” Aguilar forcefully answered ,”NO!”  After giving  him my two cents, Aguilar then went on a long winded filibuster.  After that, “Super” Grover Norquist came to Aguilar’s rescue, and then the panel abruptly stopped taking anymore questions and ended the meeting.

In closing, let’s get something straight- the law is the law. If you want to come to the United States of America, then get in line and wait with the rest of the law-abiding people.

    No Amnesty For Illegals….No Way!!!!

    Love it! Norquist deserves it.

Numbers USA sent out an alert that the only speaker at CPAC who addressed illegal immigration was Jason Chaffetz; the rest avoided it like the plague. Apparently some of the promising candidates are being worked over by the establishment Republicans on the amnesty issue and they’re already caving to them.

People need to be extremely careful in who they endorse or vote for; they are not all what they seem. Thanks for exposing this duplicitous organization.

I’m from the UK and I was one of those law-abiding people who waited in line for over two years before I had the honor of becoming a Naturalized US citizen. Why? Because I respect the laws of my guest country and because I have a conscience and because I cannot expect to live at the expense of the hard working American taxpayers! Illegal means ILLEGAL…they are parasites. Period.

    Disgusted.

Very well written, and I couldn’t agree more! I come from immigrants myself, but my parents came in the legal way, and never lived off the system. This problem however is the Governments fault and not the illegals. There’s ways to enforce the laws. Every other country does this. Esp in Europe. You guys need to be on that panel and speak for us next year!

As an intern at the American Principles Project, I’m disgusted by this libel. APP doesn’t and never has supported amnesty. The Latino Outreach Project is an attempt to bring LEGAL residents from Latin America into the social conservative movement. Consider the stats of Latinos on right to life and family issues, and you’ll see that on these they are statistically more conservative than “generic” Americans are. Ronald Reagan said it best when he mentioned that they are conservatives who just don’t know it yet. In other words, if we can remind Latinos of this, the Conservative movement can have a permanent super-majority.

Take a peek at this. Your organization is not for Amnesty you say?

I don’t get your post at all. I even did a word search but “amnesty” never came up. Get your facts straight.

How can we reward with amnesty individuals who have broken our laws by entering our country illegaly?

  10. Geo says:

jAVIER, I READ THAT PAGE YOU CLAIM SAYS THAT APP IS FOR AMNESTY AND THE WORD IS NEVER MENTIONED. Their plan seems sensible. Tighten border control is #1 and find ways to legalize the illegals without giving them amnesty or citizenship. Guest worker programs are needed to avoid the illegal entry of so many workers –they come here and get work and medical care, etc. –in other words, they are encouraged by our own system to come here illegally. Now we have the responsibility to reform that system.

  11. @GEO #4 states legalize the undocumented!

    Is that not amnesty?

1.Strengthen Border Security. We must continue to strengthen border security to combat drug trafficking and discourage immigrants from risking their lives to cross illegally into the country.

2.Prioritize Internal Enforcement. Federal immigration enforcement resources and actions should focus on immigrants involved in criminal activity rather than workplace raids and “audits” that harm both workers and employers.

3.Legalize the Undocumented. The vast majority of undocumented immigrants are good, hard working people who are doing jobs Americans do not want or for which there are simply no Americans of working age available. We should establish a path for undocumented immigrants to earn legal status after paying a penalty for having entered the country illegally.
4.Create a Guest Worker Program. Immigrants are not competing with Americans for jobs. They are doing jobs that are vital to our economy, but that Americans, for various reasons, are not doing. The economic growth and stability of the nation depends on the capacity of American business and industry to recruit foreign workers as needed. Current work visa quotas are too limited and have been set arbitrarily by Congress. We must create a Guest Worker Program that allows for the entry of foreign workers as the needs of our economy dictate.

5.Promote Patriotic Assimilation. Immigrants who remain in the U.S. as permanent residents as well as those who become citizens should learn English, learn and identify with the principles upon which our country was founded, and study the basics of U.S history. New Americans’ attachment to the nation and our institutions is essential for the preservation of the social cohesion of our political community.

Political spin doctors have always impressed me. If I had half the skill I’m pretty sure instead of ever being punished I would have been rewarded growing up. Check out this link to a story about Harry Reid and his amazing spin doctoring http://bit.ly/bkfLRU
