  1. Sandi Trusso says:

Allen West is 100% correct… The American people have been looking for leadership since Ronald Reagan left office. In my opinion we’ve found it in Cong. (Lt. Col.) Allen West. Here is a man who knows our history, knows economics, knows our military, and is a man of complete honor! Plus, wouldn’t you love to see him in a debate with Pres. Obama?! Don’t know if he would actually run for President, but if he did he would lead us back to the great nation we once were, and I would be following right behind him!

  2. Brenda Helms says:

I would love to see Mr. West run. Not so hot about “the Donald”, Romney and others have already had a run. Love Sarah Palin. Would be a great ticket if they would run together! I’ve heard quite a few of his speeches, and he really stands out. The only problem would be who for Prez and who for VP

  3. Carol Lee says:

I would vote for Allen West in a heartbeat.
He is far superior to what CPAC put up for their straw poll. And Herman Cain …put him on the ticket, too. West is not my Rep (sigh …Dinosaur Porker Bill Young is). West just needs to keep getting out there on EVERY news outlet NOW. A breath of Fresh Air …and he scares the bejesus out of the Left. Gotta love it.

  4. Bob says:

Although I deeply respect Congressman West I feel that he needs more political “seasoning” before he’s ready for the next level.

A premature run by West may poison the well for any future Presidential run. For example, when Palin was announced as McCain’s running mate, many conservatives in my office asked me “who’s that?”. I had been aware of her about 6 mos. prior and was able to assure them that she had solid conservative bona fides. At the time I said that my only concern was that if McCain/Palin didn’t win, the Republicans would have sacrificed one of their potential future rising stars. I’m afraid at this point I may be proven right. Although Sarah has made great progress in becoming more media saavy and more informed, she has been so smeared by the LSM that she is considered un-electable by the vital middle.

All that being said, I’d be ecstatic if West were to gain the nomination. Besides, if West doesn’t run in ’12, there may not be a country to lead by the next go around in ’16.

  5. Miriam says:

I believe he is a good candidate for the VP ticket!!

    • sid says:

With all the great people who made the run for the ticket, the second tier “likely” VP position is really wide open. Lots of great people qualified and ready to lead. Some will need some more experiance to take the top job, should the need arrive, others would be ready “in a heart beat”.
The election of 2012 is the most important in 60 or more years, a great team is needed and they need a full set of Senators and House congressmen to support their tall agenda.

If West is not the VP, then somewhere in the administration is his next best way to prepare to run, later.

      This year the majority of the states will have their voice in the process, and the weak will fall out, only after being vetted by the public, not the Hacks in DC, who also may fall out {no more rino’s}

  6. Charlie Smith says:

Have “we the people” actually found another Reagan? Sure looks like it!!

  7. Joseph says:

He’s got my vote. If it appears he will run, just watch the liberal attack media go after him. I believe nothing that the media says.

  9. Flagwaver70 says:

I would personally carry Congressman/Lt. Col. (ret.) Allen West’s banner. Supported his run for office in 2010 and would LOVE him to run for President in 2012. But, then, we would probably have to listen to Rove and Krauthammer telling the world why he couldn’t win – just as they have done with other conservative candidates. But they’d be so VERY wrong. When Congressman West talks, he has so much common sense. It’s refreshing.

Did you know that Congressman West, while in battle, gave his personal flack jacket to a young soldier who didn’t have one? He did Now, that’s a LEADER I would follow.

  10. Richard Riker says:

Representative West is impressive in speech and in action. If, no strike that, When he decides to run for President I will be honored to work for him towards that end.

  11. Nat Rossin says:

What took you and others so long? Allen West is desparately needed to lead our country and restore our prosperity, security and traditions. If you match all of the dangers and theats that our nation faces whether they be economic, social or foreign affairs, Allen West would be the one best equipped to confront and resolve them. . As you said the old rules no longer apply and that includes legislative experience as seen by the incessant political rhetoric of longer term congressmen and senators concerned more with earmarks than following the urgent needs of our nation. I.E. the times and the dangers we face call for an extrraordinary leader who is a doer and an achiever. We have been blessed to have such a leader in Allen West..

  12. gary monk says:

Imagine a ticket consisting of Herman cain and Ltc West

  13. Trisha says:

George Washington didn’t want the job either but his country needed him…service is what Lt.Col. West knows.
At leastHE won’t NEED to spend $600,000,000.00 for a $400,000.00 a year job like the Narcissist-in-Chief!

  14. StarHawk says:

Yes, we NEED an intelligent man who can take down the corruption in government and restore FREEDOM once again. He needs to get rid of the Federal Reserve, too! I’m an Independent who saw through Obama. Unfortunately, most Independents voted for this “empty suit”. Never again, I hope.

  15. GenEarly says:

West for President, at least our next US Senator to replace that dimwit Nelson.

  16. Madmama says:

Time for the gloves to come off! The Republicans will lose if they try to give us ‘retreads’ for candidates such as Romney, Huckleberry, or Ron Paul. Sara Palin is too devisive although I love her (there would be so much distraction from the left, that nothing will get done). Donald Trump can give some common sense but the right wingers won’t accept him.
Allen West is a TRUE leader. I’ve supported him from the beginning and campaigned for him here in Fla. although I am not in his district.
He’s a liberal’s worst nightmare and seems to be the only man with b-lls in Washington today.
He can unite us all…even those who won’t vote for him. After they see a real leader in action and the country starts to get on the right track, they will realize what an amazing man Allen West is.

  17. jerry says:

WE NEED WEST NOW, i WOULD GIVE ALL I HAVE TO SEE HIM ELECTED PRESIDENT…….AND THE BEST PART IS THE DEMS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PLAY THE RACE CARD

  18. Marilyn E Mell says:

Representative West for Senator of FLORIDA!

  19. MonDayQB says:

The only weird thing I found as i read this article,,, is that I don’t think Allen West for President,, is weird at all.

  20. JE says:

Help draft Allen West for President! http://www.AllenWestforPresident.us

    JE

  21. Maria says:

I’ve read that so many of the men who served under Lt. Col. West in Afghanistan and Iraq say they would ‘go to hell and back with a gas can’ for the the Col. I will say right now the same for Congressman Allen West for President! I agree with Bob above: “..if West doesn’t run in ’12, there may not be a country to lead by the next go around in ’16.”

Javier, this article is suberbly well written and expressed: you have captured the heart and essence of so many of us that recognize Allen West as the great hope for our nation that he is. THANK YOU!

  22. Al from Fl says:

Congresman West and Senator Rubio are both well spoken and rising stars in the republican party. But I would hope that we will allow them to mature before pushing then into a presidential run in 2012. The best candidate for president tends to be one who has been a governor. We need a leader and one who knows how to govern as a president. I would also hope that once we pick the nominee for president on the republican ticket, we will get behind a single conservative message in which case it should be easy to win the presidency in 2012.

  23. Frank Carter says:

I supported Rep. West both with contributions and encouraging friends in his district to vote for him. He is the kind of leader we need. Put West and Cain against the Demo ticket and let the voters decide. No race card could be played. How would black America vote? I fear the big teat that supports them.. Obama would still win at least 75% of the black vote. It is up to the undecided 5%.

  24. Mary in Miami says:

This article laid out very clearly why Allen West needs to be the Republican nominee. I had been on the fence about who it should be, but now this article has made it very clear to me. It needs to be Allen West. The fact that he barely has experience as a legislator pales in comparison to the experience he has with one of the biggest parts of the Federal Government — the military. After retiring from the military after 20 years, he worked as a contractor for the Department of Defense, returning to Afghanistan as an advisor. The President of the United States is also the Commander in Chief, and Allen West is very knowledgeable and well experienced to do that job. Someone with his skills is much needed in this world we are facing.

West is a LEADER. He has led people in peacetime and in time of war. He has numerous awards including for valor. This is a man who can make careful and courageous decisions, the kind needed by a President.

Formally, he has two master’s degrees — Political Science and Military Arts and Sciences.

He is well educated, he is articulate, he knows the U.S. Constitution incredibly well, he has leadership skills, he is courageous, and he would do a great job as President. We need him. Allen West, please run.

  25. Jeff says:

I’m going to email him right now, even though I’m not in his district, though I badly wish I was, and ask him to consider it. I’d vote for him in less than a heartbeat.

That would make a very, very interesting presidential race, two African-Americans, one good, one evil. At any rate, the biased, Leftist-controlled media and Libtards in general, could never call us racist again, although they will surely try their best to do so. It seems that they hate minorities that turn against them and their agenda even worse than they hate us white folk.

  26. Tasha says:

What political experience did Dwight D. Eisenhower have before running for President?
What political experience did Obama have?
    Why NOT Allen West?

  27. Lightweight says:

The people need to stop being in a hurry to name tag the next president 2 years out and consetrate on today. The people need to understand leaders are not born they are cornered.Time will prove who will raise to the top.Part of why we keep getting poop for leaders is too many are eager to celebrate people too soon.Sarah Palin served 1 term on a local school board,1 term as Mayor and her job as governor was interupted to run as V.P. She could not complete her first term as governor because she had to back her attacking critics off in order to resumme any level of productive political efforts and then 2 years later she is s rock star ? The only thing that grows that fasty is weeds.Let Congressman West be a Congressman right now. This is why we keep electing celebraties and not leaders.

  28. John Roberts says:

YES!! I support Allan West for President —-in 2016!

He needs some time to get his political legacy established and gain real financial support. The GOP is still a mess with old school Beltway insiders & cone-heads. West will be a challenger to them as well as to the Donkey-party idiots. Lets start planning for 2016.

  29. honeygetoverit says:

If Allen West ran for President there is not doubt in my mind he would get it and we would FINALLY get some true leadership in the White House, and that’s not a bash against this administration only but the past few administrations as well. God speed.

  30. honeygetoverit says:

PS – Tasha is totally right – why NOT Allen West?

  31. Coco The Blowfish says:

    @Lightweight: I agree with you 100%

  32. DJ De Luca says:

Allen West would have my vote. In addition to his patriotism, clear thinking and integrity, he has all the charisma of Ronald Reagan. Even if his inexperience would prohibit a win in 2012 he would inspire our nation to rally behind the Conservative movement and pave the way for a win in 1216.

    Go West!

  33. Mary in Miami says:

To the people that recommend that Allen West wait until 2016: Why not put his name out there NOW? Ronald Reagan allowed for his name to be floated around as a candidate in 1968 and then he actively sought the nomination in 1976. When he gave his speech at the Republican National Convention in 1976, he made an INDELIBLE impression on everyone present. Delegates were left wondering if they had nominated the wrong man.

Get Allen West out there now, and if he doesn’t win the nomination, his speech at the convention (and, hopefully, they’d ask him to speak), will leave such an indelible impression, that he would very well be the President-elect in 2016.

Just look at Barack Obama — he gave a speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2006! He left such an impression on people, and look at where he is today.

    History can repeat itself.

  34. MassachusettsMoms says:

Rep LTC Allen West is ready to become our next President but we need to join forces and spread the word! He is doing his part, we need to do our part .. join together asap and WriteInAllenWestForPresident .. http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/pages/WriteinAllenWestforPresident/149440375106570
I’ll also join any group that will draft him .. we can win this with numbers. Please spread the word and lets do it!

ps- @MadMamma You are so right!!

  35. Sandman says:

Allen West will evoke the same reaction from the vitrioloic left that Sarah Palin did, they are the same type of person ideologically. Palin was vilified as not ready even though she was a mayor and a governor. West has never before held political office which would be his achillies heal. Of course he could fall back on his leadership skills from the military, but would that be enough? For me his convictions and ideology alone is enough, as is with Palin, but what about the middle? I’m torn, it’s so important not to give Obama another 4 years.

  36. Jay Narang says:

Javier, I have read many of your well articulated posts but this is by far the best piece you have ever written. In my humble opinion, the thing people must realize including Congressman West that he does not really need to prove himself in the halls of Congress to run for President as he already has proven himself in the United States military for 22 years. Infact, I feel that we do NOT want him to learn the ways of the dysfunctional Congress as it is today but to bring his fresh perspective to the White House and bring sanity back to the process. I agree with you, this is the right time for a Great Leader like Congressman West to occupy the White House. Especially, in light of what is happening in the middle-east and his profound knowledge on the subject.

  37. Chiefez says:

I also support Congressman (LtCol) West for president. I also believe that the grassroots conservatives will support him big time. My only concern is will the country club Republicans support him with the funds needed to run a presidential campaign? And even more worrisome is will they actively work behind the scene to get him defeated.

  38. Feg says:

Conservatives are being sucked into trying to nominate someone new and different to combat Obama. We’ve got inexperience on the job now and look what it’s gotten us. People see videos of West and Christie and react like liberals to Obama. Experience counts in everything else but suddenly not the most important job in the land? Get real…maybe one day but not yet…and I’m saying this as someone who likes West and Christie…

  39. I AGREE 100% WITH EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE OF THIS PIECE. THANK YOU!!!

I came to all these conclusions on November 9, 2010, and started my blog that very day:
West to the West Wing 2012
    http://westforwestwing2012.com/about/

    YES! DRAFT WEST!!

  40. StGeorgesCross says:

West is just the best thing out there but if another Republican won I think he should be Secretary of State! I think he is ready now for that position!

If West doesn’t run who do the Republicans have and do they have anyone who can win?
God forbid this country be subjected to 4 more years of that traitor we have in the White House now. I question whether our country can survive 4 more years of Obama. I believe he is purposefully and literally out to destroy the US. I fear for my children.

  41. [...] fast. Just last week, the Shark Tank opined that Allen West should be seriously considered for the Presidential ticket in 2012.  Subsequent to that op-ed piece was the confrontation that West had at a Pompano Beach townhall [...]

  42. Frank Malone says:

Carol, Sandi, Brenda…..please start paying attention to Actions and not Words.
West has absolutely no track record. Give the man a chance to prove himself in actions, not words.
Gee, the country got it totally wrong with Freshman Senator Obama and he even had 2-3 years
under his belt. West has 52 days. Come on. As Americans, we must be smarter than that.
Words, media sound bites mean absolutely nothing. The only thing that means anything is
    actions through his voting record.

Are you happy West is content with $61 Billion in Spending Cuts when the 2012 Budget deficit stands at $1.4 Trillion ?? Are you serious? That still leaves the budget $1.3 Trillion in the RED !!!
I’m sorry, that is not acceptable to me and not what I broke my back getting this man into office.
Combine this with the fact that our nation is $14 Trillion in debt already and acceptable becomes not toleratable. Go back and get it done right and get the budget balanced – period. 320 Million Americans are relying on 435 in the House to get it done and trust me – if they truly wanted to it would get done. They don’t. Most have sold out and I know if I was there I would make it very clear who those are and I would not accept failure for an answer.

Friends, quit looking at words and start focusing on actions.

  43. Frank Malone says:

One other thing…why didn’t the Republican Controlled House DEMAND a balanced budget?
They could have, if they truly wanted to, by not raising the DEBT LIMIT.

But, like I said, most of the 435 don’t want to get it done. Failure is ok with them.
Apparently, from what I see, failure is ok with West too.

  44. George Gray says:

Please please please everybody convince Allen West to run for President. Thsi country needs his integrity, courage, leadership and the principles he stands on. The [ep[;e wjhp are working to try to convince him to run are at http://www.allenwestnation.com,

  45. Ticked Off Too says:

Seriously, could you please stop putting the word “president” in front of that guys name every time you mention it?

Whatever happened to the “journalism” rules during the tenure of President Bush when it was stated they only needed to refer to him as President once in any given article and could then call him Bush.

The deference given to the felon in the WH has kept me from finishing many excellent articles. Since this article was about Congressman LTC Allen West, I made an exception. LOL!
