Crist Addresses Construction of NYC Mega-Mosque (VIDEO)
Is Charlie Crist hedging on his original support of the controversial mosque that is proposed to be built on the site of the 9/11 World Trade Center terrorist attack? President Obama, who originally came out in support of the construction of the mosque, is now back-peddling, and now it appears that Governor Crist is doing the same. Crist, was raised Greek Orthodox, and one would think he would be fully in support of the restoration of the Greek Orthodox Church that was destroyed 9/11, and his refusal to answer that question is quite telling. How can one not believe that he is more willing to accommodate Muslims who seek to build a brand new mega-mosque than those who seek to simply seek to restore the original St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church?

Wow! I just saw the real Crist! What a WIMP! I’m not voting for that guy now! We Never Forget 911 and who we fighting I guess Charlie frogt? Or maybe he just does not care!!!
Why should Charlie change course now? His recent habit is to back out of all loyalties and promises, so why should he support his former church? That would be stupid; in short, he’s done such a good job of being faithless that any other responses from him would just cost him support. In my opinion, only two faced cynics continue to support him now. He needs all of them now more than ever.

Crist is right on this one. They have the RIGHT to do it. Is it RIGHT? NO! New Yorkers should make the final decision…I just hope they deny it. Looks like the NY Governor is trying to do something to intervene now.

Brother Earl has asked me to pass on his suggestion that we ask all Christians in the New York City area to get together and form a round-the-clock vigil near the site of the proposed ground zero mosque, maintaining a peaceful presence and politely offering any passers-by and persons entering or leaving the premises Christian tracts explaining God’s free gift of salvation. The emphasis should be on peaceful and polite, not trespassing on any private property or interfering with anybody’s activities. Can you imagine how many of the world’s problems would simply evaporate if these folks would come to know Jesus? I know it sounds like wishful thinking, but we’re talking about God here – you know, Jehovah, the Great I Am, the Almighty One who created us along with the entire universe. If He can do that and work miracles as He has done in our otherwise miserable lives, He can pull this off!
Another thought on the mosque: I don’t recall anything recently, but every so often a story will make the news about some big project (hotel, shopping center, mfg plant, whatever) being put on hold or canceled because someone has claimed (rightly or wrongly) that the intended site encroaches on an ancient Indian (feather, not cardiologist; more accurately “North American aboriginal”) burial ground or perhaps on a long forgotten cemetery. Wasn’t there a big excavation in downtown Miami a few years back that had to be delayed or canceled when it was claimed to be an ancient Seminole burial site? Although the argument will be made that, ceteris paribus, people should have a right to build a place of worship on their own private land using their own private funds, exceptions can and should be made for extraordinary circumstances, and, in this case, all other things are not equal. America was attacked in the name of this “religion” – that fact should qualify as being worthy of extraordinary consideration. I personally find their plans to be extremely repugnant and a blatant “poke in the eye” to all Americans, especially to those who lost loved ones on that terrible day. It seems to me that a case could be made that the site they have chosen could quite properly be classified as “hallowed ground” in memory of those who lost their lives to murder in the name of Allah thus putting it off limits for their purpose and sparing local residents the indignity of having to listen to “Allahu Akbar” shouted over loudspeakers and echoing through the canyons of New York City 5 times a day. (Disturbing the peace, anyone?)
In a related issue I’m livid to learn that American tax dollars are being used to finance a trip to several Middle Eastern countries for the Imam at the heart of the controversy (Feisal Abdul Rauf – link below). Is there no end to the lunacy that these idiots in Washington will squander our money on? If our pastor, the priest of Holy Name, or the rabbi of our local synagogue (or Reverend Earl for that matter) had occasion to take a trip to foreign lands for purposes of “religious outreach” or to promote “interfaith understanding”, we would expect said trip to be funded by voluntary contributions from our respective congregations, not with dollars confiscated from beleaguered taxpayers against their will by the coercive force of government. At the very least, he could have hitched a ride as far as Spain with the “Queen Bee” thus sparing us that portion of the cost.

What a disappointment Charlie turned out to be. It seems that we have lost respect not only for the living, but now for the dead. I like the comment about the ancient Seminole burial site. I live in Florida where there are many Indian burial sites that are untouched. As for St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, my grandfather painted one of the Icon’s in that church now never to be seen again. All I can say is SHAME ON YOU CHARLIE. Didn’t you learn anything in church? I hope my fellow Greek’s wake up and vote Rep.
