40 Responses to Poitier to Obama- “Listen up, Buckwheat”
Folks — I am glad that this district has a Republican challenger, but please don’t tell me that it is a great thing that he isn’t “politically correct,” so he can use slurs to address the President such as “listen up Buckwheat.” What a poor example, and one I can’t support. Being black doesn’t give you an excuse to be crude, and rude — if he really has something to say, he won’t need to use slurs of that kind when making a speech. There isn’t anything politically correct about just being polite. Mr. Poiter is articulate about the issues in this video — he needs to stay that way. As Republicans, we have a lot to say, and we don’t have to stoop to crude insults. That just diminishes are message and sets a bad example. I didn’t like “Bill Clinton toilet paper” either. Yuck.
Although I am not an Obama fan and disdain the way he constantly uses our great President Bush as a scapegoat , I do feel that he deserves the respect of the office and should not be called Buckwheat.Mr
Poitier was most impressive as a speaker. I hope he makes it to congress.
Corey:
I hope only two things, 1 that you win and 2. that you understand that the constitution as originally written is a good thing. Obama and his thugs have forced a healthcare bill on us by the use of bribery and corruption. We need a congressman from your district that has integrity. Do you. Can you tell a political party to go to hell to do what’s right?
I think he has the right to say whatever he wants. I’m sick of PC. Beside, Mr. O. has said nasty things himself. Politeness is good, censorship is bad.
Anti-science, anti-gay, anti-diversity, anti-women, anti-government, anti-progress. Sounds like Republicans should all move to Somalia. No government at all there.
Bye, now!!
NOw,Now..Why would you call a “rich, elite WHITE GUY’ buckwheat?Lets bring it up to date…
ONE of the things I’ve heard him called on Israeli blogs is a “HALF-Frican” American…I’m just not sure about the “American” part?????Hmm….
Another is ‘Oba-MAFIA”..being Italian,I like that ..it sounds like an Italan curseword my father used to say..but I guess that really applies to his peeps, you know like raHAMAN Emmanuel!
Have you ever watched the Little Rascals? I have been called Buckwheat many times and I always thought it was funny. I see nothing insulting about being called Buckwheat, unless you believe being called a black character is insulting then you really do have a problem. I fail to see how Buckwheat is a slur. You probably did not even know Buckwheat was played by a girl at first.
By the way Buckwheat’s approval rating is much higher than BHO’s. I have never met a person who did not like Buckwheat.
slur 2 v., slurred, slurring, n. -v.t. to insult or disparage. -n. 1. a disparaging remark; slight: quick to take offense at a slur. 2. a blot or stain, as upon reputation.
If Mr. Poitier actually made the “listen up Buckwheat” remark, it is a shame. He sounded like an actual candidate with good ideas. However, why he had to make a disparaging remark about the President is beyond me.
To bad he had to lower himself with the other rabble on both sides of the political spectrum.
Sir,To what end do you justify this opening statement! Our President (for better or worse) does not deserve this, and you of all people need to come correct or stay home! I could not support you after that statement and I have not heard nor read another thing you have to say! GOd I just hope you do not represent a district I have holding in!
I’m sure the “buckwheat” comment was a joke and buckwheat was a very loved character. Dems make NASTY comments all of the time to anyone that disagrees with them. PC is censorship!
How can a black candidate be a racist against another black man (or half-black man)? He’s not a “white supremacist”, not a “teabagger” and not a member of the KKK (not that they’d take a black man). Obama is getting exactly the respect he deserves (and exactly as much as Democrats and liberals gave G.W. Bush) NONE! Obama and his cronies have disregarded the will of the American people and pissed all over our Constitution.
Corey is the real deal and I think he’ll be a great congressman when he’s elected. Enough of the PC nonsense. We need a guy who tells it like it is. Since he’s a history teacher, my guess would be he knows the lessons of the past- including racism- better than most of the people that have spoken out against him in such an ignorant fashion.
It’s been years since I saw a picture of Buckwheat! Let the Little Rascals out of your closet, Bill Cosby! I support Corey Poitier for Congress, we need a brother man who will set these dummies in Congress straight. Keep on keepin’ it real, Corey! Peace out.
Those commenting above who dwell on the Buckwheat expression obviously aren’t very serious people and probably have little grasp of issues at stake in the political aren today.Knee-jerk leftists will always grab an expression like that, mild and harmlesss as it is, to use against a conservative because they lack ideas –ideas like Mr Poitier expresed so well. Good Luck Corey Poitier!
The comment Poitier made last night was made in jest. You liberal clowns need to get a grip. And what if it wasn’t meant to be a joke, so what? Interesting how some Republicans take offense at the remark, yet those same fools use racial slurs to describe Hussein Obama behind closed doors.
As for Broward Bill Club, quit fronting on this blog. We all know that you are a phony, and are perpetrating to be a brotha up in here.
I forgot about little Buckwheat. She was so funny and cute. I enjoyed that program very much. Corey, we needed that laugh at the BREC meeting after HC was voted in. Good job. Keep it up. Your District needs someone like you to clean up. Meek and family did not do anything for his constituients. I know with your compassion you will. Forget about this politically correct stuff. I’m sick of it.
Shay Pomero: The Tea Baggers are not in power. If they were that abomination which was rammed down the throats of the majority in the name of “healthcare” by the communist elite would never have been passed.
Abby Pepper: Your vitriol is only exceeded by your ignorance. Where the Republicans have a record of accomplishing things for all those groups you mentioned, the Democrats have a record of giving lip service -barely.
BLACKS: Republican Lincoln freed the slaves, pushed through legislation which would have helped the former slaves make their way (40 acres and a mule). By the time the legislation made it to the President’s desk, Lincoln had been assassinated and his successor, DEMOCRAT Andrew Johnson VETOED it. Fredrick Douglass was a Republican. So was the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. JIM CROW? He was a DEMOCRAT!
WOMEN: Susan B. Anthony talked her friend Sen. A.A. Sargent (R-CA) into introducing the 19th Amendment (Women’s Suffrage) to the U.S. Congress. In 1916, the GOP was the first major Party to vote at its convention to favor women’s suffrage. In 1917, the first woman elected to the US House of Representatives was Jeanette Rankin – a Republican from Montana In that state, women were already able to vote. When Suffrage was passed in Washington, it was done by a Republican-controlled legislature.
Most recently, the Democrat block that put that healthcare abomination over the top did so only after being assured that no taxpayer funding would go towards abortions, thus effectively denying poor women access to abortions.
GAY: The Democrats have been in solid control of Congress since 2006. Have you seen a bill introduced allowing Gay marriage? NO. Have you seen a bill introduced repealing “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell”? NO
Read some history. They try to justify voting for the Party of Self-Righteousness.
How can this be for real. The Republican party is the selfish party. Now they want to take away Health Care from Children, from Americans who desperately need it. I guess to save a buck(wheat), they would sell their children or mother–especially if saved them 10 buck(wheats). The SELFISH Party is the Republican Party. Now go try to take away health care opportunities from 32 million Americans. Yah, that is going to get you votes….
You are RIGHT..”TEABAGGERS” ARE the most “un-patriotic,un-christian people”because “TEABAGGERS” describes a PORNOGRAPHIC sex act for Sodomites, who are neither!!
WE are the Tea Party..you know, like the Boston Tea Party,( don’t worry,it’s GREEN tea)who fought King George & HIS TYRANNICAL govt”. & we will fight this KING & this Tyrannical govt’.too, until the Founders Country is restored or goes the way of Rome, which it’s on the FAST TRACK for!!!
..and FYI,JEWISH,NOT christian, “Jesus”,BEFORE he went to the Garden of Getsamane, told his TALMUDIM(disciples) TO TAKE A SWORD!!!!
I know you PC christians,(little “c” intentional)ignore that stuff!
The United States is the only industrialized nation on earth that does not provide some form of healthcare for it’s citizens. Despite the rantings of Fox News, we do not have the best healthcare in the world, according to the World Health Organization, that ranks the U.S. number 37. So may of us hope that the Republican Party does run campaigns on taking medical coverage away from Americans with pre-existing conditions, young people who who are about to lose their parent’s coverage and those who will be dropped by their gluttonous insurance company because they were diagnosed with cancer. Sounds like a winning campaign strategy to me! Bill McCollum, however, is using Floridians tax dollars to fund his campaign for governor, by filing a lawsuit that he knows is illegitimate. He appeals to the true corporate shills, the KKK (who now call themselves tea partiers) and the misinformed Fox News fans in Florida. But those of us who can actually define “socialism” and can read the bill, are obligated to call McCollum’s office and object to his politcal stunt.
BTW, Grandma, this bill provides the largest tax credit for small business in history.
I resent being called the “KKK” because it was started by the DEMOCRATS & I’M NOT a democrat..ANYMORE!!
Have you taken a look at the head of OUR party,Michael Steele,a REAL BLACK MAN..not that HALF-FRICAN President you people call black!!
Put the drugs down & look at him!Check HISTORY..MLK was a republican while KKK member,Sen.Byrd IS a democrat ..the Republican’s FREED the blacks & the Dems OPPOSED it & STARTED the KKK as a result,to SCARE THEM! Check History..PLEASE!
Unfortunately, the word buckwheat came out before Corey Potier he knew it. I am sure he refers to African Americans he disagrees with like this all of the time. Freudian slip. Some deep rooted identity problems seeping out. But it will make him very popular with racist and extreme right wing. You could not pay me to vote for this man, who does not know who he looks at in the mirrow every morning. He is very sad.
This is to All you Obama Bashers
NO ONE HAS TO USE GEORGE BUSH AS A scapegoat
he made himself a GOAT when he lied and got us
into this WAR…
Obama inherited all of the fallout behind that
he DIDN’T create this FIASCO, Bush did.
and as far as the health bill goes all of you
BASHERS, better hope YOU keep your jobs or your
fortunes, or you may find yourselves in need
of some help with your coverage. It’s very easy
for someone who THINKS they have it made to be
critical of people less fortunate.
WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!
I came over to see how the other side lives, and I see it’s still a stinking rat-hole. It’s amazing that you repubs shoot yourself in the foot with so much enthusiasm. The buckwheat comment goes right along with all your other gems, like the watermelon on the whitehouse lawn postcard. Your party has fractured after losing 2 important elections, and now in your desperate attempt to regroup you’re bringing out the crazies. Teabaggers are dropping like rocks in a pond in the polls. Sarah, although I give her props for being cute and for giving old repubs fits, is also dropping in the general polls. There is no trending showing you’re moving past the “regional party” limitation. In fact, you’ve ousted moderates like Christ from your party. You’re hoping that Palin can bring in the female vote and bring back the evangelicals, who did not vote for McCain. But it’s not enough anymore. That was Rove’s strategy and it’s burned out. You need to be moderate and inclusive and you’re not. Repubs will pick up some seats, because Dems are incumbents, but not enough to dominate.
Those in the tea party are just a bunch of modern day KKK racist, un-christian thugs. I recall a while back one of them was overheard saying candidate Obama was a “light skinned” African-American with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one” and that should help him politically —oh, no! It turns out it was Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid who actually dropped that little gem of political correctness. Can you believe it? And then, Ted Kennedy threw Bill Clinton out of his office when ol’ Bill was courting Ted’s support for Hilliary and said that a few years ago Obama would have been serving the two of them coffee instead of running for President. Of course, it’s hard to get any better than KKK Byrd when it comes to a long and illustrious career laced with frequent examples of racial hatred. Author of the longest filibuster ever recorded in Senate history – against the 1964 Civil Rights Act, yet. Before you Dems start spewing your usual characterizations of the Tea Party and other Conservatives, you might should bone up on your history. Otherwise, you just might say something stupid.
Just curious… Did any of you geniuses who are trashing the candidate for his headline comment calling Obie out actually READ THE REST OF THE ARTICLE???
As usual the oh-so-sensetive moderates and liberals lack the fortitude to read and comment on the body of the man’s thoughts.
Look at it this way… he wanted to get attention so he used the ONE remark and you clowns did his work for him!
Was he calling Barack or Manchelle Buckwheat? I think he got confussed & was talking Manchelle.. LOL Oh, let the man be.. It’s 2011 people..Love you Corey!! We all need to RELAX..

When are decent Americans going to take a stand against Ku Klux Klan (Teabaggers)? Their bile is taking this country backwards about a hundred years.

LOL this guy is a total buckwheat, not Obama. So ironic that he would say that when he is a total buckwheat himself.
