Kurt Kelly- Florida Congressional candidate district 8

May 24, 2010

Kurt Kelly is a strong, passionate leader who has an exceptional conservative record of accomplishments. During the 2009 Legislative Session, Rep. Kelly focused on improving Florida’s economy and protecting our citizens. Rep. Kelly was the leader of a powerful bipartisan team of legislators who passed prescription drug abuse legislation that will reduce the number of deaths from abuse of prescription drugs. He helped pass important legislation that cut taxes for businesses so they could provide jobs for Central Floridians.

During Rep. Kelly’s first Legislative Session in 2008, he spearheaded legislation that provided protection to victims of dating violence and threats to our citizens called the Barwick/Rucshak Act, a new law that gained national exposure in June 2009 on ABC’s “20/20.” Rep. Kelly recently made headlines on December 31, 2009, when Florida newspapers reviewed the one-year-old law showing that it significantly helped law enforcement keep our citizens safe. Kelly was also recognized as the 2008 Freshman Legislator of the Year by the Florida Association of Counties.
Rep. Kelly is a native of Central Florida. He is the President/CEO and founder of 3-D Background Screening, a full service pre-employment background search company. He holds a Master’s of Science in Education from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor’s of Science from Florida State University. Rep. Kelly served 6 years on the Marion County School Board, originally appointed by Governor Jeb Bush in 2001. He was elected to the Florida House of Representatives from District 24 on June 26, 2007, in a special election and has subsequently been re-elected.
Rep. Kelly has been married for 25 years to his wife Sally, a teacher at Madison Street Elementary School of the Arts. Kurt and Sally have two children: Kala and Keenan.

It seems that Kelly brags about all his accomplishments except his affirmative YES vote for Sun Rail. Maybe he’s trying to duck the responsibility of further putting us and our grandchildren into more debt. He says he voted Yes because his party leaders told him to vote YES. Didn’t he know there are no light rail railroads in the U.S. that are not citizen supported or did he care more for what his party wanted. Sounds like the latter won. This man couldn’t even stand up for his constituents in a State position, imagine what what he would do if he was in a National position. We need a leader like conservative Repiblican Patricia Sullivan to represent the 8th district. We need a person like Patricia Sullivan to stand with and for the People.

We have many good candidates out there running against Alan Grayson. The point here is that the story continues changing. At a recent event it was stated that “local” elected officials not his party leaders told him that the yes vote was what the people wanted. If that is the case shame on them and Kurt Kelly. What part of the voter’s voting no on this issue do they not care about. That is the point they do not care. Are they going to pay for this mess when our country was never ment to be set up as a “rail” country? Passenger trains lost money for years, so they tried Amtrack and we are subsidzing that and now they want this new boon doggle. I say recinde the bill and forget Kurt Kelly. We do not need to send a politician to Washington.

  3. GenEarly says:

The Republican “establishment”supports the Rail Road boondoggle.I attended the last Pinellas County Republican meeting where the audience gave several elected state representatives an earful on the Train and the representatives dodged and twisted to avoid answering questions. It was very clear they wanted the pork Obama had given Florida for the Train and would proceed to implement the plan despite voter opposition.

  4. PatriotDee says:

Patricia Sullivan is the candidate of the people in the 8th Congressional district. She will listen to the people of the District & vote as they instruct her, as opposed to how the “Party” tells her to vote, which is what Todd Long did on Sun Rail. Both Long & Webster are entrenched in the “good old boy” political system. Patricia is a Patriot, not a politician, & you WILL be able to tell the difference when she is elected. Check her out at http://www.patriciasullivanforcongress.com and also on youtube.

  5. PatriotDee says:

Sorry – in reference to my previous comment, I meant to address how Kurt Kelly voted for Sun Rail, not Todd Long, who is also running for the 8th District seat. My apologies to Mr. Long for the mischaracterization.

  6. Sam adams says:

Kurt Kelly is a great man! He has shown that he can be a great leader in Tallahassee and now we need to sed him
to Washington where he will lead the conservatives! He is passionate about his values and does not waver!

  7. Louise for America says:

Superb job Rep.Kurt Kelly. You served Flroda well and now we need you in D.C.You are the one with the fire in your belly to beat the extreme ultra liberal Alan Disgrayson.
Kelly is a statesman with proven leadership and experience. Kurt is a conservative who will stand for limited government, national security and for Christian family values. This is the time to send a “pitbull” ,not a rookie with no experience, to vicious D.C. It is time to have a real voice in D.C. for District #8- Kurt Kelly – the voice of the every day people like myself. He is one of us.

    You have my vote Kurt.
God bless America. My prayers are for America and men like Kurt who will take a stand for right and fight evil.

Join the exciting Kelly team. We need your help to defeat the Democrats political money machine to include the likes of Barney Frank and Michael Moore.

  8. Great interview. We need a “pitbull” in D.C. not a rookie. It’s time to have someone with a backbone and not part of the old political machine. Kelly is a statesman will proven leadership and experience.

Kurt Kelly is an exceptional leader. I support his vote on SunRail. I hear nothing but complaints about how it won’t pay for itself from the same people who drive on roads everyday that don’t pay for themselves either! Given that we need relief for I-4 and that SunRail is by far cheaper that widening I-4, he voted correctly. We must have infrastructure to support our economy. You want to beat Grayson? Vote for Kurt Kelly!

  10. BIELING SUPPORTER says:

Please look into Ross Bieling for Congress for District 8. I did not know a lot about Ross, but I was given his card, called it and actually spoke directly to him for about 30 minutes. He is not a politician, but a successful businessman with 30 years of healthcare experience. He identified exactly what the problems are. We have Progressive-Marxists in the White House, weak Republicans who spend like drunken sailors and career politicians who have hijacked our government. He too is a conservative who begrudingly votes Republican every 2 years because we have no other choice. I truly believe that he can reform our party. Visit his website and give him a fair chance at http://www.BielingforCongress.com

Although I do not live inthe orlando area, I am a strong supporter of Alan Grayson a true breath of fresh air. Mr. Kelly should be ashamed to accuse Mr. Grayson of not being patriotic. You and your kind are truly evil.
