Harrington on Iranian ships to Gaza – “They should open fire and sink the ships”

June 14, 2010

by Javier Manjarres

With the recent Gaza flotilla raid by Israeli commandoes that resulted in the deaths of 9 supposed ‘humanitarian aid workers’, tensions between the Palestinians and the Israelis are again extremely high.  The Iranian Government recently announced that it would be sending Iranian aid ships to Gaza to break the blockade being enforced by the Israeli Navy- possibly escorted by elite Revolutionary Guard. (VIDEO)
If the respected leader of the revolution (supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei) gives an order in this regard, the Revolutionary Guards’ naval forces will take a practical step using their capability and equipment to escort flotillas to Gaza,” Khamenei’s aide in the Guards’ naval wing, Ali Shirazi, told the Mehr news agency on Sunday.

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has come out in defense of Israel’s raid of the flotilla, but she continues to support the Obama Administration’s foreign policy, staying tight-lipped as Obama has continuously undermined Israel.  Congressman Wasserman-Schultz’s probable Republican opponent in this November’s general election, Karen Harrington, made it clear what she believes Israel should do if an Iranian-led flotilla were to approach its naval vessels.

Ms. Harrington is quite correct in thinking Israel’s navy should sink Iranian ships heading to Gaza. Iran never has shown one iota of interest in the Palestinians until now. In fact, both Syria and Iran arm Palestinians and send them to their deaths against the hardened Israeli border. On the other hand, the quote above about “supposed humanitarian aid workers” seems slanted. No arms were found and any hostilities by aid workers could have been quelled by non-lethal force. You don’t shoot into a crowd of unarmed people without being tagged as a repressive regime. Israel has a right to whack anyone coming over its borders. But for public relations’ sake if no other, stop shooting demonstrators!

  3. Dave says:

Karen Harrington and Sarah Palin should mount a scud and ride it into oblivion.

  4. Jack Brookner says:

Sink the Iranian ships and inspect the supply ships. If Obama tries to throw Israel under the bus, publicize the recent TV interview by the Egyptian foreign minister on his national TV that Obama told him in private that Obama is a Muslim and has always been one and will deal with Israel according to Muslim foreign policy. It’s on the internet just recently. Having been on Egyptian TV, it should be easy to verify. Hold a public hearing in Boca.

  5. Brendan says:

I think a better analogy is if Russia sent ships to Canada, would the US have the right to attack those ships? NO

  6. Sally says:

    Karen is RIGHT!

  7. Joe Amores says:

I don’t necesarily disagree with sinking Iranian ships but Karen looks coached and her simplistic answers and incoherent analogies make me wonder, throw in the fact that she’s a recent convert to the Republican Party and you gotta ask yourself is she for real?

In any case I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt for now and see how she does from here on out.

So you are against the Geneva Conventions, and against the International Red Cross and Red Crescent? The 2 ships going to Gaza from Iran happen to be Red Crescent ships. No one in Iran government has said that the Iranian military would be escorting the ships – no one. Although I am sure that if these Red Crescent ships are threatened by Israel in international water that there are several countries that will send military assistance to the Red Crescent ships. The quote by Javier Manjarres is interpreted inaccuratly – simply it means that if the Red Crescent ships are threatened or attacked that the Iranian government will send military assistance.
I can tell by the posts and comments here that there is very little factual substance known by posters on the issues facing the Palestinian People. Opinions based upon mainstream western media are filled with propaganda for sheeple to call gospel. After all, who owns western mainstream media?

The old saying “Think twice before speaking once” should be heeded and perhaps amended to include proper gathering of facts before formulating one’s opinion.

  9. Randy Buller says:

I support the right of the Israel to inspect those ships coming into Gaza. They didn’t find rockets but they did find things like night vision goggles. I seen the videos and I saw the boarding commandos being beaten with pipes. The “aid workers” were only fired upon after they initiated the violence. If the Iranians come in with a war ship they are there to provoke an incident. They deserve to be sunk. Karen is right.

  10. Eric says:

Israel has the right to protect herself. She is all alone in the Middle East because President Odumbo will not support Israel if she attacks any Muslim aggressors

  11. GenEarly says:

Dave, scud missiles are used by the islamic terrorists, not by Americans. Sad state of affairs when women have to protect wimp men like you.

  12. Israel has every right to do this. For a fair and balanced view we should be able to hear on the shark tank msgs from the other two candidates in the primary race for the 20th district. I know that Robert Lowry spoke at the Pro-Israel rally recently but the Shark Tank has not had him here for a long time. Furthermore, the third candidate I have never heard any views about Israel.

  13. Mike Garner says:

    Rabbi,

Mr. Lowry has proven himself to be nothing but an embarrassment. The only true candidate in the race against Schultz is Harrington. Milo is a very good candidate, but I do not think she can win. We will have to see the outcome of the primary?

Hey Shark Tank, what is the date of the primary?

  14. Jay Simone says:

Karen Harrington is right on target! Hopefully we can elect Karen and get rid of Wasserman.

  15. Bob says:

This pathetic excuse for a candidate Lowry is useless. He is almost as useless as his gay campaign manager Leggerace! Karen has my vote!

  16. Mirand Sharma says:

Israel does have the right to defend itself, but does it have to do it with tax dollars?
Can I get my money back?

  17. Tom Smith says:

Israel should take a page out of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

    Make this clear statement:

“Isreal considers Iran a hsotile regime.
Any Iranian warship within Israeli (or Gazan) territorial waters will be sunk on sight.
Any Iranian warship in International Waters in the Meditteranean with the capability of launching projectiles at Israel will be sunk on sight.”
