We already have a President with no character who won for his cute comments last time because we did not consider character at that time.

Isn’t it interesting that more people trust newt than mitt? Rick Santorum is clearly the most trustworthy candidate here. And the reason Ron Paul was not listed is because he hasn’t won a state yet. These three have.

While I trust Rick more and his policies more, I don’t know if he can beat Obama, get his spirt up enough especially in comparison to Obamas funds, and don’t know if he can out debate him. I trust Newt less but im confident he can near Obama in debate (which id pay to see), could match out compete with his funds for the campaign, and I believe can best Obama in the elections. While I think Rick would be a more reliable president and could get things done, Newt has fire and backbone to get things done Is vote for either but I have to go with the one I think can survive and best Obama. Romney no way! He’s even eligible to be president (his father was born in Mexico), his cultic polytheistic beliefs require him to reject the self evident theistic truth of the Declaration of Independence which speaks of our Creator, singular, besides affirm a made up history of the us which has dark skingiven to a tribe of native Indians for their wickedness. He has something to hide like Obama in not wanting to Aggie his tax returns our documentation. He was for Romney care, the bail outs, NDAA, has flip flopped on many issues, signed a pro abortion pledge in 2002, and his sound bytes in these last debates were plagiarized from the other candidates. Romney is a moderate to liberal Republican ie a RINO. I wished Newt and Rick would close ask the mentioned departments like the IRS, the ftc, federal reserve, department if education etc.. That would bring Independents and would be sound. I also wish they’d take constitutional eligibility seriously as in the case that both Obama and Romney are not eligible to be president and their names should be taken of the ballots.

If Santorum is the better candidate (which I believe he is), then vote for him! Don’t be gullible to the statement that he isn’t electable. He is just as capable of beating Obama. Look at Rick’s character vs Newt’s–it’s far superior. Rick Santorum is a stronge, steady, and solid leader, which his track record proves, and Newt Gingrich is not, which his track record proves. Don’t buying into the idea that “Santorum is better but not electable, therefore vote for Gingrich.” Rick Santorum IS better and CAN win if the people that support him actually get behind him instead of letting the media and the pundits pick their candidate by telling them Rick isn’t electable. I can’t even count how many times I’ve heard people say “I like Santorum the best, but….” If you like him the best then vote for him and get behind him! That’s all it takes.

If at the end of the day you personally vet each candidate in your own mind and heart, then you support that person. Do you really need someone to do the responsible thinking for you? I don’t think that Newt is electable. I like Newt. He is a brilliant man! I would love to see him working as Secretary of State. But he can’t win. He is too polarizing. It would be similar to Democrats selecting Nancy Pelosi as their Presidential candidate. He is a confirmed “supply sider.” But there are other issues.
Mitt Romney might be slightly more electable than Gingrich. But I don’t think that he can defeat Barack Obama. He polls poorly with Hispanics. He will have difficulty capturing the necessary number of “blue collar” Democrats. Evangelicals don’t trust him. He would do well with high income Independents in the Northern suburbs. But that doesn’t equate to sufficient votes. Overall, I think he would notch “200 or so” electoral college votes in the general election. Not enough!
Santorum isn’t perfect. He has some issues with spending and earmarks. And, his staunch pro-life stance will alienate some Independent women. But, he will have a strong appeal to “blue collar” Democrats. Evangelicals are comfortable with him. The Unions might even be lukewarm to Santorum, due to his background and previous anti-right to work votes. He is not a fiscal conservative. Some of his ideas hint at “protectionism.” But this might not be all bad in states like Ohio, Michigan and his home state of Pennsylvania. Selecting Susana Martinez as his running mate would insure overwhelming Catholic support. Especially, if the church breaks tradition and endorses the ticket.
Why would you want someone who is polarizing to serve as head of the our national diplomacy department?
I live in PA and can tell you that Santorum will not win PA. When he continues to spout that he can win swing states like ours, it is a joke, for so many reasons, the least of which was endorsing Arlen. That being said, I will hold my nose and vote for a chewed-up wad of tobacco, a coke can, or anything, instead of Obama. But, please, my former Floridian neighbors, don’t be delusional about who is conservative and trustworthy.

Santorum is a RINO of the first degree, NOT a Regan Conservative, and despite his misleading clean looks and sweater-vest, he cannot be trusted to BE a Republican.
You elect your representatives because of a platform, a set of ideals, and expect them to follow through for you along those same values when proposing or voting on laws.
Santorum suffered the worst Senate defeat in history because of several things, but the main one was that he did NOT VOTE like a true Republican should have; and voted for more regulation and spending on just about every issue. PA FIRED HIM, big time.

I’d trust Newt to go in and begin the clean-up in DC. Our economy, jobs, foreign affairs, energy, etc. will not get better until we get the right folks in leadership in DC, from the top down. The old guard Senators and Congressmen in DC do not want Newt to take the helm as President…they know he knows exactly what’s going on, what’s wrong with the system, and he’s smart enough to know how to begin fixing it…they fear that! He has enough “bullying” power to push Congress and the Senate in particular, to clean things up and get this country back on the right course. The other candidates might be good, but they don’t know half as much as Newt does. Ron Paul is completely a Libertarian, has never stopped being one though he changed his party affiliation to Republican so he could get elected. I predict that he will skew the whole process up by running as an third party candidate…he won’t stay in the Republican party through the election.
Sherryl, great post! Newt is the only one that can fight back from all the CRAP the Dems will throw at any Repub candidate. And, we can trust him to DO THAT. I think the CHALLENGE of defeating Obama and beginning the process of restoring the America we knew when we grew up is invigorating Newt and we have yet to see the best of his wrath for Obama and the liberal media.
All those things you say Newt has (knows what’s wrong with the system, knows how to begin fixing it, “bullying” power, etc.) I believe Santorum has. Also, there have not been any serious manifestation of character issues in his personal life, unlike Newt. If we can’t trust someone’s personal decision making, then we shouldn’t be able to trust their decision making in areas that effect an entire nation.

A great question! My answer is a definite “SANTORUM.” I believe he’s the only normal, REAL CONSERVATIVE left in the race who can possibly stand up for the issues that are important to us against Obama. The other candidates, bashing one another for their baggage, are either strange, liberal or progressive — of course all marketed and hidden, so that they “appear” to be the most electable, popular candidate that the people will choose.
However, Santorum isn’t pandering to anyone.
He’s just who he is, standing up for what he believes. He doesn’t swing to wear the wind blows… but is a real honest good guy, that may not have all the witticisms, big $$, or debate punches…but he’s the kind of guy I would trust to leave my kids with, my money with, and my country with – under his protection and common sense.
I would trust him with my life and my country. He’s not perfect, but I’m not looking for perfect. I’m looking for a REAL CONSERVATIVE who I can TRUST.

If you actually LOOK at his record, more often than not, he voted and acted like a liberal. Supporting the very LIBERAL Arlen Specter, not once but twice (once for Pres and once for Senator) over the conservative, he even introduced a bill that would make all of us PAY the National Weather Service for weather and warning information. (that’s just one idiotic thing that did NOT endear him to PA).
He is PRO-REGULATION and PRO-SPENDING. Is this what we want from a REPUBLICAN President? If a Republican votes like a Dem, you cannot trust him, and he is NOT the lesser of the evils; we already elected a President that hid who he really was. We don’t need another. The REpublican Party changed the rule a month before the deadline and started VERIFYING signatures; something they didn’t do with Paul and Romney signatures. Gingrich collected 11,120 signatures, but when verified because of the NEW RULE, the party disqualified enough to keep him off the ballot. NONE, not even the required 10,000, of Paul’s or Romney’s signature were ever verified.

I definitely do not trust any candidate that has not challenged the Constitutionality of the Obamanation, and I do not trust the would be unconstitutional( not natural born) Romney! Of the other two I think Newt is the most conservative and the most open. Northern Repiblicans almost always are moderate socialist, big government, in your face big spenders like Romney, and like Boehner. And yes even Gingrich will require watching and keeping in line by the House (forget the Senate, we can not get enough new faces in to save it, With all the RINOs we will be lucky to fend it off).
I only trust Rick Santorum. He is the God fearing and constituional conservative that we need to back. Romney is a RINO and Gingrich is a member of the Council on Foregn Relations, which is an organization that wants to create a one world government. Only Rick will follow two TEA Party principles:
1. Like our founders, we believe we are accountable to a sovereign God who grants us unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
2. Like our founders, we believe the constitution strictly limits the power of the federal government and uniuely recognizes and protects those unalienable individual rights.

Right on! Santorum for President 2012. He fears God and that is most important, because God is the only one capable of healing our country. I pray he accepts Jesus Christ as his Savior, though, so that he can have a a personal relationship with the Creator instead of merely acknowledging Him and His Word. But he’s at least doing that (acknowledging God and the Bible), which is more than the other candidates are doing.

Newt is a liar. First he supported Rockefeller and then he supported Goldwater. He cannot keep his lies straight, just like Bill Clinton. I find it amazing that the GOP cannot support and nominate a candidate that can win. The GOP presidential nominee has lost the majority vote to the Democrat nominee four of the last five presidential elections. Only screwed up Florida saved us in 2000. Will we ever learn? Rick Santorum is the only sincere candidate in this race! Ron Paul’s foreign policy will get the U.S. blown up by Iran in no time!And he has made it clear that he isn’t supportive of Israel! The bible says that who ever is against Israel will be cursed! Gingrich’s stated not long ago that he was supportive of Obamacare and not all of a sudden he says he’d repeal it! The same goes with Romney! They are both double minded. Romney said in an interview 2 or 3 months ago that he was okay with homosexual marriage and now because Santorum has been getting all of the evangelical endorsements, he is suddenly against them! Who the heck does he think he’s kidding?! Rick is the only one who stands firm in his values and who is truly pro-family and pro-values! People are not doing their homework once again, just like back in 2008! They are going off of feelings and feelings almost always lie to us! Christians need to pray a sincere prayer and ask God for keen discernment! I see a lot of deception at play in this race, just like the one back in 08! I used to talk to so called Pastors, deacons, preachers, etc who come in my job who were praising Obama up and down! Newt thinks that he can ride in to The White House on the Coat-tails of Ronald Reagan. When Newt did absolutely nothing signifigant during those Reagan Years to earn himself any notice. Newt is sly and snakey, he wiggles is way through by lies and deceit. Newt wants the public to believe that he is some kind of wonderful person when he is not. Newt has been married 3 times where as Mitt Romney has been married only once. Who is more Moral? I say Mitt Romney. Who remains Calm? I know it is Mitt Romney. Newt Gingrich has alot of Resentments and Anger in him. Mitt Romney does not hate at all, ever. Mitt Romney obeys GOD. I only agree with Rick Santorum on the fact that there should not be any Taxes at all. I do not approve of Herman Cain’s 9, 9, 9 plan.
Mitt is the only one who can get us out of the mess we are in. I won’t vote for a 2+ time adulter with a slut wife to be first lady, I could vote for Rick but he won’t beat ovomet, and Ron is nuttier than a fruit cake. So the only real choice is romney. By leaving Paul out of this poll you invalidate any significance it may contain. You also add to the reason that Paul supporters will consider whether they should vote for the eventual Republican nominee. If they believe that Paul was the victim of a concerted campaign between the media and the Republican establishment, they will have consider voting for Gary Johnson. That will easily be 15% of the Republican voters lost because of stupidity by people like Javier Manjarres.
