The nation of Israel has long considered its true capital to be the city of Jerusalem. All three of the branches of the Israeli government, the judicial, legislative and executive branches are wholly situated within Jerusalem. However, the global community, along with the U.N, and even the United States, do not recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, and instead recognize Tel Aviv as the nation’s ‘political’ capital. As a result, no country has located its embassy within Jerusalem, choosing Tel Aviv instead. Back in 1947, the U.N passed a resolution stating that Jerusalem was an ‘international city’ and that East Jerusalem is ‘illegally’ occupied by Israel. (VIDEO)
What I find a bit bizarre is that the Central Intelligence Agency(CIA) in its World Fact Book, officially lists Jerusalem as being the capital of Israel, yet our government keeps its embassy in Tel Aviv alongside everyone else. And as tension in the region increases, the global media is again stepping up its “Israel as big bad bully’ meme in a region where it is surrounded by Islamic states that would be overjoyed if Israel were destroyed. During the previous administration, President Bush continuously expressed our country’s unwavering support and solidarity with Israel by not recognizing the Palestinian leadership, as well as thumbing his finger at the many world leaders that took issue with our friendship with Israel.
But times have changed, and so has our government. President Barack Hussein Obama has turned everything upside down by receiving the representative of the Hamas controlled government and President of the Palestinian people, Mahmoud Abbas, thus giving legitimacy to terrorist organizations.
No major elected official or candidate has called for the acknowledgment of Jerusalem as the true capital of Israel- until now. At a recent speaking engagement in Boca Raton, Florida where he addressd the Republican Jewish Coalition Marco Rubio said this-
“The Obama Doctrine of appeasing our enemies, alienating our allies, and delegating our national security to the international community may have won President Obama a Nobel Peace Prize, but it has made the world a more volatile and dangerous place.”

Marco can say this because he knows there is virtually no chance that it will happen. He appeases the hard-core Israel supporters, all the while knowing that his opinion on the location of the Israeli capitol is irrelevant. This is not one of those polarizing, “lightning-rod” issues, therefore taking a strong stance is essentially risk-free.
On other subjects, ie ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, Marco has been more weary of taking a strong stance because he’s too afraid that he might offend someone because it IS a lightning rod issue.
What we have here is a typical politician in action. Sadly, Marco has already been bought and sold and it’s obvious. I fully expect him to take over where Mel Martinez left off. He will probably win the election but we’ll have to sleep with one eye opened while he’s in office.
Israel, with a population of about seven million and the size of New Jersey is in the middle of 22 Arab nations with a combined population of 310 million. Israel has enough food to export to Europe and even Jordan! Arabic people who live in Israel are Israeli citizens and receive the same social benefits as do other Israeli citizens, and they live at a higher standard of living than do most Arabs in Gaza, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Algeria and Lybia. Why not let Israel exist, and be able to choose its own capital, and defend its own borders?
I have always liked Marco; however, now is not the time to debate about what the capital of Israel is. We all know that the Obama agenda includes alienating America’s current allies so he can have control over our “new” communistic ones i.e. Palastine, Iran, etc. He should be addressing the oil spill and the Obama administration’s refusal to waive the maritime Jones Act so foreign countries who are waiting in the ready can help us begin the cleanup efforts. He should also make it a point to mention to the public how many countries have offered help to us but have been refused due to Obama’s reluctance to waive Jones Act which, I believe with all my heart, is entirely intentional as is everything shady and corrupt he does.
“Florida Native” brings up a very good point. Although Marco’s stance is appreciated, in the end, its not gonna make much of a difference.

The capital of Israel is Tel Aviv, despite what Israel is wanting the sheeple of the world to think.
Israel has maintained an apartheid rule over Palestinian People in Gaza, West Bank and Golan Heights and ordered a blockade against Gaza and West Bank in 2007. Then increased the severity of their blockade in 2008.
The blockade prevents foods – yes even chocolate is prohibited, the blockade prevents schoolbooks – yes school books are not permitted to be brought into Gaza and West Bank. The blockade prevents persons living in Gaza and West Bank from entering and exiting the “checkpoints” (border crossings) freely even when in need of immediate medical care. Children are born while mothers in labor have waited in line at “checkpoints” and elderly have died in these same lines. The blockade prohibits bringing newspapers, medical equipment and medicines into Gaza and West Bank.

Palestine must become free of Israel’s apartheid law. Palestine must no longer be surrounded by Israeli military and Palestinian People must no longer be treated inhumanely as though they are inside the world’s largest open air prison.
The United Nations, and government leaders have failed the Palestinian People. Citizens from around the globe, and of a variety of religions are attempting to bring aide to Gazans and those in West Bank because it is easier for the Unted Nations and government leaders to close their eyes and do nothing.
People celebrate the end of apartheid in South Africa – but ignore the apartheid rule that is occuring right now at the hands of Israel against Gaza, West Bank and Golan Heights.
East Jerusalem will be the capital of Palestine. I hope that it comes peacefully.

Marco Rubio’s statements have now lost him my vote – but he has time to learn the truth and think is opinion – I hope he does so.

We should never engage in making Israel dance to a double-standard.. Remember the ‘occupied’ territories were won from a war in which 7 nations ganged up to destroy Israel…
THAT didn’t work out exactly as they had planned, now did it…and now the islamic jihadists, backed by the many of the same nations have teamed up with progressives to give Palestinians ‘victim status’ and try to prevent Israel from defending herself as Hamas continues to lobb bombs over the border at her cities.
As to Marco Rubio, there is no perfect politician in this race, but he’s the best one running for that Senate seat. Governor Crist used his power to ‘lend’ the Senate seat he wanted to run for to his best friend and campaign manager so he wouldn’t have a ‘real’ Senator run against him and Kendrick Meek has long represented Nancy Pelosi and San Francisco in the House of Representatives instead of Florida.
Give me RUBIO over those two bone-heads any day.

1) In the video the interviewer says: “Last time I checked the capital of Israel was Tel Aviv”. Where did you check? Please check again.

Well aware of the Jerusalem Act of 1995 and its provisions.
Jerusalem is the Capital of Israel dating back to before Jesus was born. Read the Bible even if only for historical reference.
Okay but so what….T he only thing you need to concern yourself with is: just being friends with Israel period. not where the Embassy is. we have one and we don’t need to spend money we don’t have to move it. If it needs to be moved let Israel do it we are in THEIR country after all is said and done aren’t we?

Have you been there? I have stayed in the “West Bank/Samaria,2 X.
I have had to travel in a bullet-proof bus..OUR TOUR-bus was stoned by Arab kids..I was harrassed by little Arab punks ,riding circles around us on their bikes who,we were being kind to,who SHOULD have been in school!
I saw for myself that Arab villages DON’T NEED barbed wire or security but the Israeli villages do..WHY??The one BEING ATTACKED needs the protection.Go see for yourself.
The Arabs living PEACEFULLY,side by side, in Israel would rather be Israeli citizens than under Arab rule.
Marco will help Israel so much when he gets in as Senator. He’s got my vote now!
