Maybe Marco will turn out to be a politician with convictions. I think he would be a better agent for change by finishing a full term in the US Senate. After all most of the Vice Presidents duties are ceremonial. Spending 4 or 8 years as an understudy while going to foreign funerals is not much of a resume extender. Keep in mind that while he might be a great Vice President, he would be muffled by the policies of the President. If we select someone like Romney, that could be a more moderate position than Mario’s conservative positions and we may loose to Obama. I like Mario as a Senator and he can be a great spokesman for conservative positions while in the Senate and more important is having him on the campaign trail helping us get a conservative majority in the US Senate. We will not start to take the country back to a more conservative position until we have a majority conservative House and Senate and the President.
Marco just got into the Senate! Let him build a record before he heads up to the Presidential field.
The pundits cannot see the forest for the trees.
They have the Vice Presidential candidate that can deliver all that Rubio may and more; that candidate is JEB BUSH!
I am as conservative as they come and I would never ever support another Bush or Clinton…. These “Dynasty” families are not the way to go……..
Maybe Marco knows that he doesn’t meet the Constitutional requirement to be a “natural born citizen”. That is, born on American soil to two citizen parents.
Marco’s parents were legal resident aliens at the time of his birth. They were later naturalized. Marco is native born, and a citizen under the current interpretation of the XIVth Amendment, but falls short of the “natural born” requirement.
Amendment XIV. Section 1. of the constitution reads “All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.” The question of parents being citizens came up in the case of Sen. McCain because he was not born in the U.S. but both his parents were citizens.
Excerpts from SR 511 regarding McCain:
“Whereas the term `natural born Citizen’, as that term appears in Article II, Section 1, is not defined in the Constitution of the United States;
Whereas previous presidential candidates were born outside of the United States of America and were understood to be eligible to be President; and
Whereas John Sidney McCain, III, was born to American citizens on an American military base in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That John Sidney McCain, III, is a `natural born Citizen’ under Article II, Section 1, of the Constitution of the United States.”
The Founders drew the term “natural born” from de Vattel’s “Law of Nations”. Their intentions were further made clear during the 1st Congress’ Naturalization Law of 1790. Also SCOTUS ruling in Minor v Hapersett confirms this definition of TWO CITIZEN PARENTS.

We are pulling for Marco in the Senate, but I agree that he is not eligible for V.P or President.
Check the Supreme Court ruling “Minor vs. Happersett” – 1874 for confirmation. The ruling defines the term “Natural-Born-Citizen” very clearly.

No one can “run” for Vice President. He is *chosen* by the presidential candidate to run with him.
Marco Rubio must be the Vice President nominee. Like George Washington, who did not want to serve a second term, answered the call of the people and served the second term. I feel that Marco Rubio is the answer for the Republicans winning the 2012 election regardless of who the Presidential nominee is. Rubio will serve not only the State of Florida but the entire United States. He does have enough experience and most importantly, what is so sorely lacking today, COMMON SENSE.

Every member of Congress is in violation of their oaths to preserve & protect the Constitution by virtue of their acceptance of the Electoral College votes without scrutiny.
They know what the requirements are. They were issued a memo by Jack Maskell of the Congressional Research Service as cover. They know the requirements for POTUS because they tried to change them no fewer than 8 times over the past decade or so.

We either adhere to the Constitution, or we practice situational ethics like the progs. I LOVE Rubio. It tears me up to have to disqualify him for VP/POTUS.
True, it is very sad to disqualify a good individual from high office.
However, the consequences for being discovered as a “usurper” to high office are disasterous for everyone.

I so agree with you! I believe the last person to vet Barry was Chaney. If Marco is selected, the GOP is also vetting someone who is not eligible per the Constitution. Personally, I’m tired of it being torn to shreds I want conservatives to win, but by obeying our Constitution.

There is a difference between the designation U.S. Citizen, and the “Natural Born” designation required for high office.
Your parents must be born here, or naturalized here, prior to your birth. The Senator’s parents were naturalized here after his birth, as you can research.
However, our Senator is a citizen, and will become a great leader in the Senate.
He needs to produce his birth cert. We don’t want those foriegns holding office if they’re not one of us.
Marco Rubio is not a natural born citizen. He has a record of Amnesty,and as Mel Martinez replacement who went to D.C. to gather the Hispanic vote for the GOP.Remember his promise during the campeign he said he was against Amnesty in 2006 and spent 2006 and 2007 pushing thru Amnesty when America melted the phone lines ? And the governor appointed George LeMieux because they could not have Martinez in office as 2008 rolled aorund because the People would have fresh in their memory and not just Mel would be sent home,but many republicans.The GOP had to work on the people’s short memory.And Now Rubio say on the Immigration Bill as a State Senator 6 times, aggreeing we need “comprehensive immigration reform,” never demading the law be enforced.You People have a short memorry and will see Amnesty come to pass because Shark Tank keeps reminding People Marco Rubio is a legaend in People’s mind, and not in facts. I have been called a birther (which I am, thought the name birther is a pejorative to me) and a Ron Pauler, which I am not. If the GOP also suspends the Constitution, we really are wasting our time blogging and trying to “educate” people. And that would be “again” for McCain was not NB, either. Thanks to the dems he was vetted, but only so no one would ask about Barry.
I think that his strategy is to say “no.” Then, if the party is stupid enough to nominate Mitt Romney, he can say, “I have always said that I have no interest.” SMART!!!
In truth, it would be hard to imagine Rubio teaming up with “Mr. Wall Street.” He would bring so much to a Romney candidacy. Why do it! Mitt Romney is what Rubio campaigned against in the Florida Senate race, “the Arlen Specter wing of the party.” America doesn’t need Charlie Crist in the white house!

One wouldn’t know. I don’t. But my gut tells me, “no.”
I do think, however, that he would run with Rick Perry. Here’s why:
Perry stood up for the tuition waiver for students who were illegally in the country. Perry stood by his decision, even though the was ridiculed and demeaned by “blue state neo-cons.” These included Bachmann and Romney. However, Jeb Bush supported Perry’s decision. So did Rubio.
In short, the Republican party needs to come to it senses and realize that “you can learn more about a candidate from his tenure in a large, diverse state than through a scripted, pre-ordained debate.” Romney has done nothing over the past four years, other than publish a ghost written book and sell six or seven residences. Likely, a lot of time was spent in front of the mirror, practicing for anticipated debates. Perry had been running Texas. Big difference!
Perry and Rubio come from similar modest backgrounds. Perry is the son of Tenant farmers. Rubio is the son of a bartender and a hotel maid. They connect. And, they are ideologically close. Romney is the “slick, rich guy,” born a millionaire from an elite family. Like Obama, he is another Harvard lawyer. Rubio and Perry attended large, state supported universities. They have lived with “average folks.”
Yes, Rubio is doing everything right. By staying out of the fray, he can allow the Republicans do another 1996. As you may recall, Bob Dole didn’t do so hot that year. Expect a repeat if Romney is the nominee. It is a mathematical certainty. Romney will fall short with “blue collar” Democrats, Hispanics and Evangelicals. Republicans must do well with all three to win.
Chris Chritie’s endorsement will help; in the states the Republicans won’t win anyway. He supports gun control and same sex marriage. That makes him a loser in the south.
I can understand Rubio choosing to stay in the senate. He does excite the base, but I like that he appears to stand on principle. The link below is to a story from another conservative blog. If true it is somewhat troublesome:

I hope he isn’t planning on throwing his support to Romney. That would be a huge disappointment.

Have we forgotten that there are three branches of govt- the executive, the legislative and the judicial? Reagan’s first term is a case in point that a strong president does not protect us from a weak Congress.
Senator Rubio has a critically important job and I, for one, would encourage him to stay right where he is and continue to develop his position as power broker.

Marco, great guy and proud to be a Floridian with him as my senator. At the end of the day as valuable as he is as senator and I would miss him very much as my senator… That said, if he can help deliver the White House which I am having serious concerns over given the performance of the current 8 GOP contenders I would sacrifice his senate seat for his ability to deliver the White House… We cannot afford another 4 years with Obama at the helm. In fact, I am not sure we can afford another 16 months… At the end of the day, I believe the big dogs of the GOP will pressure Rubio to take the job… Its kind of amazing how things can change when they bring you in, close the doors and tell you how its going to be…. If not Marco, assuming Cain is not the nominee, I think the nominee should consider him as VP… He is smart, likable and black; I assume he can split some portion of the black vote, moreover he is well liked in the south which is sort of strange considering the south’s reputation for being racist… ANYBODY BUT OBAMA
