The Candidate Forum held at the monthly Miami GOP Executive Committee meeting began with a thud and ended with a bang. All of the candidates, running for local, state and federal seats, were invited to the meeting and allowed to speak for 2 minutes, and the candidates’ addresses were being timed. The highly anticipated and publicized confrontation between Florida Congressional District 25 candidates, Miami GOP boss David Rivera and Paul Crespo did not disappoint, if you were hoping for fireworks. As expected, Crespo layed into Rivera with allegations that Rivera had abused his power as poobah of the local party he heads. (VIDEO)
Here’s where it gets interesting. Immediately after Crespo finished speaking, Rivera began to address the crowd , and as he did so, I noticed a couple of local Police Officers talking to Crespo, who was in the back of the room, and it appeared to me that they were asking him to leave the room. Crespo was escorted out of the room and was confronted in the lobby of the Rennaissance Ballroom by another Police officer-we are up to 3 officers now.
I heard the officer that was speaking to Crespo say, “if he wishes you to leave.” This statement led me to believe that the officer was ordered to escort Mr. Crespo out. I asked the hierarchy of the local GOP and they vehemently denied that they asked the officers to escort Crespo out. While Crespo was speaking, I was no more than 8 ft from the REC poobahs and the officers in question, and I did not see anyone of them even speaking to the police officer.
My take on it is, someone friendly with the officer or somone within the REC asked the officer to talk to Crespo, or perhaps we have a classic case of over-zealous cops flexing their authority. Why are these cops even bothering with the Miami REC meeting, let alone questioning Mr. Crespo of something as trivial as going over his alotted 2 minutes? Everyone was jaywalking as they left out of the meeting, maybe the cops should be policing that instead. But with LeBron rumored to be making a cameo appearance on Ocean Ave., who could blame them for bolting the scene so fast?

This is disgusting. Crespo called Rivera out, as did Cancio, and what did Rivera do? Nothing. His deliberate failure to address the question of whether or not he abused his power as REC Chair to promote his own personal campaign serves only to bring other questions to mind, namely, is this man fit to lead the REC? Attempting to intimidate ANYONE into silence and with police presence is distasteful and unacceptable; I imagine everyone there took note, and it will be interesting to see how this situation plays out.
Very shocking and for what reason? It may be a game changer in that race, especially if they make a repeat mistake. I like D.R. but have heard a lot, a lot of good things about Paul. This is disgraceful.

Please, this is a simple report. David Rivera is a very good friend of mine, in case you were wondering. If you read all of the posts over again, you will see that this is a very friendly blog. Why else would so many GOP politicians want to be interviewed by El Sharko, let alone advertise on the blog?

If you participate in a debate you have to follow the rules. You can’t expect to ignore the rules of a debate and to not become unwelcome. Once you are unwelcome you are a disruption and SHOULD be escourted out by the POLICE.
We are a civil country because we follow our rules voluntarily. We need to send the police to congress to escourt out the rule breakers ther also.
No one here is anti-Republican. We simply understand the need in restoring FAITH and TRUST in the GOP. The country wants to change course away from the looming shipwreck… they want to look to the GOP for that new course. But they don’t trust it. David Rivera needs to step down. He is part of that distrust. It starts at the local level. Fix it here first. “Nice person” means he smiles when he shakes your hand. Go for substance, restore the trust!

No More RINOs! That is one issue we must address. There are way too many people running as Republicans who have never done anything for the party or been involved in the party. Worse, some even claim to devote time to community service when they do ZERO!
David may have some issues with poor ethics, but so does Alina Garcia. They need to stop and realize that Paul, while a bit harsh, is correct. Similar to the First Amendment’s freedom of religion. All REC members are afraid to support Paul or Marili openly because of what the REC may do.
With that said, JC Hernandez has a First Amendment freedom and right to participate in a parade, wear a David T-Shirt and support whomever he wants on his own time. That simple. That was a poor shot at a good man who has done a great job for the REC. Javie did well and JC has stepped it up further.
On the time and police issue, I complaint should be file by the REC to protect the integrity of the REC meetings and events. The REC meetings are open to the public always. Yesterday’s event was as a circus and suppressed the speech of fellow Republicans. I thought I was at a Democrat function. This can never happen again. Kicking Paul out was also wrong. What is worse is that the majority of the speakers went over their 2 minutes and nothing happened. Starting with Eric Fressen. Note that the bell was not ranged as often for anyone as it was for Paul. This was a tremendous mistake and Reagan’s 11th Amendment was violated.
Here is a something that most if not all of the REC felt was wrong, disrespectful and led to the mudslinging. Candidate Carla Asensio Savola made an ASS out of herself and destroyed the good atmosphere by attacking Jose Feliz Diaz for supposedly changing from Independent when he was 18-19 over 10 years ago to Republican. WTF? Is this woman that crazy, ignorant or stupid? News Flash Ms. Savola; President Reagan was a Democrat for many years and then switched and was the best President of our era. Jose has the right to change parties, especially when he was a young man. You in the other hand, have never done anything for the party as you chase your selfish dream to be elected. The fact that you donate to Democrats is huge. You should drop out of the race and apologize. You destroyed our meeting.

Another thing I am scared about is that Eric Fressen seems to be thinking he is going to be the next Chairman of the REC. That cannot happen. Aside from being a lobbyist, he is part of the Diaz De La Portilla gang. Separate, they are somewhat fine. Though, at this top post, they cannot be trusted. Do not support this Eric Fressen person.
To close, let’s work for a better future in the REC. No more fights and let’s be honest with one another. If you have not been a Republican or active, just tell everyone the truth. If you are a lobbyist, tell the truth. If you are a Democrat and want to change over to Republican, tell us the truth. If you have no experience and want to get some, tell us the truth. Don’t come to our meetings and destroy our Party. Obama is the enemy, fellow GOPers are not.

Ana Maria is the same Ana Maria who is a close friend and ex-Chief of Staff of Democrat Guru Bob Levy. Ana Maria is a Democrat herself as I hear and is claiming she know disagrees with her husband on how he has destroyed his school district. He is the one who used our tax money to promote Miguel and is currently under investigation.
Let’s clear the air please. We are fragile and a Diaz De La Portilla anywhere is a bad idea. Let’s return strong without unethical weight.

Paul Crespo waited his turn to speak and then explained why he was running and stated some of the reasons David Rivera should step down as chairman of the Republican Executive Committee of Miami.
Afterwords Marili Cancio spoke who is also running for the same seat.
She also raised several reasons why David Rivera should step down.
When it was time for David Rivera to speak which of course the chairman picked the best spot for himself which was last, I see that some police officers walk towards Paul Crespo and ask him to come with them, he followed them and I decided to follow (please keep in mind that I have never seen any officers at the REC meetings before and these officers were there before the meeting even started) I could not believe my ears when I heard the officer say that he had escorted Paul Crespo out because he had gone over his time limit when addressing the REC as though this is a crime.
David Rivera spoke way over the 2 minutes and there were others who had done so as well.
David Rivera is using his Chairmanship of the REC to harass his opponent.
I know politics is dirty but what I was witnessing was beyond belief.
I was a member of the Miami-Dade County Republican Executive Committee (REC) for many years until I moved to Tallahassee. I am now a member of the Leon County REC.
In both assembles, we have had occasions where off-duty police officers were asked to attend certain meetings in case there was any unruly behavior. With media reports of certain attendees explicitly vowing to cause a scene, I think it was responsible for the party to bring some security to the meeting. In fact, most large assembles regularly have sargeants at arms at their meetings regardless.
As for Paul Crespo being escorted out of the meeting, at no time did I see anyone, including Rivera or his staff, give any such order to the officers, much less for going over his alotted time. In fact, he spoke for his two minutes, then Ms. Cancio spoke for her two minutes, and he walked out of the room with the officers well into Rivera’s two minute speech.
I don’t know why he went outside with the officers. Maybe they asked to speak with him or they escorted him out. I don’t know. Regardless, I saw Rivera and his staff immediately after the meeting and everyone was legitimately puzzled as to what happened and why.
And what about the booing? The REC should rise above “chusmeria” and simply refrain from clapping if they don’t like what the candidate is saying! And they should have condemned the behavior and put a stop to it immediately. That was so low! I don’t attend meetings regularly, but I now think I should. I was totally disgusted!

If you create the environment that was created and feed a cop with a 12 grade education dumb information about Paul and Marili, they are going to react as they did. David may not have done the actual final push, but the whole Brass which controls the meeting had done it from the start. The dumb cops from West Miami did what comes naturally to someone with little education, they reacted to stimuli. They had a BOLO for Paul and Marili and got their man.
Does this make sense to anyone else? Could we see the video of David speaking please with a counter and could we please see the other over the limit presentation to see how many times and how often the bell was rung.

David Rivera will win this election because he has the infamous boletera (Absentee Ballot woman) in town. Zaida Nuñez will deliver the 20,000 ballots she sells throughout the county in every election.
Zaida Nuñez will be seen with boxes overflowing with the absentee ballots that she fills out herself. Zaida Nuñez will also be seen with huge trash bags filled with the absentee ballots she picked-up, but did not like who the real voters voted for. Any candidate that is foolish enough to hire Zaida Nuñez is participating in these felonies and should be arrested.
This type of behavior totally hinders the democratic process. I caution all candidates to not be affiliated with this soon-to-be scandal.

I was a REC member and what caused me to resign was a call I received from Javi Correoso, David’s campaign manager questioning me about whether I was endorsing Paul Crespo.
As I stated before we no longer endorse candidates but even if that were not the case he had no business questioning me.
I spoke with him and many others who contacted me about my resignation and explained that I felt uncomfortable with David refusing to step down from the chairmanship after becoming a candidate.
You have to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything.
It is terrible when unattractive behavior (forget her looks please) aims at destroying the Republican Party.
Nancy IamHard pushed people out of anger during this awful ordeal. Nancy, were you informed that you may have been charged with Simple Battery for shoving people at the REC meeting? She clearly represents the problem. An awful vendetta against a great pair of Republicans, Javier Correoso and David Rivera. Sure, they are not perfect, but they are 200% more devoted to the party than she will ever be. Hence, she quit the Party instead of fighting for a better REC/GOP.

There are many GOP Chairs who serve in multiple capacities. In addition, some of these GOP Chairs are also sitting members of State Legislatures and some in Congress. Stop plotting to take us over. The REC obviously hired the police BUT that does NOT give them the authority to “escort people out” for no reason, especially when in uniform and acting in their official capacity as officers. David Rivera is single-handedly destroying the Party – he has corrupted it, just as Meinhardt says.
As Rivera was talking about Reagan’s 11th commandment, his goons were having Paul Crespo escorted out by 2 cops (their were a total of 3 outside, as you can see in the video).
I am a lifelong Republican, and I am telling you what I saw and heard with my own eyes – all of it. I will swear to it under penalty of perjury. I really will.

First. Javi Corrioso could have been really asking what happened. That is an acceptable comment which should not be an issue.
Second. David was speaking when this all happened. I am sure he did not have his twin speaking. Who was outside that filled the cop’s ear?
Third. Paul was a victim of poor police work which is legendary is small municipalities. I am sure you would agree.
Fourth. The party was way worse when Marry Ellen Miller was the Chair. More stagnant and way more corrupt. The current board is horrible. I do not argue that with you. Could it be better? Sure. Look at Luby Navarro. She acted like she was running and handed the Republican nomination to Ana Rivas Logan. Smells like something is rotten there.
Fifth. It is not illegal for David to be at the helm of the Miami-Dade REC. Sure David he could resign and avoid the drama it is causing the Party. He does not have to though.
Sixth. Nancy Meinhart is rude and does not represent the Republican Party. Nancy’s association with leftist, democrats, lobbyist and anti-REC activist makes all us sick. The many rumors that come to the Party about her are really scary. She should follow suit and take her own advice. Additionally, she committed simple battery at the REC meeting during the Paul episode. The police almost arrested her and it would have been correct. Nancy should share this episode of her life with us. Not a good example of conservative leadership at all.
Seventh. Nancy Meinhart should resign and represent her opinion as an individual. Not the way she is doing it. She is putting all those good people in that 912 Project group as if they support her silly and selfish agenda. Not characteristic of a good leader.

You sound like a reasonable person. Unfortunately, you are flat wrong as to David. I am agnostic as to Ms. Meinhardt on other matters- I only know that her account of what happened is absolutely accurate. I saw precisely what happened – and I would testify to it.
One thing you said does sicken me – David’s Chairmanship is UNETHICAL – not illegal, but UNETHICAL- LIKE HIS FUNDRAISING during session. The cops were acting on orders – I overheard the one cop on the shark tank video saying so. I heard it MYSELF from the cop’s own mouth!
On David’s fundraising practices: Are you ware that 8 US Congressman are currently under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for the exact same thing that David did (3 dems; 5 repubs) — not because it’s ILLEGAL but because it’s UNETHICAL –Do you think we can survive as a republic on law alone? She’s a committeewoman who signed a loyalty oath–a legal document–stating she wouldn’t publicly support someone other than the Republican candidate. Her support of Crist is a violation of that oath, and she should go.

De pinga, mis queridos amiguitos.
Fellow Republicans,
Our country is in grave danger. Progressives have hijacked it and are in the process of deliberately and intentionally destroying it so that they can erect a fascist dictatorship in its place. Most Progressives are Democrats (although we do have a few within our own party, unfortunately, who share their agenda). Most of you on all sides are my friends and it pains me to see you bickering and fighting with each other over what I consider to be petty when viewed from the gargantuan problems we are facing as a society.
I beg of all of you to please lay down your egos and personal ambitions. The Country, your familes and our collective future hangs in the balance. Our enemies are well organized and single minded in what they have in store for us, the American people as a whole. We are confronted with an “elite” political class of globalists who systematically have been making progress, a little step at a time, over decades lasting almost a century to bring us to this moment in which they are shredding the Constitution and are leading us into “serfdom”! We cannot afford this petty bickering and bitterness amongst our party membership now. We need to apologize to each other, listen to each other, make friends with each other and realize that we are all on the same side and share a goal and values that we want to preserve for ourselves and our progenitors. I was not at the meeting and don’t know what went on nor do I really care — whatever it is, it is minimal next to the dangers we face unless we can unite and work together to restore Constitutional Law, take our country back and start healing it to preserve the individual freedom and opportunities afforded us by the Constitution.
We are confronted by Fascist/Socialist/Progressives out to destroy us, our society and the American way of life on one side, and Islamic Extremists who want to take us over from within on the other. It does not serve us, the party or the Country for us to have infighting of this nature going on.
Stop and take stock of what our priorities should be and refocus your attention together on the very real threats we are facing in the very near future.
We must take both Houses back in November to have the power to block the Obama Administration from the tyranny they have planned for us — and then to proceed to vote Obama out of office. We must not fail. We dare not fail! If, G-d forbid we fail, there will be no future, no opportunity for us or for future generations. We will fall back into a Dark Age that may last for at least another 500 years, if we survive at all.
If you reflect upon these words and take stock of reality, you will see how insignificant these disputes are!
Please, we are all Republicans. We all share the same values about America, the Constitution and our individual freedoms and the opportunity it affords for everyone to follow his dreams. We stand to lose it all! Get back on track, work things out with each other amicably and if you have to give in to a fellow Republican who is being particularly obstinate — for the sake of the Party and what we have to accomplish, give in — let him/her have his little victory! What we don’t want is to lose these small battles within the party and lose the War to Save our Country, our Lives and our Future and Free People!

David Rivera is a deeply corrupt man – I am now certain of this. I have simply seen his corruption manifested in too many ways.
I learned today that JC Hernandez, Executive Director of the Dade County GOP, was an Eagle Scout – an Eagle Scout!
How sad that he has turned his back on everyone he surely learned on his way to becoming a scout.
It is sad, Gail. But we must put our house in order first. I never saw this sort of behavior among GOP executive committee members where I used to live.

I am very clear on what is the problem. David seems to be the root of all evil. Thank you for opening my eyes.
Here is my question. Maybe you can help us and I invite others to help as well. David does not work alone as we have seen. What I would like to know and I think we all should know is who else is working with David? Who is he supporting? Why? I do not want to vote on people who are being manipulated by this man. Please be honest and list people who obviously are not Republican activist and who have never paid their dues. For example, Anitere Flores. We are all aware that Gastons Cantens who was a State Representative and is in danger of being indicted placed her there to make sure he still controlled the seat.
Would like to see a list of candidates with the years of active service to the party from all who are running. Not if you have been registered as a Republican, but if you have served as a Republican in the REC of Club. Also, if they were Democrats before and if they are lobbyist. Also, who has been elected before and to what? Like State Representative Julio Robaina was a Mayor in South Miami.

Republican Thugs are the same as Democrat Thugs, THUGS!
Turning our state and country into a police state. I do not “forgive” the officers for abusing their power and violating the rights of a citizen- candidate to speak. Thugs always use police power to intimidate and control, granted Rivera appears to be a Thug and as chairman his responsibility is to ensure freedom of speech. But that does not excuse the police for following an illegal order, an investigation is needed, do not let this go, it will only get worse if not stopped.
If this was a Police Union Meeting, when two officers get into to a fist fight — they just pay a fine. This GOP Chairman failed to keep it in the house!!!
Rather than focus on personalities ,why not look at the two minute problem.Are there so many long winded speakers and that time must be rationed so tightly?Solutions anybody?
