The Shark Tank continues to keep tabs on the questionable actions taken by the former Treasurer and now Chairman of the Broward Republican Executive Committee (BREC), Richard DeNapoli. The BREC elections were held on December 6, 2010, and it was discovered on that same day the BREC failed to disclose a $4000 donation it made to the campaign account of now Broward County Commissioner Charles ‘Chip’ LaMarca on October 28, 2008. In his 2010 G-4 campaign finance report, LaMarca posted the $4000 donation from the BREC, whereas DeNapoli, the Committee’s Treasurer at the time, did not.

On December 27, 2010, an amendment to the original 2010 G-4 finance report was posted to the Supervisor of Elections showing the $4000 donation to LaMarca’s campaign account.
The question that now arises is who amended the report– former Treasurer DeNapoli, or current Treasurer, Mike McCarthy? And why would there be a need to amend the report in the first place if all reports were properly and promptly filed, as DeNapoli and former Chairwoman Cindy Guerra asserted. At the last BREC meeting, Guerra publicly stated that ‘all’ BREC Treasurer reports had been filed correctly and on time. Guerra’s statement was prompted by a document that was circulated throughout the BREC meeting questioning why this same $4000 donation was missing from the initial BREC finance report.
This amendment to the finance report completely debunks the email circulated by DeNapoli that was posted on another blog sympathetic to DeNapoli informing us of ‘BREAKING NEWS: SOE-ALL BREC REPORTS TIMELY FILED & RECEIVED’
Was this a simple mistake by Richard DeNapoli, or a blatant mal-intentioned cover up ?
So much for that. Stay tuned as this saga continues to develop…

Granted, the new BREC Chair is not hugely popular and probably never will be; but we should be celebrating Chip LaMarca’s huge electoral victory over his corrupt Democratic opponent, Ken Keechl.
The BREC Chair does not define BREC, half of the committee didn’t want him,; but who amongst us is dependent upon the BREC Chair to be productive ?
Same old corrupt Chairmen running Brec…
Isn’t this the same Richard DeNapoli guy who gave his friend a high paid position in Brec who was brought up on ETHIC CHARGES?

BREC had an opportunity to change for the better, but chose to stay the course with the old guard. Oh well, hopefully new and creative venues for new conservatives will surface. I observed quality candidate potential on display during the BREC election process. Stay vigilant for new opportunities to serve and encourage those like The Shark Tank to keep us informed.
I’m so glad that there is a source like “The Shark Tank” to keep RINO’S in check!
Dear Friend,
Thank you for your courage in reporting on the corrupt powers controlling the Broward GOP. You are doing the work that the so called party leaders in Broward and the state cowardly did not do. Despite the rant from Guerra on the election night and the many attempts to intimidate and harass you, you have bravely continued the work of trying to save the Broward GOP. We thank you for your selfless service.
Sincerely,
Bill K.
I agree with Bill but watch out! DeNapoli can’t handle bad pub really well! He will try to get you and others kicked out of his Brec even if you are telling the truth! Also watch for him and Colleen to try to push for moderate candidates like LeMiuex for you to support at Brec if LeMiuex runs in 2012. Chairman DeNapoli already hired his friend to a top position at Brec and he had ETHIC issues!!! All the politicians around the state try to stay far away from him even Governor Elect Scott did not send Richard a “PERSONAL” invitation to the Governors ball he had to buy a ticket online… Chairman DeNapoli is a Moderate Christ/McCollum/ Kottcamp/Rudi supporter who was a Democrat for years. This is the wrong person to run Brec!

SAD!
It was my understanding that political committees such as BREC were not allowd to contribute more than $500.00
per candidated per election. Would you know more about the law I am referring to or am I in error?
Again, double standard, turn a blind eye to the major
missteps of those who you support and turn minor transgressions into major scandals for those you don’t.The total hypocrisy of politics is mindboggling. Maybe I need to start a video interview blog. At least I would be fair.I may end up agreeing with you about Richard but at least I give people a chance and I do not like corruption in gov’t or in business from anyone but it seems like all of these people except for Allen has something. But then we are all human and I do not judge unless I know ALL THE FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES
I just hope as Republicans those we elected despite their pasts will make the party proud.
Daniels/Petreaus 2012!
in response to Joseph Kaplan’s question…
Political party organizations (both at the county and state level) that are properly registered with the Division of Elections, can donate in excess of the $500 per candidate limit. Precise amount they can donate depends on several factors, but generally can give at least $50,000 per election cycle (some restrictions on timing, etc.)
In addition to direct contributions, parties can also buy advertising (mail, print, TV, radio, internet, etc.) in support of a candidate. The so-called “3-pack” ads you see, where the ad talks about one candidate but then mentions two other ones at the end, are not subject to *any* expenditure limits at all.
I found the allegations against Richard DiNapoli as well as the dispersions cast against Coleen Stolberg sounding something like a bunch of midnight cat cries or feline clawing in free-for-all during mating season. What I didn’t see in much of the reported negativism were the charges and the counter charges addressing who has been sponsoring this shark’s feeding frenzy.
While I especially enjoy Javier work and understand what a tough job he has in garnering all the stats and reports he accumulates I guess he may possibly be just as jaded in some respects as others when it comes to feeding at the political trough. If what Bob Norman alleges, offers any degree of accuracy and truth in the allegations addresses, Javier could become tarnished. I hope that never happens.
In a section of the Norman’s “Swimming with Sharks: rising GOP blogger is funded by campaign cash, Bob implies that, “Mr. Manjarres, as we have reported in earlier articles, frequently attacks Republican candidates in primaries, and has a record of only attacking those candidates that do not pay him for advertising…”
It goes on to suggest that negative, “articles about their opponents only appear once payments are made.”

We need activist like Javier but only if they can remain untainted and not be bought as does Soros buy his patsies. That being said I guess it could be politics as usual.
