Thank you Congressman West for not allowing hecklers to disrupt your town hall. Over 300 questions were written by attendees and independent reviewers selected the actual questions to be asked. None were screened, and Congressional staff will follow-up with people who didn’t have their questioned answered.
It’s a shame that rude antisocial behavior by a few people disrupted town halls in other districts. Allen West handled the situation extremely well, and many questions were discussed and answered. Hecklers lost tonight.

This seems to be happening at various conservative gatherings around the country. It appears random but there seems to be a single motive behind the disruptions and a single direction. We had disruptions at our Conservative Forum meetings, the first I have ever seen but with this latest outburst it appears to be a planned disruption. Apparently the conservatives have been targeted for this tactic of disruption and intimidation…

U.S. Congressman Allen West (R – FL District 22) was stellar tonight in his Town Hall presentation and Q & A session except for his answer to a question on abortion. He said he was pro-life except in the case of rape, incest or life of the mother.
He needs some help on that one. “Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin.” (Deuteronomy 24:16) The prophet Ezekiel put it this way. “The person who sins is the one who will die. The child will not be punished for the parent’s sins, and the parent will not be punished for the child’s sins.” (Ezekiel 18:20 NLT)
Pastor Randy Alcorn has written, “Rape is never the fault of the child; the guilty party, not an innocent party, should be punished…Civilized people do not put children to death for what their fathers have done. Yet aborting a child conceived by rape is doing that exact thing. He is as innocent of the crime as his mother. Neither she nor he deserves to die….A child is a child regardless of the circumstances of his conception…A child conceived by rape is as precious as a child conceived by love, because a child is a child. The point is not HOW he was conceived but THAT he was conceived. He is not a despicable ‘product of conception’ but a unique and wonderful creation of God.” He notes that the great vocalist Ethel Waters was conceived after her 12 year old mother was raped.
The hand of God is involved in every child conceived. The Psalmist said, “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.” (Psalm 127:3) He makes them, they belong to Him, He gives them away. The circumstances of conception do not change that. And we who fear the Lord had better not challenge that fact. I’m hoping Mr. West will reconsider his position on abortion of those conceived by rape or incest.

Just saw the story earlier this week that leftists were going to try to disrupt townhall meetings. They call themselves “paying back” the tea party people for confronting Democrat congressmen last summer at their townhall meetings. The difference is that the tea party people waited until the “question and answer” periods and asked sensible questions. I really do believe leftists are brain damaged, seriously.

I was there at that meeting. This “lady” was seated right behind Congressman West’s wife. The order of the program was announced before the meeting started. If attendees wanted to ask West a question they were asked to write their question on a card before entering the hall. This woman ignored the order of the program and started raising her hand and talking soon after the program started. There were also two men who started shouting almost unintelligible rants soon after the program started. The crowd let them know they were out of line. They were ushered out first.
Congressman West is truly a man of integrity. There were pleas from the crowd urging him to run in 2012. He, again, said he has been in office 107 days and believes he can do more in the House of Representatives now. He didn’t rule out the future.

When you’re under arrest honey, you can’t decide what happens to your belongings, yes the cops can put their hands on you to direct you to where you are supposed to go. The officer in question was professional and patient, and you were being a blowhard from start to finish.
What really happened here is that you wanted to take charge of the entire situation and surpise, that didn’t work out well for you. Must be annoying that 10 people are listening to you rant, and there weren’t more. Which is why you came there in the first place.

Many liberals are comparing the town hall disruptions yesterday as legitimate discourse similar to the discourse two years ago by conservatives. This couldn’t be further from the truth. First, the conservative reaction to the power grab by Obama was a true grass root uprising that was not pre-planned and circulated through Facebook and Twitter. With the left, follow the tweets and you find core agitators and party officials. Further, think about how many tea party protesters were led away in handcuffs? ZERO. I listened to former Air America host Nicole Sheldon yesterday evening continue to shout and disrupt until she was physically removed from the venue and arrested. There’s a large difference between spontaneous reaction and carefully orchestrated malfeasance.
Congressman Allen West had the foresight to not allow political operatives to sabotage his town hall meeting. Sorry for not doing this in the above comment. I think that these things get widespread viewing, either here or on YouTube, and the net effect is: West gains support. And most people don’t care about politics one way or the other, but each time they see stuff like this, they see liberals for what they are, and get fed up at them. This happens little by little, but it happens.
While I’m on the fence about Col. West, I need someone from Shark Tank to answer a question for me if you’ve looked into it. I looked for a “contact” adress or search block and didn’t find it, so I’ll post this here.
Why did LTC West vote against cutting 11% from the legislative budget in Marsha Blackburn’s bill, which was included in H.R. 1, voted on in February? There were two more bills he voted against in this bill. He’s supposed to be a TEA Party patriot, primarily a fiscal conservative, so why does he earn a 76% from the Heritage Foundation for his budget-cutting votes? I think Eric Cantor is one of the biggest RINOs around and he earned a 90% for his votes on this bill.

The dems are trying to compare this to the spontaeous response of the tea party movement and others who were opposed to Obamacare. National polls consistently showed that this health care plan was very unpopular with the American people – yet the dems met behind closed doors after promising full transparency – and passed this huge bil that even senators and representatives that voted for the bill had not read or examined. The majority of folks at those town hall meetings were furious that they had been ignored by their representatives and in 2010 they took to the polls to voice their displeasure. Voters will have another opportunity in 2012. This town meeting did not compare to the rage following Obamacare – this crowd is hugely behind the congressman – there are only a couple of protestors whose purpose is disrupt speech – not to voice their displeasure or to ask questions. Looking forward to 2012 when we the people will have another opportunity to voice our unhappiness.

Just so I have this correct – when the tea party disrupted town halls, screamed over handicapped people asking questions about disability, booed elected officials to the point that the town halls could not even function – THAT was considered free speech and protected under the first amendment.
But when non-tea party members do it, it’s considered trespassing.

We had much higher taxes during WW II plus a massive war bond effort and we were still almost broke by the time the war was finally over. Economics doesn’t change, the same holds true now. The government GAVE UP massive amounts of income in order to give wealthy republican supporters massive tax cuts and then fought hugely expensive wars far overseas. Additionally, the wars were not funded in the budget, monies to fight the wars was BORROWED, largely from China. Where was the tea party anger when this occurred?
