2012 Presidential Poll – Post-CPAC Edition

by Javier Manjarres

In the wake of Ron Paul’s resounding CPAC Presidential Straw Poll Victory (Paul could show Mayor Ray Nagin a thing or three about how to effectively utilize buses), we felt it appropriate to conduct another poll that floats the names of other potential candidates (some of whom aren’t mentioned in most other polls) who would have a more realistic shot at the Republican nomination in 2012.  The Poll has no vanity candidates, it includes the names of a few candidates who have already stated they would not run, and there are no candidates who ran for President in 2008.

And here is a little something I captured this afternoon that will make you sleep better tonight- the battleground is already being prepped:

49 Responses to 2012 Presidential Poll – Post-CPAC Edition

  1. My 2 picks aren’t on here: T-Paw and Donald Trump

  2. Trump donated to Rahm Emanuel, Harry Reid and Anthony Weiner and other Democrats during the last election.
Why would you vote for a candidate that is running on a platform of inflation and $8/gal gas?

  3. Rudy Giuliani!

  4. West all the way!!!! He just has to run!

  5. Organizing For America is in Broward county and they’re ready! The question which I am asking all of you: ARE YOU READY FOR 2012?

  6. WEST IS THE BEST!

  7. Pay close attention to Lt Col Allen West. He will be the president of the United States. He is a patriot, a war hero, and is totally dedicated to the values of this country and the safety of it’s citizens. I don’t admire to many people, but Lt Col Allen West is on the top of my list just after my father. Please Congressman Allen West, Save Our Country…!

  8. Why is Herman Cain not in this poll? While I really like West, and lift even vote for him over Cain, I believe West has said he is not runnng for 2012.

  9. Mitch Daniels is the voice of reason. He has done wonders for the state of Indiana!

  10. The Republican establishment and the media can only deny the Colonel so long. He’s not going away and the sooner they recognize and embrace his following, the sooner America will join hands and fight to gain back the losses we’ve suffered on every front over the past few years.

  11. Come on now – Governor Mitt Romney isn’t on your poll. What kind of poll is this?!

  12. Why not put up the same list that CPAC used? You’re missing some big names, yet you’re listing some that don’t seem to make any sense to include.

  13. Ron Paul 2012

But if I had to choose form your list, Allen West.

  14. We have had a Representative elected President before I think, but Mitch Daniels reminds me of Calvin Coolidge. Silent Cal rescued the country from Progressive failures of Wilson and we need that Efficient a leader again. Lt.Col. West for VP or US Senator to oust Bill Nelson! I agree West will be President one day.

  15. Ron Paul!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Where is my pick, Herman Cain? He gave a great speech at CPAC and we both heard him. I was in the bloggers room with you. BTW, congrats on winning Blogger of the Year! Give me Herman or …. I’ll also take West!

  17. This poll is too limited on the choices.
Marco Rubio might be great for President someday, but not yet.

Gary Johnson would get my vote, but he’s not even on your poll.
    Too bad.

  18. Ron Paul 2012

  19. I wasn’t going to vote at all anymore. I look at “our new congress,” and it makes me sick the same crap different election. Boehner won’t check Obama”s citizenship. They extended the Patriot Act for 10 more months. They are funded Obama care anyway. The same ole rino crap. Then along came Lt.Col. West. He is a true HERO. He stood up to the PC’s in Iraq, and saved a bunch lives. Now he is thumbing his nose at his old commander-in-chief. If he isn’t a REAL CONSERVATIVE, than neither am I. He is also a believer in Jesus, and believes in the constitution. If he doesn’t get the nomination, Obama will be re-elected. President West has a niece ring to it. He would destroy Obama in a real debate. No telepromters either. We’ll see who the real MAN is.

  20. I could not vote in this poll. These are people who decided they are running. I don’t see my pick in the line-up. I will not not vote for a political dynesty.

  21. Gimme a Palin/West Ticket and I’ll vote. West is great, but still relatively unknown to those outside of FL. I keep hoping that one of these days he’ll be sitting in the Oval Office!

  22. I’m supporting RON PAUL 2012 (if he runs???) but it’s a push for RAND PAUL 2016.

  23. I’m surprised to see so many posters calling for Allen West to run for president? His name is little known outside of south Florida. He’s going to make a great congressman and maybe more one day but let’s be realistic.

Paul Ryan congressman Wisconsin would make a strong candidate. Articulate, smart, speaks extremely well w/o the ahhhhhhhhh ummmmmmm like Obama. Not to mention he is the Republican party’s foremost expert on federal budgets. He’d make a great nominee, I don’t understand why his name is not mentioned more?

  24. ALLEN WEST 2012 !!! We need to let the Lt. Col. know how much we need him to run in 2012. I really believe he is the ONE to take down OBUMMER and no one else. I voted on this in order for Congressman West to see how much we want him, and perhaps he would consider it. As far as not many people hearing about him, that has changed now, he rocked at CPAC. And WHO ever heard of our Community Organizer/ campainer in- chief other then Chicago.

  25. Gov. Chris Christie put a Muslim on the Jersy supreme court bench! F- him!!!

  26. I can’t believe what a load of garbage this poll is. I can’t believe there are people so ignorant that they would ignore the ONLY credible voice within the Republican Party, RON PAUL, the ONLY pro-peace, pro-sound money, pro-Constitution, anti-needless-war, pro-civil liberties, pro-free market economics, and attempt to steer away your apparently uninformed voters from this truth by putting distraction names in front of them.

ANYONE who studies Ron Paul and his consistent message of liberty would know this blog is just another attempt to fool the public into continuing to vote against their own best interests.

You, author, are a statist apologist. Ron Paul CAN win, and there are throngs of people ready to make it happen.

  27. Allen West and Sarah Palin are the best. They both have the courage and wisdom to defeat the present occupant of the White House

  28. My first choice Sarah Palin. Second choice Chris Christie, and third choice Allen West…….

  29. How about voting for the candidate that would eliminate the income tax, have secure borders, try to abolish birthright citizenship, eliminate vast unconstitutional apparatus of the Federal Government, allow people to opt our ot medicare and medicaid, and turn the war on terror into the relentless pursuit of Osama Bin Laden? Where is Osama anyway, Mr. Bush and Mr Obama?

And this candidate is not even on you poll?

  30. We need to draft Col. West to run. He served his country once, perhaps he could be persuaded to do so again. HE should’ve been the first black POTUS instead of that piece of crap that sits there now.

  31. I just hope that we don’t wind up “running to a cure” like people did with Obama…

  32. Why us Herman Cain, the only one who has official. formed an presidential exploratory committee not on the list?

  33. Anyone but the nut case Ron Paul!!!!! Even Charlie Crist would be a better pick then that wack job!!!!

  34. It would be nice to see a WRITE IN section on this poll, people are tired of having the media pick the names. Allen West is most capable for the time in which we live. I would LOVE to see West debate Obama. West is smart articulate, intelligent, has keen knowledge of world affairs past and present. West has more LEADERSHIP quailties in his pinky finger than Obama has in his entire body. FOR the love of GOD, the United States needs SOMEONE who has the qualities of a true AMERICAN patriot.. Obama’s Hope & Change is nothing more than a SOCIAL program enslaving the American people into serfdom. Definiton of PATRIOT- someone who feels a strong support for their country, or even a love. Some patriots will defend their country in war, and even die. On Another note, Political Correction is a threat to National Security!

  35. My candidate is not there. Ron Paul 2012. He is the Ronald Reagan of our time.

  36. I attended CPAC. There were no buses.

Javier is engaging in the traditional political sport of lying and spinning to advance his political views or candidates.

I note also that not only is Ron Paul not on the poll, but neither is former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson.

    This is truly shameful behavior.

  37. Regarding Donald Trump…Here is a list of some of his political contributions
    ■11/8/2010- $2,700-Democratic Party of Delaware
    ■10/21/2010 -$2,400- Anthony Weiner (D)
■9/20/2010- $10,000 – Democratic Committee of New York City
    ■2/18/2010 – $2,000- Anthony Weiner (D)
    ■4/7/2010 -$1,000 Charles Schumer (D)
    ■3/26/2009- $2,400 – Harry Reid (D)
    ■8/11/2009 -$2,000 – Bill Nelson (D)
    ■5/20/2009 – $2,000 -Charles Schumer (D)

I also read he made contributions to Rahm Emanuel

  38. My pick,Ron Paul,is not on here!

  39. The only one that has the “cojones” to defeat the socialist agenda of Obama is Gov Sarah Palin. Crist Cristie also showed “cojones” by defying the unions.

  40. Ron Paul buses people in?? What a bald faced lie. Or did the author mean Romney – he’s the one who pays his supporters to attend. Ron Paul doesn’t organize his followers, they do it all themselves. This poll is a joke.

  41. Hmm… Herman Cain, Tim Pawlenty, Ron Paul – where are they? Are you only putting up the people you like?

  42. Ron Paul wins CPAC 2 years in a row and it is not a big story? Romney finishing second is the story says FOX news? Give me a break all of the candidates bus folks in. Romney spent big bucks doing this in 2010 to just come in 2nd. The thing that amazes me is the Paul supporters do it because they want to and do it and do not get paid off. It reminds me of the classic scene in The Godfather where Michael Corleone is considering a “family” investment in Cuba with Hyman Roth. Then he sees a rebel blow himself up with a grenade just so he can take out two of the establishments (Batista’s) soldiers with him. Hyman Roth asks Michael what does that tell him. Michael replies “that they can win!” That is the story from CPAC the Paul supporters are fervent and can not be bought off and know all the issues and their candidates positions better than any other candidate’s supporters in the race. Paul is a player and he is the true story and power behind the real tea party.

  43. Does anyone bother to read anymore? The intro says “no vanity candidates” i.e. Trump and Cain, Gingrich and no one who ran for Prez in 2008 (Romney, Huck, etc.) it appears to me that the idea of the poll is to narrow the field a bit and gauge support- and by the way for the Paul supporters who claim his win at CPAC wasn’t distorted, Paul’s political action committee purchased large blocks of tickets to CPAC and sold them at a big loss to his supporters who showed up and won him the straw poll- that’s a fact.

  44. This poll is a bit narrow-minded – don’t ya think ? Guess u don’t want the option for a write-in candidate… figgers…

  45. I nominate Sen Jon Kyl…. the perfect candfidate for a 2012 Victory.

  46. My vote is for Ron Paul.

  47. Mitch Daniels has the administrative experience and intellect to lead this country effectively. As Governer of Indianna he turned a deficit into a surplus, and reduced the size of government while improving efficiency. He walks the talk. His speech at CPAC was the most honest and articulate speech I’ve heard about the problems we face in America and the solutions needed to fix it.

  48. While I like Adam West, his chances of winning a national election are very slim. He has almost no name recognition outside Florida, that and his limited experience in government would really hurt him. I follow politics very closely and think West would be smart to wait another 4 years, help other candidates to gain their support when he does throw his hat in the ring, continue to build his bonafides and build a network, not just in Florida, but put in appearances in other states.
Furthermore, I am not a racist and will vote for whoever I think is the best person, man or woman, no matter their skin color or nationality. But the current President is doing so much damage to our country, that I feel it would be unlikely that the people would vote for another black person to follow him. This is unfortunate for Col. West, and although he should not be penalized for Obama’s actions against our country, I am sure this would hurt him with a lot of people. Obama’s attitude and actions have set the African-American people back and called into question their honesty and patriotism. It should not be this way, but that is the way it is and you must face the matter honestly. In spite of everything, what he does reflects more on black people than anyone else and hurts their efforts to move beyond racial stereotypes.

  49. No Mitt? How do I unsubscribe?
