One thing certain… these Republican Candidates have had all their warts and shortfalls exposed during this lengthy and painful vetting process of the Primary debates, interviews and campaigning. Getting all this out on the table early is good. It will seem like “old news” if the Democrats try to use it. We sure are going to know what we are getting when we go to the Primary Polls… IF you have been paying attention, that is and not just a “jump-on-the-bandwagon” voter. HEY… where was the “vetting” for Obama when he ran…ooops, can’t say anything, that’s racist, you’re a bigot, etc., etc.
You have that right, he still has not been vetted.
The good thing is that he can only make ONE GREAT IMPRESSION.
Hey, Great post, Rose!!! Exactly what I have been saying all along.
The ‘lame-stream’ media have gone to the dumpsters looking for all the dirt they can find to sling concerning Republicans…doing their best to destroy ANYONE who would defeat Obama. But, they are so good at digging…but they can not/will not go digging in the dumpsters to find ANYTHING AT ALL about their Messiah…no classmates, no girlfriends, no school records, no social security numbers, no nothin’….typical Chicago politics..Don’t see or know NOTHIN’…even when in front of their faces.
Guys, do you want to tell me that Karl Rove is some kind of saint?
He’s been running dirty campaigns for years and you’re acting like the Democrats invented “dirty politics”!!
Hell, our boy Newtie was one of the early champions of smash mouth, in your eye type of politics and now he cries when it’s directed at him.
You folks are so funny.
Agree, our candidates have certainly been vetted! This is what’s great about democracy and freedom to choose our best candidate for a very serious job – leader of the free world. Question is, “are we free? Will we save America?”
When you mention Newt supported Romneycare, this is another way that the media manipulates. Newt supported the Heritage Foundation and Newt’s positions all along have been FEDERAL insurance mandates. Governor Romney tackled a failing Emergency Room situation in Mass that people used for FREE for their primary care, where the rest of the citizens were charged exorbitant insurance premiums. What he did was reform PRIVATE insurance – it had NOTHING to do with Obamacare which is a federal overtake of every aspect of our lives, including hundreds of statements in Obamacare saying “to be decided later by the Chairman.” Frankly, quoting Nancy Pelosi, “we won’t know what’s in it until we vote for it!” Anyone who tries to compare what Romney did in Mass legally with 10th amendment rights and the overhaul of democracy – is a liar.
The SPIN that is being put upon the GOP is that we are all unhappy with our candidates – this is not true! Don’t believe it.
Romney could be our next Reagan – he brings brilliance, stature and quality to the office of President!
Please consider everyone – who is behind this campaign that GOP is not satisfied with our candidates? This is blatant propaganda!
Who stands to gain from this campaign? Obama? Rick Perry? Sarah Palin? Donald Trump?
If the GOP is too stupid to see through this spin and keep looking or candidates … we’ll start getting third party candidates like Gary Johnson now from NM running as a libertarian (he should have run for that party to start with, because he is a libertarian).
The press drones “who will be the surprise for the GOP?” This is just to condition us to “expect” someone new … and, at the last minute, with little time to vet — we’ll have another John McCain.
It has been a fair debate, a long debate and the candidates that were desperately sought to replace our current group of “non satisfied candidates” – have all been of less quality, with baggage and inability to attract sufficient support.
It now stands with Newt or Mitt — Newt has insurmountable baggage that will be used against him. Romney is a better debate than hot air Newt — we have only 2 days before first votes come in …
I beg that we all stand tall and unify … wisdom says that Romney would be a superior President to Obama. The GOP with a past where “we eat our own” has to stop … this election is too important to keep grappling like a bunch of school children.
Obama has his $1 billion working against GOP now and it makes sense that that money is repetitively infiltrating the airways saying: “The GOP is unhappy with their candidates.”
The only way Obama can win is with a fragmented GOP!
IF THINGS REMAIN THE SAME ,AFTER 02-01-2012,START A DRAFT FOR JEB &RUBIO.
2012 will be too late….
As a Florida conservative I will definitely agree with putting Marco Rubio on a ticket but not Jeb. I remember how he allowed the orange growers to invade our private property and cut down trees that weren’t infecting just because they were in proximity. I believe in free enterprise and if your business survives great but don’t step on my rights in the mean time. Was glad when a hurricane spread the canker and abruptly stopped any more private property invasions.
Not only that, but, like his brother, he would do everything he could to get a ‘comprehensive’ plan passed which would include amnesty for millions of illegals. Having a hispanic wife, he would probably push even harder!
Have you been drinking? Our Constitution does not allow the President and the VP to be from the same state.
Richard DeNapoli is a fraud put in place by Chip LaMarca and the old guard of BREC.
Javier, I don’t pretend to have even a fraction of your political savvy, but I don’t see anything “deficient” about Bachmann or Santorum. To me, they’re both right on the economy, right on national defense, and right on the social issues. They have been consistently conservative and aren’t afraid to speak of their religious faith, as unpopular as that seems to have become in today’s post-Christian society. My own opinion is that we have allowed ourselves to buy into the “mainstream” media’s lies that Bachmann and Santorum are “unelectable.” Who’s telling us this? The same people who tell us that the only “electable” Republican candidate is Mitt Romney–the 2012 version of John McCain. The Republican Establishment and the progressive media like Romney because he will do little or nothing to slow our march toward national socialism. We’ve been moving at the double-quick for the last three years; Romney would do little more than slow us down to a stroll. As for me and my house, the heck with “electability”! I’m sick to death of holding my nose and voting for Establishment picks Bob Dole and John McCain. For ONCE I want to mark my ballot for someone I believe in!
What’s likely “deficient” about both Bachmann or Santorum probably relates to the strength of their respective campaigns as they now stand along with their chances of winning either a primary or a general election.
What’s deficient about Mrs. Bachmann is her intelligence.
Let’s meet at the Teheran US Embassy and discuss how the Founding Fathers, slave owners all, worked “tirelessly” I believe was her description, to end slavery.
A member of the Congress that can’t even remember grade school civics/history and you folks believe that she is capable of running this country and dealing with foreign leaders!! I don’t think so.
Javier – your site really needs an “ignore this poster” function.
Bachman could handle the position, if she followed Constitutional law. She will never be elected, she’s too far to the right, and disliked by liberal female voters. Additionally, she might resist having the cabinet stacked with Trilateral Commission, and Council of Foreign Relations members. As a famous Dr. once said ” The Trilateral Commission IS the President of the United States.” So anyone with and independent, Constitutionalist agenda such as Bachman, will be left behind. She still has many good ideas, but that’s what they will remain, only ideas.
Yes Dan, you are right. The only two Conservatives in the Bunch worth voting for are Bachman and Santorum. Perry, Romney, Huntsman, and Gingrich are all Establishment republican Liberals, and Paul has too much controversy to look appealing for the middle of the road independents. As a conservative that prefers a strictly Constitutional Representative, I find them all lacking, but would settle for either Bachman, or Santorum, or Both in any order. The only thing that I am certain of at this time is, that I will not vote for any liberal on either side of the isle as they are no different politically.
Problem is Romney’s the only Rep. that’ll beat Obama in Nov. and we need to get our heads outta the sand and face that. Santorum couldn’t even win his own Sen. race in 1 state, for God’s sake! I hate the fact RINO Mitt’s our best shot but this country’s too f***** up and misguided with entitlemant hooked losers to choose a polar opposite
to Obama right now. This kind of ideological purity obsession is what got Reid, Boxer, Murkowski and Brown reelected. Newt’s an old white guy with silver hair and we will NEVER see another one win the WH, esp. from the GOP. Mitt’s not a kid but far less “old looking”. Is all that
shallow and disgusting? Hell, yeah, but it’s where this
nation’s stupid DWTS brain is at now. All you Ron Paul
zealots, I love your passion but forget it. All you’ll do is elect Obama 4 more yrs. Defeating him is paramount and it may take 2-3 eloections to steer the nation to the right as we wish. We overreach, we lose!
Right on Dan Philips…glad to read some comments here with some REAL common sense. I’m with you. Rick & Michele will just have to forget what the RNC all the rest of the elites think and say…and that includes the analysists/media. The Debates are of no value. Just gives the Socialist/Marx ammunition to pick something that is said during the primary to use against the nominee. I met both Michele and Rick in Iowa this summer. Two very good solid Americans. In fact, saw them all. I think we have some strong people as candidates and if they would all get together we could have a whale of a New Administration with some really intelligent Cabinet Members. Even Ron Paul as head of Federal Reserve..he seems to understand the ‘money’! Sarah Palin knows Energy. There would be a great administration with some good minds!!!
The Republicans need to choose the best candidate, and go with that. Each candidate has their strong and weak points, splitting the party will lead to defeat in 2012. Jeb and Marco might be a nice thought, but research the Bush association with Dresser Industries and Halliburton first. Additionally, Marco’s parents weren’t citizens at the time of his birth, and that presents legal issues for qualification for office. The selection process continues.
Obama’s parents weren’t citizens either. We obviously don’t use that rule of law any more. It got thrown out with all the other laws Obama doesn’t like. I am sure the liberals will expect the GOP to follow it but what can they say while Obama sits in the Oval office?
Yes, people talk about Marco not being a citizen…but hey…where is the actual REAL truth about Obama. Don’t you think HE OPENED the door for ANYONE to become president???? hehehe
Nobody questions whether Rubio is a citizen. The problem is he is not a “natural born” citizen as the constitution specifies because his parents were not citizens when he was born.
Most likely Romney and Condi Rice will be on the GOP ticket. That’s what they want, and most likely what they will get. The rest is window dressing for the masses. Very true, Marco is a citizen, but not natural born according to the law. The penalties for holding high office when you’re not qualified could be extreme when pushed to the fullest extent of the law. Those in power choose seem to overlook that fact at the present, but it’s still something to consider.
Marco was not natural born? Oh was he a test tube baby?
I’m for all of the above with Ron Paul at the bottom of the list, not far behind Romney. Perry’s getting the crowds in Iowa now and has best chance of resurgence vis a vis Bachmann and Santorum who lack the quality of exective experience. If Perry can continue to rebuild his mojo and avoid awful gaffes, then he’s the one to rally around. He’ll be attacked anyway like he was by the 8 minute snippets of a 28 minute dinner speech. To the the truth, I’d go for Huntsman long before Romney. Just don’t trust someone as much without a well educated faith.
Rick Perry has NO Intelligence and cannot get a STRONG Hold on the GOP.
He should stay in Texas. He “retired” from the State of Texas, other than Gov., where he “retires” with a pension of $7,700 PER MONTH,PLUS his $133K salary as Texas Gov.He is a TYPICAL politician! What are the typical Americans, who have to work for a living and pay into these Mandated Pension plans, going to do? These jerks, who put into place when things were going good, to retire real good, Now he wants to represent Americans? Give me a Break! We must realize that ALL of the US Congress income rose 15% in last 8 years and the US citizens income dropped 8%!!WAKE UP AMERICA!! Get rid of these people and please don’t support them to make themselves more $$$!! But we need to get behind ONE candidate to BEAT Obama or he will Slide right back into Office & with that toothy grin on his face, laughing ALL of the way!!
Agree, Rick. When the time comes that’s exactly what we all need to do and do it individually…via internet to our friends. At the coffee shops and via the Tea Party Patriots! We ALL need to make SURE the guy in the White Hut departs come January 20, 2013! He is doing more damage on a daily basis and will continue until the day he leaves. Keep eyes and ears open and don’t let down your guard.
No matter what polls may say, Rick Perry still looks to be the best alternative to Mitt Romney. And, in a general election, more electable. Here’s why:
Romney doesn’t connect with Evangelicals. The media is downplaying it. But, an LDS will have trouble in the “Baptist Bible Belt.” A lot of these people won’t say anything. They’ll simply stay home!
Romney is weak with a key faction: “Blue collar” Democrats. Also known as “Reagan Democrats” they typically vote for the Republican. But not always! Romney is seen by these voters as the “slick, rich guy.” Obama will wage a “class warfare campaign” in November. Romney’s 200 million in the bank and legacy of “restructuring, outsourcing and profiting” in his Bain Capital Days will work against him. It’s possible many of these voters will hold their nose and vote for Obama. Perry, on the other hand, is “one of them.” His former membership in the party works to his advantage. So does his “plain folks appeal.” The “son of millionaire governor” versus the “son of tenant farmers” would be compared and contrasted! Think about it!
Romney has never connected with Latinos. Republicans must win 30%, prefeably 40% of this imporetant block. Romney will be fortunte to win 20%. That could be a “kiss of death” for Republicans. Perry, on the other hand, received 40% of the Hispanic vote in the 2010 Texas Governors general election. If he selects Susana Martinez as his running mate, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico will be off the board.
A sweep of the South, Plains and Mountains will equate to 257 eelectoral votes. In short, a win in Ohio or a combination of wins in Iowa and Indiana will put the Republicans over the top. This is what Perry brings to the table.
Can Mitt be as successful. I wouldn’t bank on it! He is simply too weak with those three factions. True, he might turn Pennsylvania into a 52-48 loss for the GOP as opposed to a 54-46 loss. But who cares? A loss is a loss!
Perry is strongest in the states where the party will have it’s best chance of victory. I believe that a Perry-Martinez ticket would win Florida handily. Especially if Jeb and Rubio were actively campaigning for it!
Please no more Mel “Bushie” Martinez !!!!! What’s with the love affair of some people with the New World Order Bushie’s? Also spare me Bono-Mack for US Senate too! If the RINO’s keep stinking up the tent with their Progressive Poop and Progressive Candidates; I’m out the door, the stench is overwhelming.
Progressives only like Progressives, that’s why there is very little Conservatism once these liars are elected,to them the Tea Party is just a bunch of useful idiots on election day and to be forgotten asap on arrival in Washington..
Hey come on Gen Early…YOU are off the wall.
You haven’t been doing any research as to Connie Mack’s voting record. I keep track of his every vote and he is RIGHT ON track as far as I’m concerned. I AM a TRUE Conservative. So, don’t say Connie is a R.I.N.O. no way!
And…add to your comment of the Tea Party Patriots…you don’t have a clue…you have just been listening to the ‘lame-stream’ media…and must be a Troll who just came on the scene. Cheerio..pip pip!!!
No to Jeb.. Country wont vote another Bush. Tired of political dynasty.
RUBIO/RYAN would make me happy.. We need a new face to the GOP.. We need a candidate that Excites and speaks his or her heart. One that has a plan and knows how to implement it. We can tell when the words are plastic.
Diane…I like both of those men too. But, we have time for them..they are young. MUST get control of both Houses of Congress and the White House again. It will be a long, difficult job to UN-DO all the damage that has been done to this country. It can not be done over-night..but can be done with the efforts of good, solid people.
On a side note, I might add:
Republicans need to turn up the pressure on Reince Pribus and company in regard to the selection of moderators in the upcoming debates. In 2008, we had three debates. All three were moderated by Democrats. Michael Steele was promised “consideration” in 2012. It’s 2012 and it’s time for that “consideration.”
Republicans need to be extremely forceful. In 1980 there was no end to the arguing and bickering when it came to selecting moderators. In the end there was one debate between Reagan and Carter. There were three moderators: A Republican, a Democrat and an unknown. The unknown was 33 year-old Fred Barnes.
Republicans need to insist on Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Laura Ingraham, maybe even Rush Limbaugh. Why not! Fair is fair! If the Dems refuse, we can simply forego the debates. They are not required, after all! And, if Perry is the nominee, we might be better off without the debates!
Realistically, I think Perry will surprise. We must not forget that he was hammered from “the right” in the previous debates. The vaccine and tuition waiver questions are certain not to come up. Perry is on fairly solid ground in foreign policy. I think that his record on the economy is his strong suit. Perry’s ideas on energy can be an asset. So is his actual experience. His proposal on education is creative. His environmental record is superlative.
Obama doesn’t want to get into a discussion on “crony capitalism.”
I think Perry could expose the overall “shallowness” of Barack Obama. In the end end, the Texas Governor would say, “he wasn’t nearly as tough as Michelle Bachmann when it came to debating.”
The problem is that none of the candidates are electable except for Romney and he is a Demopublican RINO. Ron Paul is right 95% of the time but the 5% will get us all killed. Bachman is a republican woman and therefore considered the devil by all non republicans. Newt is brillant 80% and total flake job nut case 20% of the time. Perry will be eaten alive by Obama and media. (Remember Palin treatment?) What we will end up with is 3 candidates and we will hand Obama the country with 34% of the vote. He can get that just from the entitlement contingent. We need to get serious about one candidate and support him/her to the bitter end. Santorum might be best bet. Who knows what is hiding in his closet? As far as executive experience. Any experience will be better than the experience we have in power now. I’ll take a McDonalds manager at this point.
I don’t see why you consider Romney “electable”. He is the poster child for “the best government money can buy” and supports the neocon’s endless wars and occupations. Most of the country is fed up with both of those things. Obama will eat him for lunch. I have a personal grudge against him because I’m a Massachusetts Republican and voted for him only to have “Romneycare” shoved down my throat. If he were running against the Devil himself, I would cast a write in ballot.
Bachman is more loyal to Israel than America. I supported Barry Goldwater back when Johnson was calling him “Goldwarrier” but Bachman is too fond of bloodshed to be trusted with Nuclear weapons.
Romney is electable because is clean, looks the part, a family man, and has little dirt in his past.
Most importantly, he will work with the Trilateral Commission and the Council of Foreign Relations. Condi Rice as V.P. would be a natural for many reasons. Most importantly, she has membership in the T.C. and C.F.R., she’s on the Board at Rand Corp, and many other deep affiliations. Government is much like a carnival ride, you think you’re in control, but the ride has other operators.
A President will not make-it alone in this country. Barry Goldwater, who was another Constitutionalist, was quickly bypassed with many good ideas as well. The ideal election would bring the USA back to founding principals, but unfortunately, America has changed.
“Ron Paul is right 95% of the time but the 5% will get us all killed”
Do some more research – you may want to rethink that theory.
http://www.foreignpolicyjournal.com/2011/12/24/ron-paul-propagandist-or-prophet/
Love your last comment..or even Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse…lol
Don’t be so scared of the “entitlement contingent” as most all are not registered to vote.
Doesn’t matter – with Holder at Justice, they will be permitted to vote anyway, even without registration, probably several times…
I suppose the author would prefer an interminable series of TV attack adds like those of previous elections. We may eventually see them but it will be too late by then. Personally I am suspicious of any candidate backed by large contributions from unknown donors. It is a pretty sure sign that he has sold out to special interests who are expecting to gain the right to pick our pockets in return when he gets elected.
If getting a ticket like Paul Ryan & Marco Rubio as VP is not possible then the only viable alternative is Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio.
Either of these two tickets gives us a strong, calm, knowledgeable president with Rubio a sure thing for president in 8 years.
Think about it – imagine how the whole country can change with 16 years of level headed, conservative/right of center leadership.
Rubio is key in that he can secure the Latino vote…and Jeb would also contribute to solidifying that base. None of these 4 has the kind of unhappy baggage that the current roster of candidates have.
And that will go a long way toward neutralizing the media, which truly is the biggest enemy we face.
Stop thinking yesterday or the dynasty stuff. Anyone who watched Jeb over his 8 years in Florida should know that he doesn’t roll over for anyone and can debate as well as Gingrich anytime minus the trainload of Newt’s completely indefensible baggage.
Remember the goal is to win, not form a circular firing squad that we have endured to date – much to our extreme disadvantage.
The goal is to WIN.
Unfortunately Rubio has been co opted by Senators McCain and Graham, go look at his most recent votes, he is voting lock in step with the Progressives, not good.
No, the goal is to elect someone who is good for the country. In any case, none of those people are running and it is too late to start. In theory, a deadlock at the convention could fall to an outsider but but I wouldn’t vote for a candidate chosen that way. It would certainly not be a real conservative.
When are ALL of you Republicans going to learn?? JEB BUSH’s wife WILL NOT let him run for any office! Period!! She controls him, just like the Lobbyists have done for years!! Rubio, want to check his Family’s pass, I will BET you that his parents were PAID by the USA all of the time they were “eligible”, like SO many Cubans who ran from Cuba to load up Miami and NOT be really eligible for ANY money!!But you go down there & see how well they live. They came here and were educated and paid Gov’t money from elementary school through college and did not even have to be included in the “Selective Service” military drafts! We just had a US Senator, who quit, that was educated by US tax dollars and what did he do for the USA? (Mel Martinez??).
Couldn’t agree with you more. Was living in Miami when Jeb was Governor. And he is married to a great Mexican wife. And has a son who is now an attorney and would wow the young female voters. Jeb however could not legally choose Rubio as his running mate. Right now, I am leaning to Romney, a savvy business man whose family was raised in Chihuahua, Mexico. And Marco for VP. Marco will be our first Cuban American President in the near future. Hey people, there is NO perfect candidate. A very conservative candidate can NOT pull in the Independents that we need in order to win.
Re:Deecal
Problem is both Floridians..just won’t cut it with the rest of the country. We still need Marco in the Senate with Connie Mack to help him. Get Bill Nelson OUT OF THERE as he voted against every Marco vote.
Yes Jeb was a good Governor but if he were interested in some other post I’m sure he could be considered. 3 Cheers for the Sunshine State!
Jav,
What is increasingly clear to me is that no Republican candidate will win the General Election without the goodwill of Ron Paul supporters. There are just too many of us to discount. The Republican candidates need to let us know what we will get in return for our support if Paul (or when) Paul does not get the nomination.
I see no one co-opting any of his positions, and the “At least the nominee won’t be Obama” less than compelling. The media is lining up candidates that Democrats can live with (just like they did McCain in 08). Obama didn’t bring home the troops, still gives Israel carte blanche, has increased domestic surveillance a la Patriot Act Big Government invasion of privacy, and the list goes on. I really see no difference when we have Newt and Mitt with their health care baggage and Obama. Newt will have no problem with more government in the name of “security”. His views on the court are frightening. I won’t vote, as it stands, for Mitt. He is a tad too liberal for my tastes and I do not believe he will shrink government. So my question is what piece of the pie will we get for our support?
Judging by the personal attacks against Ron Paul’s supporters, I fear we will get nothing. I would rather see four more years of Obama and hope for a real reactionary movement to get the pendulum back to right rather than vote for our supposedly “electable” Republicans. I am not the only one who feels this way.
Ron Paul is actually more electable in the general election than any other candidate. Page 5

Regarding foreign policy most people are reacting to the talking heads and not doing their own research. Ron Paul would most likely keep us safer, the others will break the bank.
How can they not vote for a man who had this type of insight
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KONpt9a6HrI&feature=related
Re: Murray…please, please do not think that way. I have heard other Ron Paul supporters say similar remarks. That they just won’t vote! My reply is: So..if you can’t have YOUR WAY…you will pick up your marbles and go home??? No, no, no…please don’t think that way. If Obama wins this election…there will be no more elections…you can take THAT TO THE BANK! The TIME is now…2012 will be the fate of this country…no question about it.
America will not survive; Ron Paul supporters must understand this. In fact, All Americans need to come to terms with this.
Guess I have been on here long enough…Goodnight and GOD BLESS AMERICA!
I can just see the debate between Ron Paul and Obama. So tell me, Congressman Paul, do you want to legalize the use of Heroin and Meth by our citizens? I rest my case.
All we have had is the media/press bringing up allegations on each Republican frontrunner but Romney.
Cain is very qualified to be President of the USA, a lot more qualified than the man who won in 2008.
The American people are fed up with the lack of truth/facts coming from the press/media who just wants to manipulate the vote like they did in 2008 and before.
The American people have wised up to it. There is a great article over at the American Thinker on Polls poisoning the well of citizenship and the vote.
“Voting your conscience” is the very meaning of voting: standing up and being counted according to your own principles. It is the practical mechanism whereby Washington’s “enlightened public opinion” protects and sustains the republic. That is to say, it is virtue made manifest in the democratic process. It is the definitive act of moral citizenship.
Spread the word…
Spread the truth…
Spread the facts…
In 2012 we are going to hear the American peoples’ voice loud and clear.
We the people are fed up with the PC~BS lies, period.
Marco Rubio, if you’re reading this, if this somehow manages to fall on your desk, PLEASE… please reconsider a run for the presidency. We need you, man.
He voted for NDAA. Are you okay with it? Because I am not ok with losing my constitutional rights. Remember, per govt documents we are probable terrorists.
When it comes down to it, The Republican leadership is hoping for another 4 years of Obama. Think about it, think really hard. The economy doesn’t affect the big income boys and gals on either side of the aisle. They thrive on power, control and influence. Its an intoxicating brew which makes them and their heirs “fixed” for life.
If Obama is re-elected, things will get worse not better for the average American. People will be ready for new leadership with a promise of better economic times. The illegal immigration issue will have been sufficiently solved( for political purposes) and Senator Rubio will be ready to make his grand appearance.
Its a no lose eight years minimum for the Republicans. Rubio will barely be 50 when he leaves office. The country will have had the best President since Ronald Reagan. Even the Democrats ( undercover) will have to admit that times are better in 2020 than they were in 2011.
You don’t agree……..Watch what happens….
The best candidate that we can nominate to defeat Obama lives in Florida and his name is JEB BUSH! He is a conservative with an excellent record as governor of Florida and the only candidate of presidential stauture that can recover the 40% Hispanic vote that supported Ronald Reagan and George W.Bush.
If you think this country will vote for another Bush than you need to lower your dosage of medicinal marijuana.
I think the point that everyone keeps missing is that the primary election is just a step towards the general election.
We all have our tea party favorites (mine is Michelle Bachman), who are ideologically on the same page we are. But if we get short-sighted and elect a nominee who is not palatable to the center right and center left, we may win our ideological battle and lose the war. With so many center/moderate voters in the middle looking for an Obama alternative, we could very easily snatch defeat from the jaws of victory if we do not give them a candidate that they can rally behind – and they are the majority of voters!
I wanted Perry in the race – but his performance as a candidate has been absolutely pathetic! Santorum just cannot get traction – he’s right on the issues, but he just doesn’t come off well. Ron Paul is too naive – his foreign policy ideas are dangerously wimpish in an age of nuclear weapons and easy intercontinental reach (even by Osama Bin Laden, if you’ll recall). Paul’s idea that if we just crawl into a hole in the sand then everyone will like us is just too ignorant of the reality that not everyone thinks like we do. I like Newt, but I doubt he can pull from the political center.
But every time I consider the field of candidates, I remember how many people from the center of the political spectrum, and even some die-hard democrats, have come asking me about Romney because they are not happy with Obama. Think real carefully about that! Take the emotion out of it and think about it.
If we cannot offer a general election candidate that will pull the center and not drive them back to Obama, we lose – hello!
THE PRIMARY ELECTION IS NOT ABOUT US ON THE FAR RIGHT – IT’S ABOUT SELECTING A CANDIDATE THAT WILL BE PREFERABLE TO THE MAJORITY OF VOTERS IN THE GENERAL ELECTION!!!!!!!
If we all get stuck on who most closely mirrors our far right ideals (I call myself a pragmatic libertarian because the establishment GOP is too moderate), we will lose and Obama will get four more years, virtually unfettered as he accelerates the erosion of the Constitution. Are you really a patriot? Are you patriotic enough to put our country before yourself? Or are you so stuck on getting a candidate as far right as you (and I)are – yeah, that’ll show ‘em, right?
We of the Tea Party movement have made progress in the Congress. We need to keep the heat on, no matter what. If we do that, I believe that Romney will behave – he’s certainly not as invested in the Washington game as Boehner (speaker of the house) is and we’ve seen Boehner mostly toeing the line pretty nicely in response to the pressure we’ve put on him – we can do the same with Romney – but only if we don’t give Obama another victory.
Remember that only registered Republicans will be voting in the primary election – and we are just a fraction of who can vote in the general election! Our job is to select a nominee that can win – it’s not to pick who is most like we are!
Look who does best against Obama – page 5
http://maristpoll.marist.edu/wp-content/misc/IApolls/IA111127/Republican%20Primary%202012/Complete%20December%204,%202011%20Iowa%20NBC%20News-Marist%20Poll%20Release.pdf
Polls at this stage are not, IMHO, all that reliable, especially a single poll which can be self-serving for one’s argument – a point even more relevant since the general election campaign has not begun in earnest. I prefer the Real Clear Politics compilation and averages, which are a much better directional indicator.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/president_obama_vs_republican_candidates.html
It’s interesting to note that Obama only has a 2.5% lead on Romney (again, before the general campaign cycle) – well within the typical margin of error. Romney’s closest competitor vs Obama is Paul, against whom Obama has a 7.7% lead. Obama has Gingrich by 8.9%, which is eerily close to his 8.6% lead on Huntsman. Based on these poll averages, Perry, Bachman, and Santorum are distractions more than serious competitors (again, my personal preference is Bachman, followed by Santorum).
My point about the importance of the center and the center’s displeasure with Obama is underscored by the Obama vs. Republican (generic) poll average which gives the GOP a .5% lead over Obama. Note that most people are not political and will not pay much attention to the election until a GOP candidate is confirmed and the general election cycle begins. At that point, the GOP voting block will consolidate behind the nominee and the spotlight will be on them and Obama directly – which will change the game significantly – more people will begin to form opinions and gravitate towards a candidate at that time.
EXCELLENT POST, Mike…We MUST win and do it together!
Javier,
Like so many others I believe the current choice of those
running for the Republican nomination for President are all
flawed in ways that will put Obama back in office in 2012.
This possibility is totally unacceptable. I don’t know how
to do it but I now think the only person at this point is to
either get Rep. Allen West to run or draught him at the
convention.
He is intelligent, conservative and does not suffer fools
readily. He has national recognition already, is quite
knowledgeable, speaks well and can hold his own in a debate.
With the possible die hard Paul followers I think he would
be acceptable to both conservative, independent and a large
enough of the minority vote to beat Obama in 2012.
Think again. West voted for the NDAA and also the wonderful Super committee.

That is one horrendous “wrong” with our election process today – “what’s in it for me” IF I give you my vote???? Don’t you people get it??? It isn’t about a certain candidate and what they will do for a certain voter, it is about OUR COUNTRY and the future of America for our children and grandchildren! Why are we not looking at this election for the GOOD of the whole country, freedom and liberty? IF we let this kind of thinking control our election of a real conservative who loves the Constitution and the Bill of Rights (remember those??)and the country and just blindly re-elect BO, it is over! This country’s very existence as we know it, is over!! There IS no perfect candidate, period, but, there must be a true – conservative American somewhere in the USA and we had better find that person to lead us out of this abyss we are sinking further into with no good end in site.
The future of this country depends on this election and I believe it is the most important election of my lifetime (63) – we cannot simply take the easy way out and re-elect BO who is solely intent on destroying our freedom forever.
An orange juice can would be a better choice, we are either intent on saving our country or we get what we deserve.
Stand up, FIGHT for our country, who have we become? The time is now to rally around a good candidate whether it is our favorite or not – we can continue bickering and nit-picking but this is just far too serious to just ‘go along to get along.’
And we have NINE months to win this election, and we CAN, leave the ego out of this, the country is more important!
Can we draft Generals Stanley McCrystal or Tommy Franks?
TOO BAD NO ONE CAMW CLOSE TO THIS KIND OF VETTING OF THE GREAT PRETENDER!
Having said that we must remember ALL HUMANS ARE FLAWED! Find one who is not and I believe they would not want to be in politics in any way!
Our driving motivation in this election is and must be THE DEFEAT OF THE GREAT PRETENDER AKA OBAMA!
Everyone by now has read or eard his often repeated rants against our republics history and our way of life. He is determined to CHANGE it for all time. He HOPES to embroil us in a global world order where his kind of elite control the masses (that would be us).
It dows not matter who gets the Repulican nomination. We must put aside all divisions and stand united against OBAMA BEFORE HE GETS 4 MORE YEARS TO DRIVE US DOWN THE ROAD TO DESTRUCTION OF OUR DEMOCRACY! If we fail to stand united we will be picked off one group after another.
Has anyone considered what the Copnstitution says about elections ? The 2 Party Rule is not in it. The only time you see Primary it is in the same sentence linked to Citizen’s right to vote in Any Primary.Open Primaries is the Law Of The Land.
Oh,I almost forgot the news, the GOP is over.None of these GOP Candidates can beat Obama. Put a Congress of Non Politicians in who will not compromise.
It is a little disappointing to read Republicans trying to prove that the saying of; “Now I know why some animals eat their young”, is actually the truth. We all know that candidates, vying for a political office, must use tactics and rhetoric that is not complimentary to their opponents, but there comes a time when some of that verbal venom becomes self-defeating.
On our website: “Chuck on the Right Side” we have an editorial posted that explains the Ronald Reagan “80% Solution”. I think all active Republican voters should read it and act accordingly.
Just Google up “Chuck on the Right Side”
Chuck Lehmann
A classic example of the “dumbing down of America” is the last sentence in the article.
Governor Perry, has been an excellent Governor. His pension comes from his military service, (or don’t you believe our veterans should get pensions?). He has been strongly Conservative and brought many jobs to Texas and kept our state economy growing. He is extremely strong on border enforcement (Sheriff Joe Arpaio endorsed him). The in-state tuition was passed by the legislature by a veto-proof majority, and we in Texas decided that it was better to educate the illegals (until the border can be secured by the Feds) so that they would not be a burden on our state. There are those who are from Texas that hate Perry and I can tell you they are not Conservatives. Austin, the capital of Texas is a little blue Berkeley, full of the most lefty liberals you will find. When you read their words remember that they are most likely not even Republicans, let alone Conservatives. These are the so-called Texans that say Perry is not a good Governor. Perry has been re-elected as Governor twice. Please give Governor Perry your consideration, he will cut spending, lower taxes and create jobs.
You mention ancient “…Ron Paul’s newsletters and the slurs he published against blacks, Jews and gays….”, even though there’s no proof he wrote it himself, or approved it. So where’s the criticism of Allen “Turncoat” West’s August vote to extend the deficit in the Obama/Boehner deal? “West, R-Plantation, voted in favor of the August deal, which gave Obama the power to seek two automatic debt increases in addition to the one Congress approved just hours before a potential default.” http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/state/fighting-debt-limit-hike-futile-conservatives-concede-2064186.html
Republicans are wimps and don’t care about our country either.
“With a brokered convention looking increasingly possible, is it too late to draft an Allen West, Paul Ryan, or Marco Rubio? What do you think?”
Yikes, Javier, let’s consider this scenario:
Mitt Romney, President: A man of enormous self-made wealth with financial acumen and a sophisticated knowledge of the bond market/currency fluctuations
Marco Rubio, Senator: Active member of the Committees on Foreign Relations, Intelligence, and Small Business/Entrepreneurship
Paul Ryan, House Budget Committee Chairman
What’s not to like?
The Sky Is Falling. We are screwed.
I’ve got a news flash, the one thing practically anyone else on this planet has going for them is they are not the architect of the current disaster of incompetence and intentioned destruction wrought upon us since Jan ’09.
I well remember how reckless and dangerous a choice “the people” read rubes, made in the primary season of ’80. How this cowboy/actor would get his clocked cleaned by Carter. Ford was so much more the safer bet. Well the is no doubt we have no such cowboy riding to save us this go round but, whom ever wins the chance will be facing a truly loathed creature in the general. I’d ball park that alone is worth 10 points. And… People didn’t have the visceral dislike and distrust of Carter that they harbor for the current occupant of the W.H.. It was felt that no matter how bumbling and incompetent Jimmy was, he was not out to destroy the nature of the Republic. Most know that is not applicable in the case of our current W.H. occupant.
This is a war for our future. We need to understand that and go straight for the jugular. This ain’t kickball there are no rules, and we can’t afford anyone not willing to fight.
And Screw the GOP fat cat primary rigging slugs who still think they run “the party”. Your rude awakening has been ordered and will be delivered soon.
Good Post! Right on. This election will be the future of this Republic…and let us not forget it! Join together and removed the occupant of the White Hut!
You have got to be kidding. Romney will be the candidate. Period.
If it is Bachman, Perry or Santorum my vote will be for Santorum. As far adding new candidates, no.
Santorum is a RINO rated lousy rated as bad on illegal immigration as Rick Perry, almost as bad as Ron Paul.
I’ve been strongly in Allen West’s corner since I first saw him in late 2010. Until a candidate emerges from the convention it is not too late. I cannot back any of the present candidates in good faith, but will vote for WHOEVER is the candidate just to oust the current resident in the WH. We need a Statesman with honor, integrity, knowledge and courage, not a politician.
Rather than either Rubio or Ryan, I would like to see Allen West paired on a ticket with Jim DeMint.

Hey y’all, do you prefer to indulge in your parochial fantasies or do you prefer the GOP to win back the White House (i.e. win the general election)?
IRAN
The Marxist media tells us Iran is a problem. (remember they lied when they told us Iraq had weapons of mass destruction) They tell us the (Marxist/Islamic) United Nations has a solution. They tell us people like Ron Paul are crazy not to help the (Marxist/Islamic) United Nations accomplish their (pro-Islamic, anti-Christ, anti-Israel) agenda. They are effectively telling us it’s crazy not to help the United Nations make anti-Christ/anti-Israel Islam/Sharia law stronger via. “democracy”.

Straight from our Department of Homeland Security:
**** ”The fact is that Islam and secular democracy are fully compatible – in fact, they can make each other stronger.” (THEIR GLOBAL GOAL—-Do YOU want a STRONGER anti-Christ Islamic “democracy”/Sharia law?????????????????????????????????)
AMERICA IS HEADED FOR A TRAIN WRECK. Ron Paul is the ONLY one trying to stop it!
If we want to see the GOP Presidential candidate win in 2012 he will need to know how to revive our economy. To accomplish this he will first have to know how an economy works. You can check out the link below to see a short 3 minute Power Point that shows very simply how an economy works. The economic principles that governed our economy in the old “trade surplus” days shown in this Power Point would apply also in today’s global economy IF we had Balanced Trade.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBNcB7c6hOs
Also our Presidential candidate needs to know that all of their new policy ideas for reviving our economy will not be adequate to bring the “orders” back to the manufacturers of America, thus we won’t see any significant improvement in our “jobs” situation. The best way to bring the “orders” back to U.S. manufacturers is explained on the website

Orly,
Please feel free to use this as you see fit. I have pasted it to this email and included as an attachment. My plan is to get this to as many sites and persons as possible who would have an interest, to include the attorney General in Virginia but wanted you to have it first.

Open Letter to the Honorable John G. Roberts Jr.
Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court
Sir, 7 Feb. 2012
It has now been over three years since I last wrote you begging for the good of the Country the Court take on the Presidential Eligibility issue which continues to cause division and angry discourse among the Citizens. The opportunity has been before you multiple times and still you deny the American people a hearing on the Merits. Justice Thomas in a House subcommittee last year appears to have confirmed that the Court is intentionally “evading” this issue which indeed seems to be the case. If this is the case to what good end do you see this avoidance? I do not desire to cast aspersions but I am perplexed at the workings of the court seeming to hear and decide cases which, in the weight of importance, pale in comparison. I shake my head in disbelief. Rest assured I would not raise such questions as these and those I am about to if I had not heard Justice Thomas indicate you had taken a course of evasion.
I know as an experienced Physician an early diagnosis and treatment improves outcomes. Do you not think the same principle applies to the healing of our Nation? We are now headed rapidly into another general election with the question of the Framers intent relevant to Mr. Obama regarding the “Natural Born Citizen” clause hanging over us. To add significant weight to the situation we now have several Republican candidates for President being vetted with a parent born overseas.
We are divided on the issue and in need of resolution. I am now hearing my fellow Citizens who support Mr. Obama begin to cry foul that those on the Right who challenge him on the eligibility issue “hunker down in silence” when it comes to the “Darlings of the Grand Ole Republican party”. Take for instance Bobby Jindal and Marco Rubio who some have touted as excellent choices for Vice President or perhaps President in the future. I am convinced that NEITHER Mr. Rubio or Mr. Jindal meets the requirements under the definition of a Natural Born Citizen. I am NOT saying that either of them would NOT be a good President. This is NOT about political views as it is NOT with Mr. Obama. This is NOT about race as Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum whose fathers are foreign born are also not immune. I am saying that the “cult of personality” or the partisan desire for power does not trump the rule of law for if it does we are NOT a Nation of laws but rather of men.
Those who accuse the Right of hypocrisy are absolutely justified to do so! They were right in 2008 when they questioned the eligibility of Senator John McCain only to have their concerns ignored and then “fixed” by Senate resolution 511 (interestingly supported by Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama himself ) declaring McCain eligible. Is this how our system is intended to work? Issues of Constitutional import get “fixed” by Congressional Resolution? I think not. While Rome is burning it appears the system of “Good Ole Boy” and to not leave out the ladies “Good Ole Girl” cronyism has no problem reaching across the aisle when it comes to helping themselves. No wonder John McCain dared not broach the Obama eligibility issue as he was already beholding to Mr. Obama. No wonder the “Established Republicans” sit on their hands mute like guilty children paying penitence and do NOTHING but to ignore pleas from their own constituents to support the Constitution. Shame on all of them; they are a National disgrace. How can they wonder why the public holds them in such low esteem? But I digress.
I am certain the court must be aware of the recent ballot challenge in Georgia in which the defendant Mr. Obama chose willfully to ignore the Court and not produce any documentation to support his claim that he is eligible to be on the ballot. It is obvious that the decision by Judge Malihi in favor of the defendant is fatally flawed as the defendant produced no documents, no sworn testimony and in fact the defendant produced absolutely nothing in defiance of a court order even though the burden of proof according to Georgia law resided with the defendant in the affirmative. This decision and Secretary of State Brian Kemps decision to uphold the ruling no doubt are going to appeal and there are other cases pending. Does the court not think it wise to settle this issue urgently? Certainly the Court recognizes that the preservation of the integrity of the free election process we are approaching hangs in the balance. To this effect there are pressing questions that deserve immediate answers.
· Is it your intent to continue “evading”, as Justice Thomas has implied, and deny application to hear this case leaving us divided with no clear answers going forward into the general election and beyond?
· If you do plan to hear this before the general election exactly when do you intend to do so?
· What if Mr. Obama indeed fails the eligibility test? Is it not reasoned the longer you wait the less chance the Democratic Party would have in fielding and vetting a qualified candidate? Would a delay into late spring or summer tip the balance and even decide the election for the Republicans? Can you imagine the outrage and rightful indignation of the Democrats should this occur? What about the Republican candidates? Permit me to suggest that it may be wise and prudent to settle this issue so that the Parties and the States can verify the Candidates on both sides meet the eligibility requirements without anymore delay.
· Do you not consider this as an important issue? Are you content to let the Constitution die a slow death by a thousand small cuts? Have you rendered yourselves irrelevant other than to determine the pace at which we dispose of it?
· Do we still have a Constitutional Republic or is it an illusion? If it is lost do you not have a moral and ethical duty to inform the Soldiers who are dying in an effort to defend it ? The questions can go on and on ad infinitum.
In spite of the questions, I am not willing to accept that all we have fought for is gone. This for me is to think the unthinkable! So, perhaps the truth of why you are evading the issue is more straightforward. Might I be so bold as to state the obvious: your actions suggest that you are evading hearing this issue because you ALREADY KNOW THE ANSWER and you are afraid of the social and political consequences of that decision. This has all the appearances that through the deliberate actions of some and the inaction of others, we have created in essence a colossal mess; a constitutional crisis of immense proportion that must be addressed before we have yet another botched election process.
I ask the court to forgive my lack of decorum if my letter is perceived as deficient for I am certain it is but I trust that you will accept that my intentions are honorable and I mean no disrespect to the Court; but I cannot hide my own frustration and fears and I wish to convey a sense of urgency and a desire to see that our Constitution is upheld. My argument to the Court is simple; the time to settle this case is NOW. It goes without saying that any officers of the court that have a vested interest in this case should recluse themselves; in particular those whose appointments would become null and void should Mr. Obama be proven to NOT be eligible and thus lack the legal authority to appoint them. The American People are watching. The World is watching. We the People deserve and demand answers.
This issue is not going away. A YouGov poll in January of 2012 shows a full 41% of Americans doubt the Obama birth narrative in spite of his releasing a “long form birth certificate”. What question before the court this very moment is more important than the determination the person holding the Office of President of the United States has the LEGAL AUTHORITY to hold that office? Certainly not Health Care for if Mr. Obama did not have the legal authority to sign it in the first place the law is VOID and your deliberations on the merits are worthless. In Minor V. Happersett did the court not determine the citizenship status of Virginia Minor before moving forward and that she being born of parents who themselves are US citizens and being born in the United Sates was a “Natural Born Citizen”? Given the myriad questions surrounding Mr. Obama and the doubts of the citizens Mr. Obama was even born here, should you not first establish as FACT that he has the authority to sign the Health Care Bill? What have you seen as tangible evidence that he does? A Birth Certificate on the Web or what he presented to the Georgia Court…absolutely NOTHING? Millions of people see the Emperor has no clothes; I trust you would not wish to put the court in such a humiliating position as the Emperor.
What I saw occur in Georgia this past few weeks is absolutely frightening and I myself am afraid. You must understand the concerns among the Citizens that we no longer have the rule of law are not completely unfounded. Who among us can willfully disregard a court order, not pay a penalty and then prevail in a Court of Law? If allowed to stand what precedent does this set? Is he really above the law? I saw Mr. Obama at the State of the Union address of 27 Jan. 2010 show a flagrant contempt for the Judiciary. What makes you so confident that he would even abide by your decision should you find him not eligible and willingly step down? I have seen nothing to suggest he would. I hope I am wrong.
Our Constitution is precious. To me the words written on that parchment are more than just the ramblings of old men whose ideas have run their course. The words are a sacred promise, purchased with the precious blood and treasure of those who have come before, between the Government and the Citizens that we will NOT HAVE OUR GOD GIVEN RIGHTS INFRINGED UPON OR TAKEN FROM US EVER AGAIN. This promise, the covenant crafted from the laws of God and Nature requires for its survival an independent Judiciary, committed to the elucidation of truth, armed by the conviction of the human spirit humbled before our Creator, unafraid and undaunted to stand on the side of Justice regardless of the price. If the Supreme Court “evades” our concerns who are we the citizens to look to for relief? The nature of man is corruptible and MUST be restrained by the rule of law. Our right to have a President that respects the law, does not hold himself above it , fulfills the Constitutional requirements to hold the office and who defends the Constitution it is implicit. As I did in January of 2009, I again plead with you to settle this issue of concern for the challenges we face as a Nation are many, the time is short and we must not fail.
Respectfully Submitted,
Dr. David Earl-Graef USAFR MC

I dont want to leave a long post. only trying to make a point. i have meen a repub for my whole life. i am 76 years old. my problem is seeing the office of president being bought, by repubs and dems. the whole political system is broken. no one can run for office without being rich. you end up with a status quo government. probably we need to go thru the phonebook and just pick out names. the govt officers will do anything to protect their jobs. what is good for the people does not even enter into it. we are in a fast track downhill and no one seems to care. more jobs now than a month ago? where are they. i have many friends out of work and i dont see an improvment. i dont see a lot of change no matter who the pres is if we dont change congress. all the candidates lie to get elected. when i was raised if you lied like that you wouldnt get elected for a dog catcher. please guys, lets make a full change.
