The “Guest-Worker” program if initiated, should depend on supply and demand within our labor force. Currently, the USA has many unemployed, and the demand for “guest-workers” should be at a low-point.
Flooding our job market with cheap labor from other nations will not improve our unemployment situation. American Citizens seek work out of necessity during lean-times, and many will step-out of their previous fields of employment to feed their families. Should these potential vacancies be filled by cheap-labor from other nations, there are no incentives for employers to hire tax-paying Americans.
The pathway for entering the USA should be through legal immigration leading to citizenship. This results in the creation of a tax-paying American Citizen, that may appreciate their new home.
The law exists, we need to utilize it. We owe no apologies, it’s our nation.
Newt’s approach to his illegal immigration program makes sense. I like the idea that they (ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS) can’t get to vote and that they will only be legal residents and families wont be separated. It’s a good trade off but like Newt said… We must seal off the boarder first! In a general election, Hispanic’s would vote for him BIG time! Could you imagine a Gingrich/Rubio ticket? Wow! I would love to see those two debate Obama and Biden!
Yes, it sounds like Newt is trying to be realistic.
A nice thought about Marco Rubio, but he is not eligible under the law. Check U.S. Supreme Court Ruling 88 U.S. 162, it very clearly explains eligibility for President and V.P.
Liberals need to see what being Brilliant sounds like. NEWT and MARCO would be AWESOME.
With all of his faults Newt is right about his (current ) immigration stance that there should be a form of legality for long time residents with families, good work histories, no felonies and wholesome community involvement (not LaRaza!). Of course, they should not be given full citizenship and definitely not allowed to vote. After all, it is our government that permitted them to come and stay and raise their families here. Our legal immigration system is beyond stupid! And neither party will attempt to fix it –why is that? We should have a worker program as needed (if we’re going to pay citizens 99 weeks for not working and give them food stamps, housing allowances, etc., we’re going to continue to need outside workers) BUT it should be administered by the private sector –as Manpower or other business that knows how to do these things without a million man bureaucracy. And on the high end we should allow unlimited visas for those educated here to keep that brainpower and source of entrepreneurial businesses in our economy –now, we’re outsourcing to them. Virtually everything FedGov does is counter-productive.
Illegal is illegal and they must GO.
Big business wants the cheap labor and the republican party is the stooge for big business so you’ll never hear a republican saying that they must go other than the voters. The elected officials want the campaign cash/bribes so they will do nothing.
Finally a presidential candidate ( Newt ) has spoken from the heart on illegal immigration. I think Newt and Romney ticket will be ideal.
early on, the CFR said we would never secure the borders…..guess this particular member still supports the lack of borders, the signifcance of culture, language and such….no suprise to me
THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF ALL OF THIS IS THE COST TO OUR NATION IN JOBS AND GOVT. PROGRAMS. — ANY SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS THEM TO BE LEGAL RESIDENTS MUST PROHIBIT THE TAKING OF ANY MONEY IN GOVT. PROGRAMS.
CURRENTLY STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT THE COST IN GOVT PROGRAMS FOR ILLEGALS IS A HALF A TRILLION DOLLARS NATION WIDE—PER YEAR!!!
THAT WORKS OUT TO 5 TRILLION DOLLARS OVER THE TYPICAL GOVERNMENT BUDGET CALCULATIONS. WE COULD TRIM OUR BUDGET 4 TIMES MORE THAN IMMEDIATELY NEEDED AND WE WOULD GET BACK OUR AAA BOND RATING IN THE PROCESS.
BOTTOM LINE — THEY ARE ILLEGAL WHY SHOULD WE REWARD THEM WITH OUR TAX MONEY ??? THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE JUST COMMON SENSE!
IF WE APPLY E-VERIFY TO JOBS AS WELL AS GOV BENEFITS AND AT THE SAME TIME REDUCED THE NUMBER OF WEEKS FOR UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION WE COULD REPLACE ILLEGALS WITH AMERICAN CITIZENS WHO WON’T SEND 20 PERCENT OF WHAT THEY MAKE EACH WEEK BACK TO THEIR HOME COUNTRY. WITH THAT MONEY STAYING HERE IT WOULD INCREASE GDP AND TURN OUR ECONOMY AROUND. LIKE I SAID — NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.
Newt is the first with a real plan.. But if you read all his plans the unemployed and looking for work and on the dole types MUST go to training or school to collect any FED money. So if a job is available and they are not in school or traing (we have 150+ job training programs.) no money, sorry. All of the above comments are good..No Draft of anyone yet..unless you want to put Palin for interior dept, Bachman for Senate, West for Senate and any one for Senate to replace the “old and dumb $h*t’s now there. I & R & Big R’ers/Rino’s.
