The General Election will be about JOBS. Perry’s successful record on this issue will provide a sharp contrast to Obama’s failures. It’s one issue that affects everyone. If we really want to defeat Obama, we need to nominate Rick Perry!
Perhaps you could help us understand specifically what Rick Perry, in his role of Texas governor, actually did to create jobs – other than ride on the shirt tails of a conservative legislature, that is.
No shirtails for him to ride on but he created shirtail for others to ride on. Perry didn’t have a conservative legislature when he was elected. He helped push conservative agendas, and get more conservatives/republicans elected. TX leg is now after TPM of 2010 majority republican. He has fought DC on regulations, he cut taxes, cut the budget for the first time in TX history since WW2. Pushed back against the EPA. He has actively gone to other countries and states and promoted TX to brings companies to TX so that there are jobs created. TX got an upgrade in their S&P rating while US got a downgrade under Obama. He pushed and got tort reform and loser pays laws passed. No drivers license for illegals, started a Ranger Recon Team to fight illegal immigration plus purchased drones for border use. Defunded Planned Parenthood. He did not spend the rainy day fund when other states spent theirs. Perry didn’t touch it and it has 7 billion in reserve. All this helps make TX very attractive to do business in. Low taxes, no state income tax and tort reform goes a long way in making TX the place to move to for people and businesses. TX is the 13th largest economy in the world and one of the largest exporters too. Pretty impressive accomplishments in 11 years.
He’s also a “double dipper”, taking a retirement pension that the TAXPAYERS pay for while also taking his salary as governor. Don’t you guys just hate that!!
Most of the jobs in Texas are low pay jobs with crappy benefits. Texas also has the worst Worker’s Compensation plan in the country.
No they are not low paying jobs. As evidence by this recent report.
TX JOB ADDITIONS (OR LOSSES) BY INDUSTRY SECTOR
Mining and Logging (includes oil and gas related jobs): 43,300
Construction: 17,500
Manufacturing: 18,000
Trade, Transportation, and Utilities: 53,900
Information: -7,300
Financial Activities: 12,700
Professional and Business Services: 59,000
Education and Health Services: 41,300
Leisure and Hospitality: 35,600
Other Services: 12,200
Government: -54,600
So all these jobs are low paying? I don’t think so. And as for workmens comp do you mean tort reform and loser pays laws he got passed so people can’t game the system? I have a friend who works for the state in workers comp division. Yes the amount of claims have gone down but they still have claims that are legit come through their office. Whereas before they had some pretty frivolous claims come through the office. And since you are so concerned about taxpayer money maybe you want to be concerned about what all those frivoulous and false claims cost the taxpayer, businesses etc.
And he paid into his pension and still pays 6.5% of his pay into it. Why shouldn’t you be able to collect the money you earn and pay into. Also part of his pension is from his military days. So because he is governor he should just say no I don’t want to collect the monies from my military and civilian careers?
If this was a normal working person doing this you’d be screaming!!
How come it’s OK for the politicians but not OK for normal everyday working Americans whose “Cadillac” benefits you all want to destroy but it’s OK for Mr. Perry?
The taxpayers pay for it, don’t they?
Hey Rich, lets get straight to the point. Are you a Ron Paul supporter?
No, I am not. Ron Paul is nuts and dangerous.
I am an independent progressive. I can see what is good and bad on BOTH sides and do not adhere strictly to a conservative or liberal/progressive agenda.
In short, I am socially liberal and fiscally conservative.
Governor Romney took $1 a year salary in Mass, volunteered in emergency wards in hospitals, on dump trucks as hands on governor. Perry wants part time representatives – hey, that means instead of 151 days working a year for us, it would be 75 days a year — this is insane!
Yes, JOBS! Governor Romney having 25 years experience in private sector as an entrepreneur is better qualification than Governor of a state with no state tax, receiving defectors from California.
Romney is hard working gifted expert and emerged as a turn around expert through his personal abilities and successes. As a former business owner myself, it is imperative that a president understands business creation through hands-on experience. Perry does not have this record.
Governor Romney is impressive personally too … when an employees daughter was missing in New York City, he closed down his Boston office and everyone went to NYC to personally look for this girl with a successful outcome.
If anyone notices Romney is running to “save America for our kids and grand kids,” not to feed his ego. He doesn’t have to run for office to enrich himself monetarily (his wife has MS and breast cancer) but he understands the seriousness of where our country stands … on the cliff of ruination! He’s a dedicated family man and married to his childhood sweetheart … a very good role model for our country.
After he left as governor of Mass in 2006, he spent years working for freedom loving candidates to support the 2010 elections – where the GOP received the biggest landslide in 75 years!
Romney does not brag (like the other less qualified candidates), he just puts his nose to the grindstone and works for freedom under platform “Believe in America!”
Our country is at the precipice of sinking or swimming … we’ve had one year of debate after debate … the liberals will create uncertainty and chaos in our primaries … we have to all stand tall and jump on the strongest candidate. At this time it’s Governor Romney … I was open for Perry and Newt but both have proven issues that will turn out to be large negatives for the GOP.
Hopefully we’ll have the best businessman president, a refreshing change in viewpoint from seasoned politicians — who love to debate for years & years without results! Time to break this pattern!
I completely agree with you, Angela. Rick Perry is the best candidate for creating Jobs, and getting America back to work. Go Rick Perry!!!
Yes, there is time and I hope that Floridians will take a second look at Gov. Perry.
Here’s why Gov. Perry gets my vote:
Rick Perry is the complete conservative package for what ails the country — He will cut regulations, cut litigation, cut taxes, shrink government, support life and 2nd and 10th Amendments, seal the border, support our military and stand with our allies.
And as a former USAF veteran, he appreciates and supports our military and their families. None of the other candidates volunteered for service.
I don’t trust Romney nor Gingrich to reduce the size of government, repeal ALL of ObamaCare or to govern as a conservative. Perry has demonstrated in Texas that he’s a true conservative and he’s got a real record of job creation, tort reform and supports the Constitutional principle of ‘states’ rights’ from federal intrusion.
And he’s very likeable, hard working and passionately loves America!
Absolutely not true on the military service front. Ron Paul served as well (USAF).
More impressive is the fact that Ron Paul receives more campaign contributions from our active duty military personnel than ALL of the other candidates COMBINED!
Yes, Ron Paul did serve 2 years of service in the Air Force as a Flight Surgeon, where he remained stateside and worked as an OB/GYN, delivering the babies of servicemen. He then served 3 more years in the Air National Guard. And Rick Perry served as a pilot for 5 years and if he had gotten in earlier, he would have served in Vietnam but by 1972 when he graduated from A&M, it was fairly late in the war. That data that you cite about the military contributions is not very recent and he has been running for President for quite a few years now. Sadly, I really want to like the guy, but he seems just too loose of a cannon and he also said Reagan was too old, back in 1987–I’ve seen it on YouTube–and Ron Paul is now older than Reagan was at that time. I see a nutty old man when I see him speak. I look forward to what Rand can accomplish however.
Sorry not convinced. A governor who supports college education for illegals OVER Americans who are so highly unemployed, is not conservative. This says a lot to me!
Perry going after Romney by distorting facts was ugly and probably to take attention away from his cardisil mandates.
We have the best in Romney! He’s the most “out of Washington DC” candidate and 4 years as governor of blue state is a positive.
You say you don’t trust Romney which means you are believing ehe spin from left and right. Romney turned down illegal college tuition in Mass, fought for pro life issues, turned down cap & trade … it’s all on the record!
As a successful businessman Romney will view debt and jobs with a refreshing and confident resolution basis.
Unfortunately for Perry, he lacks oratory skills that will go against him big time! Romney is a gifted orator and won most of the debates …
I’ve been a Rick Perry follower since the beginning. He’s the only conservative among the lot, and he has experience in a large, surging state. The jobs numbers are up among mid-level jobs, good paying jobs for Americans. No scandal in his past, either.
Maybe I am missing something … how does a Governor who supports illegal tuition, hasn’t closed border and mandates cardisil shots as a conservative? Maybe just because Rush Limbaugh says so? But, Rush thinks Newt is a conservative too … wrong on both cases!
Sorry folks, I’m just not seeing it.
Early on, I really wanted Rick Perry to get into the race – hey, a governor who wears a LaRue Tactical shirt on a major national TV interview has got to “get it”, right?
Unfortunately, I have be EXCEEDINGLY disappointed watching him in the debates. I often found myself wondering if he were really an android with a wiring malfunction. If Bush had problems with a dummy/robot image (not me, I liked him), Perry would get that on steroids!
And seeing Perry shooting from the hip and loose with the facts completely lost me.
Net/net is that in order to beat Obama, we have to have a GOP candidate who can pull from the middle and even from the left. Perry just isn’t the one.
I’ve since learned, though it’s not mentioned much, that Rick Perry had back surgery mere weeks before his initial debate performances. If you’ve never had surgery, you would not know that anesthesia makes you CRAZY for about two months afterwards. The doctors always tell you to NEVER make any big decisions or sign any contracts in that period. So, give Perry a little slack on those early debates. I think it was the effects of his surgery.
Dream on!! What a cop out.
The rule after anesthesia is 24-48 hours, not several months.
Give me a break. The man is just not fast on his feet and that is an important aptitude for a President.
You’re right I don’t think it was the anesthesia either. But I do think he was in a lot of pain. It does take months to recover from back surgery. I know from personal experience. If you think back to the debates he was great in the first hour but remarks were made about how he needed coffee or something to keep him up for the second hour. I think he was in so much pain from standing still that he kind of zoned out from the pain. I at least had a job where I could sit when needed, get up move around and stretch when I had to. I think I would have been on the floor crying in agony if I had to stand on a hard floor without moving much for an hour let alone 2+ hours.
This is absurd rationale. How do you explain his continued gaffs? Sounds very liberal to make excuses. How do you reconcile his continued gaffs and mis-statements and unfounded accusations? Jobs in Texas is a great positive and I am not minimizing this, but, remember he was drawing from California a sinking ship … and Texas has no state taxes, another draw. So, it makes sense that jobs would be added, I just can’t give Perry all the credit!
From what I read, he’s a globalist too! Wasn’t he proposing joining with Mexico for insurance in one debate? Hardly a comment was made about this but of concern …
Have any of you folks ever studied economics?
Jobs are created in response to increased demand for goods and services. Politicians do not create job #1, ever. How is the demand for goods and services increased? It is increased by putting more money into the hands or wallets if you will, of the most people i.e. by paying American workers more and management/ownership less.
Concentrating wealth does not and will not ever increase the demand for goods and services.
Ditto to what was said above. Perry only has one problem and that’s Fox News. They want Romney. Roger Ailes meets with Chris Christie and 2 days later he comes out for Romney!! Ann (sell-out) Coulter does the same thing on FNC. Dick Morris lists his “clients” and guess who is not on the list? Guess who he never mentions? I would bet every tooth in my head, plus $10,000 that if FNC gave Perry equal time that was given to Newt Romney, he’d be killing the competition. Our country is a swimming pool of debt/corruption/regulations and it’s pouring, BO and his crowd are using a hose to overflow it…Newt Romney want to use a spoon to empty it…Perry will use a Texas sized bilge pump to drain it. My hope is that America wakes up and realizes that minus the orator skills, the closet person to conservative Reagan is Perry—we don’t need a 90 turn, we need a 180.
Amen to that. Perry has my vote in Florida
You just said it!! Faux News is not news. It is an arm of the republican party and not a true news source. It is all slanted and opinionated and is also a shill for big business and the wealthiest Americans, neither of which needs you or I to stand up for them, they’ve already bought our government which serves their needs pretty nicely, thank you.
As a Romney supporter, I have been swearing at Fox the entire year! After each debate they discussed every candidate BUT ROMNEY, even when he won. Fox has been very unfair to Romney. They may be supporting him now as they see his solid following, all media now want to follow a winner and have to support the best candidate NOW – the primary is ONLY 2 days away. How many times a day does Fox say “Anybody but Romney.”
All other candidates have major flaws … Romney is clean as a whistle and his governance in Mass was successful and proven to be conservative, as well as his conservative platform. Tax relief for middle class when we are close to socialism is brilliant. Flat tax is great but will take too long to implement, Romney will rebuild America first – which is what needs to be done first! Flat tax is basically a gimmick as it would take too long to implement.
My ditto was for the first two comments. I wonder if Mike knows that Perry had major back surgery just before he entered the race and was in a lot of pain and wearing a back brace making him rigid? I wonder if he saw the last three “debates”–the one with Frank Luntz, the Huckabee Forum with 3 AG’s or the last one on FNC? I’m thinking the answer is no. The Huckabee Forum is a fantastic learning tool—google it and watch—each candidate is given 11 solid minutes to answer questions put to them from three Attorneys General. It mostly cover States’ Rights, but does go into other areas, as well. Trust me, it is worth your time if you really care about our country. You will be surprised.
I recommend Huckabee debates with 3 AG’s too. It was barely reported but Ken Cucinelli stated the next day that Newts answered his negatives by avoiding question and adding MORE government programs that he would create. Yet the media failed to repeat.
Important to remember that America is a center right country.
When the dust has cleared, the lies have been proven, and real people are given the chance to see and decide for themselves, we’ll see RICK PERRY for POTUS.
Crazy like a fox … and dumb as an ox.
Or maybe there just isn’t anything worth reporting on Perry…
And considering that our form of government depends on building coalitions and consensus – a classic Obama failure – I find it puzzling that you condemn Romney for demonstrating his ability to do that…hmmm…
Romneys forte is getting things done, yes, in order to get things done we need to move ahead and that takes works with democrats … NOT going across the isle (Newt). But, bringing DEMS across the isle to the RIGHT side. Romney did this in Mass, among other things, raised education levels from last to first in math & english! Improved jobs at a time that unemployed was very low in our country in 2006.
Perry’s job growth has been result of failed federal government since 2007. Perry made a very poor entrance into these debates (despite back surgery) and a leader he has to lead, which means communicate! Sadly his skills are very lacking in this area and the UGLY press in America will create non-stop negativity towards Perry. This is reality!
GO PERRY 2012
Dig into CNN poll only 4% said Santorum could beat Obama, this is not impressive “Santorum who?” he has “NO”record of leadership
I was a relutant voter foe Perry after his remark in Fl.I was a rep. there.I like him more and more as he says send the jerks home. Now I’m a true believer.Unfortunately, It sounds like we get Mitt.I,will vote for him because it is about anyone but that jerk lazy whatever he is OBAMA!
Rick Perry is bar far the Republicans best chance to win the general election. Crazy? Hardly! Here’s why:
Perry connects with three groups that Mitt Romney is weakest:
(a) Blue Collar Democrats
(b) Hispanics
(c) Evangelicals
Mitt will have serious trouble with all three groups. Perry won’t.
Republicans who liked Bob Dole’s results in ’96 should vote for Romney.
Romney can’t win.
Romney was 38% and Huckabee around 9% before Iowa caucuses in 2008. Then Huckabee slammmed mormons and won. Where did that get us? McCain pushed in by NY Times and a poor choice.
If Iowa votes for Romney this time as a big evangelical state, this will prove that Americans understand that a gifted business fiscal conservative and proven leader is superior to religious discrimination which is immoral to start, against our Founders and Constitution.
Until the first several debates, I was very encouraged by the prospect of a Perry candidacy. Successful governor of a state that California businesses are fleeing to in droves, military service, strong supporter of the Second and Tenth Amendments.
No, the early primary debates aren’t vital. But Perry’s poor performance, for whatever reason, sowed enough doubt about his intellect to give pause to many of his supporters, and ammunition to his critics who would [did] brand him as dumber than W. His ardent but self-impaling stand on Texas benefits for illegal immigrants didn’t help him win many conservative friends.
I’m glad to see Perry finally hitting his stride – his notion of a part time Congress resonates with anyone who’s not a fan of what Mark Twin described as America’s “native criminal class.”
Bhe operative question remains this: is it too late to matter?
Iowa is close to irrelevant, not so much New Hampshire. The MSM and GOP establishment have dusted off the carriage for Romney’s coronation.
Perry has a tough row to hoe.
Since when did debating become a presidential role? Newt Gingrich was on the debating team in high school and Romney was trained as a Mormon missionary. Naturally, they know how to press points. But Article II of the Constitution makes no mention of debate as a presidential responsibility and, in fact, there is very little debate of the kind we see on television in government at all. Debate in Congress is merely the Senator or Congressman making a speech (often to TV cameras in an empty room.) Debates have only been a part of the presidential election process since 1976. Prior to that, the only debates were in the 1960 election. For almost two centuries the country got along without presidential debates and instead judged candidates on their record and ability to govern.
Perry is at 14% in the latest Iowa poll, Santorum is at 15%, but the media keep talking about Santorum’s surge, to keep we the people from realizing that Perry is making a comeback. Santorum neither has the money nor the infrastructure to win the nomination. It is time for Conservatives to come together against the establishment. Please reconsider voting for Governor Perry,he has been vetted, he has a strong record on jobs, will cut spending and secure the border. He is the strongest Conservative challenger to Romney and Obama.
I don’t know how many of you have thought about this but Odumbo is a worse debater without a teleprompter than Perry. If you don’t believe me watch this.
Odumbo 2:36 seconds without a teleprompter! Hysterical!
http://youtu.be/HVMhz0tSllo
Perry is an Idiot. Rick Santorum is the only viable conservative.
You’ve got it backwards, not to mention that Santorum is a lawyer.
Governor Perry is just the kind of president we need right now. When someone focuses on the vision of the Founding Fathers and what they intended our government structure to be, as Governor Perry does and writes about in his book ” Fed Up”, you can understand how he is going to lead us well into a stronger future and away from the damage the Obama administration and yes even earlier administrations have injected into our society and lives. It’s time for a change, a REAL change, and the best part about this is that the government structure Perry speaks of and espouses was given to us those Founding Fathers through a loving and blessing God, and it provides the most wonderful system of governing as a people there could ever possibly be on this earth.
I truly believe Rick Perry is now, in this very time of history, the one carrying that message to us once again, and I can think of no better time in our country’s history than NOW to get back to those very things that our country was built on and stands for!
Rick Perry has the strength, conviction, and solid record to turn America around
Only Rick Perry !!!!!…….. please note that NONE of the other candidates ……..
None of the other candidates are presently Governors.
None of the other candidates have to deal with a State Legislature.
None of the other candidates have to deal with the crap that comes down from Washington to their state.
None of the other candidates have to deal with a border that the Fed Gov/Obama will not secure.
None of the other candidates have had to deal with Obama’s nonsense for 3 years.
None of the other candidates have governed over the an economy so large, if it were a country, would be 13th in the world.
None of the other candidates have governed over 25 million people.
None of the other candidates have cut taxes, eliminated fraud in state government programs, reduced government spending, reduced regulations, got tort reform through legislation and created an atmosphere in a state that created more than a million jobs even during a recession.
None of the other candidates have overseen natural disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, drought and major fires.
None of the other candidates have been elected three times.
None of the other candidates have governed over a state with 41 counties each one larger than Rhode Island.
None of the other candidates have governed over a state that has 3 cities that are in the largest 10 in the United States.
None of the other candidates have governed over a land mass area larger than all of New England, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Illinois combined.
If Perry is still in the running by the time that Florida has its primary elections, he is getting my vote.
No, the jobs created in Texas are not “low paying.” Texas has a record of attracting corporations from other states because of its low tax rates. Yes, some jobs are lower end of the scale, but that’s always the case because service industry jobs follow the higher paying jobs. “Cronyism” is a term used by those who aren’t cronies (friends) with whoever they are slamming and is usually used against someone in power by those who aren’t, but want to be. No, the former senator and three Congressmen who have been running for president were not always “fighting against” the liberal agenda. Newt Gingrich and Rich Santorum are both big government men. It’s hard to say what Ron Paul has been doing during his many years in Congress other than playing the role of contrarian. Bachmann is no longer in the race but all she has ever really done is shoot off her mouth. As for Romney, the man made his millions as a hedge fund manager. He didn’t have to take a salary when he was governor of Mass because he had made millions on commissions from “private investments.” There’s nothing wrong with “double dipping.” Retired military personnel, in particular, do it every day, along with other government workers who reach retirement age and take another government job while drawing retirement based on previous employment. In Rick Perry’s case, he is the least wealthiest person in the race. All of the other candidates have made millions, often as in Gingrich’s case from their political influence. Perry made a little money when he sold some property he owned in a high dollar area at a profit.
Perry is definitely the one candidate who doesn’t have close ties to DC – or to Wall Street. Anyone who is in business or government has to have a relationship to the Federal government in some capacity, but it’s not the same as working inside the Beltway regardless of whether its as a Congressman, in the Federal government or as a lobbyist.
One thing Perry did as governor of Texas was to actually reduce the size of the state government rather than just talk about it. This past year when a budget shortfall that had been foreseen became reality, Perry and the legislature met it by cutting government instead of using reserve funds or borrowing more money to meet it.
Basically, here’s the deal – if any of the other candidates should actually be nominated and win the election, we’ll be getting “same old, same old.” With Perry, we (might) see actual fiscal responsibility in government.
Another thing about Perry is that, unlike Gingrich and Romney, he has no personal/political baggage that can be used against him in the national race. If you take a close look at all of the sniping against him, it was for minor issues and some of it was flat out false. He has a solid record as governor of Texas and, believe it or not, he takes a realistic approach to border security based on actually living in, being a native of, and governing a state that is actually on the border instead of on the Atlantic Seaboard in the middle of the country.
