RNC Secretary Sharon Day discusses the RPOF and Rubio v. Crist
Republican National Committee Secretary Sharon Day was nice enough to take time out of her busy day to sit down and talk to me about what the RNC plans to do this election year, and the recent Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) drama.
Day was leading the charge in asking for a forensic audit of the RPOF accounting records after Chairman Jim ‘Bozo’ Greer was booted from office. As Chairman Bozo stepped down, a special election was held to fill the position, and Sharon Day decided to run. Even though she came up a little short, Secretary Day, who is also the state committeewoman, ran a very spirited campaign to become the next Chairman of the RPOF.
I tried to get her to openly endorse Marco Rubio for the US Senate seat, but my questions fell on deaf ears. Day told me that in a contested primary, she would do what she always has done, wait for the primary election to be over.
She did however state that we needed new blood in the party-enough of the ‘good ol’ boy’ leadership. She also stated that the Republican Party needed to diversify and become more inclusive to all minority groups.

CHARLIE CRIST CHARLIE CRIST CHARLIE CRIST GET IT?!!!!
Ok, so what else is out there that “we all go down” for? Why would Greer make that threat and then the RFOP seem to take heed to that warning. Release Greer’s spending and cleanup the party at all levels. Go Rubio! Thanks Javier!
Excellent video, hey they should stay out until after the primary, but OUT completely! No undermining either. However truth and transparancy for one is good for all!
Let the people decide, and may it be our complete decision. Keep up the heat!!
Go Go Go!!!
Paula Dockery, Marco Rubio, Alan West, Yomin Postelnik, and whats her name for Dist 25 Fl Senate! ( ok so I cannot think of her name….) Paula is rocking, right now, I think Billy and Alex are eating dust!
Please. She was pivotal in the BREC endorsement of Crist in 2006. Always so “holier than thou”…
Sharon always makes sense. When she speaks she makes you want to support any one says to vote for. She is the BEST
Sharon is NOT making sense if she truly believes what the Republican Party needs is more “diversity”. We need Constitutional Conservatives! Find THEM, regardless of what color, or sex. ENOUGH, already with the “diversity” crud.
I hope Sharon Day runs again for Chairwomen of the RPOF. The party needs more of Sharon day’s!

Not sure about Rubio and the endorsement by Grover Norquist who keeps some strange company.
I’m also very leary of the lack of action on immigration by Rubio.
While I would love to believe him I think that he can’t be trusted, kind of like Martinez couldn’t be trusted. I too will probably vote for Smith.
Crist reaches across the isles and straddles the fence. Where does that leave us? Empty handed and with balless guys who are not acting in the best interest of the tax payers. I feel Crist did a huge disservice to all Floridians especially the legal poor Latinos who reside on the Kissimmee res. who he enslaves due to poverty in tough economic times.
Crist sides with McCain and Obama with anmesty to illegal aliens, and the expanding health care to criminal illegal aliens. This tough ex. Attorney General who was supposely tough on crime is not, even gives voting rights to convicts. His team called him chain gang Charlie, but I call him a sell out to socialism placing us all in chains. I guess he is chain gang Charlie, putting us in chains..
Hey DICK,
Speaking of letters, how about that letter of endorsement he wrote to John Kerry back in 2004? You know the letter where he endorsed Kerry over Bush. Your candidate is part of the old guard, Rubio is the future of the party.
The speech given At Jacksonville Beach and his willingness to answer questions straight foward assured me I am supporting and voting for the correct person.
Marco Rubio is the Fresh look we need in Washington.
The vote you cast in November should be only after we each have assured ourselves the canidate has been fully vetted and any Incumbent who has served eight years or more should be re-elected only after we have proven they are worthy and no equal or better person is running or can be found and willing to run.
Term limits start at the ballot box we need to start this exercise November 2010.
Sharon Day would have been a good chairman and for sure Thrasher will be a great improvement over Greer. Those of us who advised against donating to the party over the past few years have been proven correct. We should give to the deserving candidates directly and to trusted groups like the Club for Growth to have confidence that our funds are not wasted.
The commentators above that strayed from the subject by bringing up the Crist-Rubio race by throwing in the weird Kerry supporter, Bob Smith, simply don’t realize that it is a Crist-Rubio race and the several other gadflies on ego trips are irrelevant. There is no perfect candidate –Ronald Reagan was the closest in my lifetime and Jeb is up there, too—so we pick the closest to our principles. Rubio has the backing of most conservative leaders while Crist is backed by so-called moderates. You want a conservative, low tax, fewer regulations and more personal responsibility type, go for Rubio; you want go along, get along guy to whom reelection is Job #1, go for Crist. Can you guess who I’m voting for?
Rubio seems like he is the guy but I do not trust him on immigration one bit. If amnesty passes then that alone will be the most catastrophic thing that could happen to this country besides a nuclear attack. We all know where Crist stands so he’s not even an option. If Rubio is elected then the “immigration hawks” will have to be on top of him day and night to make sure that he stays true to stopping amnesty.
Who is this “WACO” DICK Farrell? He sounds just like his WACO SELLOUT candidate(R)Bob Smith who endorsed LIBERAL(D)John Kerry over President Bush in the 04 election!

Sharon is a nice lady who for over six minutes said nothing other than we are going to have a nice primary.
Her idea of The Republican Party being more “inclusive” indicates were are not. I object to that idea. The GOP has been nearly destroyed over the “Big Tent” ideals. Our tent needs to expand to include those who support conservative ideals encompassing constitutionaslly supported legislation, free markets, limited government and restraiend balanced budget spending. Today the GOP is simply a party of Democrat lite. No, we don’t need “diversity” we need to bring conservatives home. The more the foolish leadership of the RNC/RPOPF tties to be socialistic to attract Progressives, the more irrelevent they make themselves.
Javier, I’m not sure what it was you were hoping for in this interview, but I suspect you didn’t get it.
Chad,
I was only hoping for Sharon to comment about the recent RPOF ordeal and just touch on what the RNC is up to, that’s all.
“Our tent needs to expand to include those who support conservative ideals encompassing constitutionaslly supported legislation, free markets, limited government and restraiend balanced budget spending.”
These issues are not the litmus test used by many in our party. The true tests are immigration, abortion, marriage laws and religion.
Hi Javier, nice to see you last night. Any comments on Richard Farrell’s post. Liked Smith until I read the letter. George LeMieux is doing a good job up there. Should we keep the incumbent? Jeb where are you ? We need you now! need as many R’s in DC as we can get.To save the Constitution .If its Rubio he has my vote and support.Joy
You think you know where Crist stands on immigation? You are fooling yourself. If you look at his record, Crist stands on whichever side of any issue it is expedient to stand on to get maximum votes as he seeks the NEXT higher office. A weathervane is more consistent. That is why no one can rely on him, his word or his “promises”.
