Hello, Allen West is not running for the U.S. Senate. Can we get off that obsession? Lets concentrate on what is really happening. Senator DeMint should demonstrate some bold leadership and not worry about who currently has the most money.

Endorse a candidate who is a principled CONSERVATIVE and a freedom fighter who will join him in the U.S. Senate as a defender of liberty and our constitution. The only principled CONSERVATIVE in the Florida U.S. Senate race is MARIELENA STUART http://www.STUART2012.com. Senator DeMint should step up and show that its not politics as usual. The people of Florida will find it refreshing and he will be hailed for his decision to endorse a candidate who is not part of the republican establishment.

  2. tncdel says:

I don’t fathom DeMint citing Rubio for the presidency instead of West. Rubio is ineligible since both his parents became naturalized citizens when he was 4 years old.

    • Walker says:

You are absolutely right, tncdel, he is NOT eligible. And one would think a U.S. Senator would know the Constitution enough to know that. Even IF Rubio were eligible, AND HE IS NOT, West would be a candidate than Rubio. I don’t know what is wrong with DeMint. I used to respect him, but there is no excuse for him to be this ignorant about the constitution.
I also am very unhappy that he would not endorse a conservative candidate . . .in the SC primary. I am beginning to believe that we can’t trust him.
I don’t even know why people make such a big deal about Rubio. I lost confidence when he kissed Romney’s behind in the Florida primary and caused the surge to shift from Newt to Romney. . . ..and if you are in Washington and have any common sense, you know that Romney is not a conservative. Rubio kissed Romney’s behind and refused to endorse Newt , because Romney contributed to his (Rubio’s) campaign . . .in other words, Romney bought Rubio.
Aren’t you all a little tired of politicians selling us down the river to the highest bidder . .or should I say contributor??
And once again, for DeMint to be serving in the U.S. Senate and not be smart enough to know what a “natural born” citzen is . . .that is a disgrace. Rubio is an Anchor Baby . . he was born in the U.S. to non-citizens . . ..
DeMint is an ignorant politician living off of our hard-earned tax dollars. Shame on him . . .

      • yshaw says:

Rose, Did it ever occur to you that Rubio is favoring Romeny because perhaps he feels he can WIN the election?
That is what this is all about remember…..

Rubio is an honorable man don’t undercut him.

      • Rubio is not only eligible but he would beat Barack Obama and beat him decisively. Look at the demographics! He would win with women. He would win with “young upwardly mobile professionals and technicians. Tea Party loves him! Establishment is comfortable with him. He is both a fiscal and social conservative. He is a confirmed supply sider. He is the husband of an immigrant. Arianna Huffington called Marco Rubio the “Obama of the Right.” In truth, Democrats deeply fear Marco Rubio. If Republicans are lucky enough to have a brokered convention, their fear might be manifested.

      • Harry smith says:

Where does it say in the U.S. Constitution that , to be qualified, your parents have to be natural born citizens?

    • Rose says:

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Another birther in the hizzeeeeeeee!

      • Debbie Texas says:

Birther? Grow up. This is not even about ‘where’ the scumbag was born…you are buying into the manipulation and avoiding the facts and the truth.

Qualifications for President go far beyond the place of birth. Natural Born, Native and Naturalized are distinguished through specific definition…and ICE has defined each.

The sad reality is the serious dumbing down of our society to accommodate the few and the ease with with people are manipulated by a machine set up to do just that.

    • Luis R Vazquez says:

    • Read the 14th amendment. That’s not how it works!

    • Read the 14th amendment! That’s not how it works! It would have been the case had Rubio been board outside the US. But he wasn’t.

      • Lou says:

First point is that American’s seem love Marco Rubio, and he is a U.S. Citizen. However, Rubio is not “natural-born,” and does not qualify for office of President or V.P. The 14th Amendment gives people the right to vote, it does not mention presidential eligibility. The 14th Amendment does specify who has the right to be an “elector”, or someone who votes the the USA. Marco Rubio has the right to vote, and can vote for the President/V.P. since he has no history of rebellious behavior as stated in the 14th Amendment, and he is a U.S. Citizen. Many continue to respect Jim Demint, but he is not a lawyer, and is a human. Marco Rubio is a lawyer, and most likeley has studied this issue in law school. The issue isn’t about personalities, it’s about the law, and the long-term survival of our nation.

    • kerijay says:

And Obama is! Republicans not demanding his records, emails, Soc Sec # and BC. The only reason Georgia court took the BC issue was to put it at rest as we all should’ve known how it was to turn out.

The DNC can vet all Republicans including Palin while the GOP hides and we need leaders like that I don’t think so.

      • Lou says:

Two wrongs don’t make a right. Eligibility is an issue with our current president, it’s been in the courts, it’s unsettling the citizens of this nation. The congress has the power to investigate this, but they choose not to do so. The issue isn’t about Senator Rubio, or President Obama, it’s about the law, and the U.S. Constitution. Do we as a nation elect to follow rule-of-law, or disregard the framework of our nation for convenience. The proof of the unrest can be seen from the follow-up of this article.
If there was no issue, we wouldn’t be discussing it.

    • G. Joan says:

I understand that this is just not true. He can run for VP or President.

  3. bett says:

Rubio again misquoted never said won’t be in Senate but IF in Senate another yr will be Gray haired!!
He also voted NDAA w/92 other ill informed non followers of the US Constitution!! They all need to re take
the oath to defend it and perhaps don’t know what it says is the problem w/this gov’t. The solid foundaton is shook w/ignorance. Ron Paul 2002 predictions came true, saw on youtube and pretty insightful for a flake!
I think he understands where the country needs to be and now has my vote.

  4. Michelle says:

Just because his parents became naturalized citizens when he was four does not mean he is ineligible for President.
Rubio was born in Miami, Fl, is older than 35 years old, and has been a resident of the U.S for 14 years. Therefor, Marco Rubio is eligible for President.

    • Debbie Texas says:

Idiotic…and uninformed…misled…and dangerous for America. This kind of thinking is what is destroying America. A lack of understanding of where we come from and why these laws and requirements were enacted was the very reason why our Forefathers were so careful in drafting our founding documents.

Americans from all Parties, races, genders, ages and educational backgrounds understand and work everyday using their personal resources to clean up the lawlessness and restore the rule of law and respect for the blood shed to gift us with this nation. This has nothing to do with bigotry; it has to do with preservation. We are either a law abiding society or we are a nation of chaos.

I was all for West until he blew it for me. There is always the opportunity for redemption and any of our legislators and public servants who decide to stand up and tell the truth and go to work restoring our country and our trust

Why does anyone come to America? They come for the Freedom, the Liberty, the opportunities…and many come for the free ride that our working citizens pay for and are turned away from when they need help. Some come to change the very thing they want so badly.

Anyone who comes here as an immigrant…a legal immigrant can learn the language and commit their loyalty or they can get the hell out.

All who attempt it illegally should be looking down the barrel of a border patrol rifle…this is nothing less than invasion…no different than someone kicking down my front door and helping themselves to what I worked hard for. They have the opportunity…but only through legal means. Any other means is ILLEGAL. It’s time people understand the difference between what is legal and what is not.

  5. I am a 71 year old Hispanic with vast political involvement in all areas.

It saddens me that while our country is beset with enormous problems, both domestically and internationally, the media people are fiddling while Rome is burning.

While things that really matter go uninvestigated and unreported, we are constantly being fed inane nonsense of no consequence.

The late Steve Allen was right “America is being dumbed down”.

While I am an admirer of Marco Rubio for his accomplishments and common sense savvy, I find this fixation that Manjarres has about a Rubio V.P selection a waste of time.
There is no doubt in my mind that Senator Rubio will make a good President in approximately 9 years.

For now, I would hope the media would do some research and reporting on the U.S.A policy toward all of Latin America.
The research should involve the past and the present, only by knowing what came before, can you plan ahead. The next V.P should be assigned the task of solidifying relationships with our neighbors to the South and the V.P candidate eminently qualified to carry out these duties is right here in Florida.

  6. Riquin says:

My whole family will vote for Rubio right now!!!

Rubio is really good. The way he handles meetings new ideas, etc.

He is great and again will vote for him.

  7. Don39 says:

With all due respect to Sen. DeMint. Rubio is not constitutionally qualified to be POTUS, and I would never support him and I dfo not believe taht after the Obamanation nightmare that many other Conservatives would support him either! Further I have advocated a DeMint presidency and now based on his ignorance of the Constitution , I withdraw any such notion.

    • Luis R Vazquez says:

Mr. Don 39; with all due respect, Sir. You are the one who ignores the Cosntitution.
      Marco Rubio is qualified.
Refer to Article II, Section One of our Constitution.
Bigotry and Ignorance make people look ridiculous.

      • rwcx says:

I am speculating that you are a new comer to our country.
You are the ignorant one. You come here and try to change our laws and culture. If you don’t like our country go home.

    • Yes he is! Read the 14th amendment. A lot of Americans, good intelligent people haven’t taken the time to read and understand what this amendment actually says. True, it was instigated during Reconstruction. The framers were considered radical by historians. But, it’s pretty black and white. Marco was born in Miami in 1971. His parents naturalized in 1975. That doesn’t matter! Had he been born somewhere besides the U.S. it would have come into play. But he wasn’t. Facts are facts. DeMint knows his stuff. And, as a husband to an immigrant, so do I. Marco is as eligible to run for President as Williams Jefferson Clinton was!

        Orly,
Please feel free to use this as you see fit. I have pasted it to this email and included as an attachment. My plan is to get this to as many sites and persons as possible who would have an interest, to include the attorney General in Virginia but wanted you to have it first.
        God Bless,
        David
Open Letter to the Honorable John G. Roberts Jr.
Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court
        Sir, 7 Feb. 2012
It has now been over three years since I last wrote you begging for the good of the Country the Court take on the Presidential Eligibility issue which continues to cause division and angry discourse among the Citizens. The opportunity has been before you multiple times and still you deny the American people a hearing on the Merits. Justice Thomas in a House subcommittee last year appears to have confirmed that the Court is intentionally “evading” this issue which indeed seems to be the case. If this is the case to what good end do you see this avoidance? I do not desire to cast aspersions but I am perplexed at the workings of the court seeming to hear and decide cases which, in the weight of importance, pale in comparison. I shake my head in disbelief. Rest assured I would not raise such questions as these and those I am about to if I had not heard Justice Thomas indicate you had taken a course of evasion.
I know as an experienced Physician an early diagnosis and treatment improves outcomes. Do you not think the same principle applies to the healing of our Nation? We are now headed rapidly into another general election with the question of the Framers intent relevant to Mr. Obama regarding the “Natural Born Citizen” clause hanging over us. To add significant weight to the situation we now have several Republican candidates for President being vetted with a parent born overseas.
We are divided on the issue and in need of resolution. I am now hearing my fellow Citizens who support Mr. Obama begin to cry foul that those on the Right who challenge him on the eligibility issue “hunker down in silence” when it comes to the “Darlings of the Grand Ole Republican party”. Take for instance Bobby Jindal and Marco Rubio who some have touted as excellent choices for Vice President or perhaps President in the future. I am convinced that NEITHER Mr. Rubio or Mr. Jindal meets the requirements under the definition of a Natural Born Citizen. I am NOT saying that either of them would NOT be a good President. This is NOT about political views as it is NOT with Mr. Obama. This is NOT about race as Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum whose fathers are foreign born are also not immune. I am saying that the “cult of personality” or the partisan desire for power does not trump the rule of law for if it does we are NOT a Nation of laws but rather of men.
Those who accuse the Right of hypocrisy are absolutely justified to do so! They were right in 2008 when they questioned the eligibility of Senator John McCain only to have their concerns ignored and then “fixed” by Senate resolution 511 (interestingly supported by Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama himself ) declaring McCain eligible. Is this how our system is intended to work? Issues of Constitutional import get “fixed” by Congressional Resolution? I think not. While Rome is burning it appears the system of “Good Ole Boy” and to not leave out the ladies “Good Ole Girl” cronyism has no problem reaching across the aisle when it comes to helping themselves. No wonder John McCain dared not broach the Obama eligibility issue as he was already beholding to Mr. Obama. No wonder the “Established Republicans” sit on their hands mute like guilty children paying penitence and do NOTHING but to ignore pleas from their own constituents to support the Constitution. Shame on all of them; they are a National disgrace. How can they wonder why the public holds them in such low esteem? But I digress.
I am certain the court must be aware of the recent ballot challenge in Georgia in which the defendant Mr. Obama chose willfully to ignore the Court and not produce any documentation to support his claim that he is eligible to be on the ballot. It is obvious that the decision by Judge Malihi in favor of the defendant is fatally flawed as the defendant produced no documents, no sworn testimony and in fact the defendant produced absolutely nothing in defiance of a court order even though the burden of proof according to Georgia law resided with the defendant in the affirmative. This decision and Secretary of State Brian Kemps decision to uphold the ruling no doubt are going to appeal and there are other cases pending. Does the court not think it wise to settle this issue urgently? Certainly the Court recognizes that the preservation of the integrity of the free election process we are approaching hangs in the balance. To this effect there are pressing questions that deserve immediate answers.
        · Is it your intent to continue “evading”, as Justice Thomas has implied, and deny application to hear this case leaving us divided with no clear answers going forward into the general election and beyond?
        · If you do plan to hear this before the general election exactly when do you intend to do so?
        · What if Mr. Obama indeed fails the eligibility test? Is it not reasoned the longer you wait the less chance the Democratic Party would have in fielding and vetting a qualified candidate? Would a delay into late spring or summer tip the balance and even decide the election for the Republicans? Can you imagine the outrage and rightful indignation of the Democrats should this occur? What about the Republican candidates? Permit me to suggest that it may be wise and prudent to settle this issue so that the Parties and the States can verify the Candidates on both sides meet the eligibility requirements without anymore delay.
        · Do you not consider this as an important issue? Are you content to let the Constitution die a slow death by a thousand small cuts? Have you rendered yourselves irrelevant other than to determine the pace at which we dispose of it?
        · Do we still have a Constitutional Republic or is it an illusion? If it is lost do you not have a moral and ethical duty to inform the Soldiers who are dying in an effort to defend it ? The questions can go on and on ad infinitum.
In spite of the questions, I am not willing to accept that all we have fought for is gone. This for me is to think the unthinkable! So, perhaps the truth of why you are evading the issue is more straightforward. Might I be so bold as to state the obvious: your actions suggest that you are evading hearing this issue because you ALREADY KNOW THE ANSWER and you are afraid of the social and political consequences of that decision. This has all the appearances that through the deliberate actions of some and the inaction of others, we have created in essence a colossal mess; a constitutional crisis of immense proportion that must be addressed before we have yet another botched election process.
I ask the court to forgive my lack of decorum if my letter is perceived as deficient for I am certain it is but I trust that you will accept that my intentions are honorable and I mean no disrespect to the Court; but I cannot hide my own frustration and fears and I wish to convey a sense of urgency and a desire to see that our Constitution is upheld. My argument to the Court is simple; the time to settle this case is NOW. It goes without saying that any officers of the court that have a vested interest in this case should recluse themselves; in particular those whose appointments would become null and void should Mr. Obama be proven to NOT be eligible and thus lack the legal authority to appoint them. The American People are watching. The World is watching. We the People deserve and demand answers.
This issue is not going away. A YouGov poll in January of 2012 shows a full 41% of Americans doubt the Obama birth narrative in spite of his releasing a “long form birth certificate”. What question before the court this very moment is more important than the determination the person holding the Office of President of the United States has the LEGAL AUTHORITY to hold that office? Certainly not Health Care for if Mr. Obama did not have the legal authority to sign it in the first place the law is VOID and your deliberations on the merits are worthless. In Minor V. Happersett did the court not determine the citizenship status of Virginia Minor before moving forward and that she being born of parents who themselves are US citizens and being born in the United Sates was a “Natural Born Citizen”? Given the myriad questions surrounding Mr. Obama and the doubts of the citizens Mr. Obama was even born here, should you not first establish as FACT that he has the authority to sign the Health Care Bill? What have you seen as tangible evidence that he does? A Birth Certificate on the Web or what he presented to the Georgia Court…absolutely NOTHING? Millions of people see the Emperor has no clothes; I trust you would not wish to put the court in such a humiliating position as the Emperor.
What I saw occur in Georgia this past few weeks is absolutely frightening and I myself am afraid. You must understand the concerns among the Citizens that we no longer have the rule of law are not completely unfounded. Who among us can willfully disregard a court order, not pay a penalty and then prevail in a Court of Law? If allowed to stand what precedent does this set? Is he really above the law? I saw Mr. Obama at the State of the Union address of 27 Jan. 2010 show a flagrant contempt for the Judiciary. What makes you so confident that he would even abide by your decision should you find him not eligible and willingly step down? I have seen nothing to suggest he would. I hope I am wrong.
Our Constitution is precious. To me the words written on that parchment are more than just the ramblings of old men whose ideas have run their course. The words are a sacred promise, purchased with the precious blood and treasure of those who have come before, between the Government and the Citizens that we will NOT HAVE OUR GOD GIVEN RIGHTS INFRINGED UPON OR TAKEN FROM US EVER AGAIN. This promise, the covenant crafted from the laws of God and Nature requires for its survival an independent Judiciary, committed to the elucidation of truth, armed by the conviction of the human spirit humbled before our Creator, unafraid and undaunted to stand on the side of Justice regardless of the price. If the Supreme Court “evades” our concerns who are we the citizens to look to for relief? The nature of man is corruptible and MUST be restrained by the rule of law. Our right to have a President that respects the law, does not hold himself above it , fulfills the Constitutional requirements to hold the office and who defends the Constitution it is implicit. As I did in January of 2009, I again plead with you to settle this issue of concern for the challenges we face as a Nation are many, the time is short and we must not fail.
        Respectfully Submitted,
        Dr. David Earl-Graef USAFR MC

A Santorum/West ticket would absolutely devastate Obama and Marxism!

  10. This is disappointing. I expected better of a conservative U.S. Senator. I’m sorry, but there’s no excuse for a U.S. Senator to not know the definition of “natural born citizen”.

  11. Jen H says:

    From the American Thinker….
Now, consider Marco Rubio. His parents were resident aliens when he was born in 1971, seeking and soon to receive their status as naturalized U.S. citizens. Under the Fourteenth Amendment, “all persons born…in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the states wherein they reside.” This “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” clause shows why Rubio is — and, very likely, why children of illegal aliens are not — a “natural born citizen of the United States.”

If either Rubio or West runs for office, they have my vote… both are rock stars and are what this country needs!

  12. GregInFla says:

If Obama is POTUS, then Rubio can be POTUS. Enough said. In fact, best time for Rubio to run is against Obama. Obama camp cannot challenge Rubio’s creds. It would be a waste for Rubio to be VP. Florida cannot even get a challenger for Nelson’s Senate seat this year. Connie Mack is married to a California Congresswoman, so his heart is not even in Florida. Gimme a break.

    • Debbie Texas says:

You don’t make something right by doing something wrong. We allow the illegal installation of Obama to stand and all the illegal actions he has taken stand.

You think that because one person broke the law, then it is open season?

  15. Luis R Vazquez says:

Someone sugested a ticket with Marco Rubio and Allen West.
That would not be possible, since both reside within the same State and is explicitly prohibited by the Cosntitution

    • rwcx says:

Could you cite where in the Constitution it say a President and Vice President can not be from the same state.

    • Debbie Texas says:

The problem with West is clear in his racism as well.

He has made statements about people being angry because he got off the plantation.

He voted for the extortion of $ 1.25 Billion and payout to 80,000 black farmers even though they had not applied for the loans nor were they ever black farmers. Later West admitted he had not read the legislation nor understood it prior to voting. Was this racism or stupidity or dereliction of duty…the bottom line is that he violated his oath and the rules by which they are required to entertain or vote.

He has been silent on the issue of the Usurper in our White House…another violation of his oath to uphold our Constitution and legislate on behalf of all…not a segment of the population.

He violated his oath as an officer of our military when he refused to stand up for LtC. Lakin or LtC.Walter Fitzpatrick…both of whom put their freedom and more on the line regarding the issue of the Usurper.

There is more…but, I have problems with West on these issues and they are not small matters.

That does not mean I don’t like some of his rousing speeches…but rhetoric and promises and eloquence and passion are not enough.

Marco Rubio cannot run because the US Constitution says he cannot be preident.

  17. rwcx says:

The Senator swore to up hold the Constitution yet he promotes Rubio for President. Rubio is not a natural born citizen. With this logic a Moslem terrorist born in this country could be President.
I believe that any Congressman that does not up hold the Constitution in it’s entirety has committed Treason. Where Oh where have all the honorable men gone O Lord.
We must vote all these dishonorable men out of office.

    • Yes he is! Please do the research! DeMint is not stupid! He knows this! Rubio was born in Miami in 1971. Read the 14th amendment. That’s it!

      • rwcx says:

One problem with our country is that our recent emigrants do not want to melt into the pot,but want to change the pot.

      • Debbie Texas says:

Jeff…it’s not merely a matter of where one is born. It’s about the parents. By your misunderstanding of this amendment vs. the Natural Born clause related to eligibility; Osama Bin Laden could have brought a pregnant wife and let her dumper her spawn on our soil with the express purpose of running the little bastard for President 35 years later.

Look at Minor vs. Happerstat for precedent. And…if it was not a problem; why were there eight attempts to change the definition and/or remove the clause by Republican and Democrat legislators in the short period leading up to the installation of Obama…WHO DOES NOT SATISFY THE REQUIREMENTS NO MATTER HOW YOU CUT IT. And further; there is still no viable legal proof of his origins. That matter was not ‘settled’ by forged and faked documents.

  18. Debbie Texas says:

As my dad used to say “Jeeeeeesus Keeeerist”! What is wrong with these jackasses?!

DeMint is no leader if he is going to push another ineligible candidate for President or Vice President. This is a clear violation of his Oath to the Constitution and they are all GUILTY through their silence regarding the Muslim Sewer Rat in Chief.

Just because some Muslim Marxist Pig got away with it because our Fiduciaries and some megalomaniacal cabal decided to install him as their puppet; doesn’t change the LAW.

They know it violates the Constitution because they tried EIGHT times leading up to Obama’s illegal installation to change the definition or remove it altogether.

There are many Americans who don’t care who it is, what the Party affiliation or how much we like him or her…the bottom line is the Constitutional requirements supersede all of that for a very viable reason and anyone who doesn’t get it or chooses to bypass it can get the hell out of my country. It’s about Loyalty … Stupid. And the current Usurper demonstrates why loyalty and adherence to our Constitution and Bill of Rights is so important. If the fools don’t get it after four years of insanity and blatant destruction of everything that made us strong and the envy of the world; they need to be dragged out in handcuffs and dispensed with properly and legally.

WE are not going to stop exposing the crimes and who committed them to get the fraud in our White House installed and we are not going to sit by quietly while they try to pull off the same gambit with Rubio or anyone else.

This is clear Treason on the part of our collective public servants. They thought they would set a precedent with a Negro because we would be too worried about the charge of racism. The racists are Obama (or whatever his real name is), Holder and those who would use race to deflect from their criminal and un-American activities.

Are Americans so stupid that they would choose to break the law for their guy while complaining about the ‘other guys’? Are they really going to put their heads down, ignore the reality and follow blindly…AGAIN?

Anyone, like DeMint who pushes this should be Impeached, imprisoned and cut off from any benefits paid for by the American people.

  19. I totally agree with DeMint. Rubio would be a better Presidential candidate than V.P. pick. True, he’d bring energy to any of the GOP hopefuls. But, as a Presidential candidate opposing Barack Obama, the Republicans would ignite an angry, restive constituency. The 18-34″Yuppietechs”(young upwardly mobile professionals and technicians) broke for Obama in ’08. They are leaning the other way in ’12. Marco Rubio is a “rock star like” Republican who would excite and mobilize them!

Rubio did exceedingly well with women in the 2010 Florida Senate race. He is one of the few Republicans embraced by both establishment and Tea Party. Rubio is a supply sider. He is both a social and fiscal conservative. Adding Condoleeza Rice, a former Secretary of State and National Security Adviser to the ticket would insure a general election victory. I would anticipate 400+ electoral college votes in the end. The country would be both saved and united. Unfortunately, only a “brokered convention” will get us there!

Can you cite a tea party the indorsed Rubio for President. I think you are a RINO trying to muddy the water.

      • Which Tea Party? As you recall, they wanted him in their caucus. He proclaimed the Tea Party to be a “main street” movement. That was both wise and correct. The Tea Party, the “real Tea Party” is about fiscal conservatism. True, it has been somewhat co-oped by Libertarians and social conservatives. But the Tea Party that I am a member of, the “Tea Party Patriots” is only about fiscal conservatism. I certainly don’t think that translates to “R.I.N.O.” Unfortunately, some of the Tea Parties have drifted away from the original concept. But Marco Rubio hasn’t! The Social Conservatives want Roe v. Wade overturned and a constitutional amendment that defines marriage between a man and a women. Rubio is a social conservative. But, unlike Libertarians, he favors a strong national defense. Marco favors an energy policy. All Republicans, even most “R.I.N.O.s” favor oil and gas exploration, together with “Clean Coal Technology.”

  20. I suggest that Manjarres do some reporting on our attitude and policy toward our Latin American neighbors, rather than fixating on what is nothing more than political pandering relative to a Marco Rubio V.P selection.

That played out many moons ago, it is time some media people and the called advisers got up to date relative to the Hispanic vote.

Based on over 45 years of political involvement in many areas, there is no doubt in my mind that Senator Rubio has a grasp of how government functions and will someday be a good President, but, not now. The person equipped intellectually, in more ways than one, to solidify our relationships with ALL Latin American countries resides in Florida and I hope for our sakes that the Republican party finds
    him.

    • I like Jeb too! But would the country “buy” another Bush at this time? They should! But, I am not certain that they would! It’s unfortunate, too! George W. was a much better president than the one we have now. History will be kind to him. But that will likely be twenty years in the future.

Marco may be young. But he has more experience at this point in his career than Obama did. I believe that with a “foreign affairs savvy” V.P. like Condi Rice, theirs would be a ticket that could truly unite the country.

  21. Barry Thistlethwaite says:

The Constitution does not define the phrase natural-born citizen, but the Congressional Research Service has stated that the weight of scholarly legal and historical opinion indicates that the term means one who is entitled under the Constitution or laws of the United States to U.S. citizenship “at birth” or “by birth,” including any child born “in” the United States (other than to foreign diplomats serving their country, plus other circumstances like children of U.S. citizens born abroad.

This is the common usage and application, and it’s the current law that makes children born of illegal immigrants citizens: anchor babies. Agree or disagree, this is the current law.

Those “birthers” who deny this truth and attempt to evade this reality are deceiving themselves and attempting to deceive others.

    • Richard H.Irish says:

The Congressional Research Service did a terrible DISSERVICE to not only Congress, but to the entire Country with their falacious diatribe claiming Obama/Soetoro/Soebarkah/Bounel as “eligible” for the office of President. Even the Senate was aware of the fact that parentage by TWO United States citizens was required for “natural born status” when they passed S.2128 recognizing that John McCain was, indeed, a natural born citizen, born of U.S. citizn “parentS”, plurasl! [emphasis added] This was not only the ultimate in hypocrisy, Obama/etc., and Hillary voting for this resolution, but an ironic support for the attack on that very Constitution they had all sworn to ‘SUPPORT AND DEFEND… AGAINST ALL ENEMIES DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN”. If Obama/etc., is NOT an “enemy” of our Constitution, I guess I do not recognize one!

  22. man_in_tx says:

Marco Rubio, though undoubtedly a fine, young man, does not need to go above his current level of responsibility at this time. Do you folks not see how we have gotten burned by prematurely escalating a charismatic young Senator (Obama) to the White House? You want to do this again?

Case in point: Rubio was following McCain like a puppy dog, praising the rebels in Libya — that’s right, the al-Qaida-backed rebels who were killing blacks, who shoved a stick up Gadafi’s butt (before killing him ruthlessly on the spot, without a trial), who are to this day torturing (just pulled the toenails out of a former Libyan diplomat’s toes) and killing their prisoners. Clearly, Rubio may understand Cuban issues, but he is sophomoric (at BEST) in his understanding of issues in lands farther than 90 miles from our shores.

In sum: Marco Rubio is not that bright, not that conservative, and not that eligible (not natural born). By the way, the issue is not is he eligible to be an American citizen (which is a lower standard), but is he eligible to hold the office of President (a much stricter standard). (Of course, I will readily admit that Obama is not eligible either, but that did not stop him from achieving the position.)

DeMint was only ONE of 7 who voted FOR OUR US CONSTITUTION by voting against the NDAA. Rubio voted for it and against the OATH he vowed to defend it.He may be better than Obama, but the foundation of our gov’t cannot support this lack of integrity. NDAA vote needs reversed. Hillar’s UN Small Arms Treaty must be stopped! Only a few weeks to vote against the 2nd amendment! Join me in calling 100 senators plus emails on these 2 vital issues tampering w/ Our Sovereignty!!

  24. Louie says:

Rubio can run for President the law you are all talking about was repealed four years after it was enacted.

You should learn the about the rule of law not just repeat something you heard on TV by a man who makes money creating conspiracy theory

  25. Doc says:

Marco Rubio will be a tremendouse leader in the Senate. If you read the explanation the qualifications necessary for President and V.P., you will see that it differs from regular U.S. Citizenship. Marco Rubio may not be eligible for high office, but his children will be.

Here is definition of “Natural Born Citizen”. The definition was the foundation of the ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court, and the ruling has never been overturned.

Additions might always be made to the citizenship of the United States in two ways: first, by birth, and second, by naturalization. This is apparent from the Constitution itself, for it provides6 that ‘no person except a natural-born citizen, or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of the Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President,’7 and that Congress shall have power ‘to establish a uniform rule of naturalization.’ Thus new citizens may be born or they may be created by naturalization.

The Constitution does not, in words, say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common-law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners. Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their [88 U.S. 162, 168] parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case it is not necessary to solve these doubts. It is sufficient for everything we have now to consider that all children born of citizen parents within the jurisdiction are themselves citizens. The words ‘all children’ are certainly as comprehensive, when used in this connection, as ‘all persons,’ and if females are included in the last they must be in the first. That they are included in the last is not denied. In fact the whole argument of the plaintiffs proceeds upon that idea.

  26. JRD says:

I’m over Rubio and his theatrical “red meat” orations. Actions speak louder than words, Marco. The TEA Party got you in office not the GOP establishment. They were backing “Orange Charlie”, remember? You backing Mittbama. That means you want “socialized medicine”, Cap and Trade, VAT tax, supreme court justices like David Souter. That’s not conservative, Marco. See ya. I’ll never give a traitor a second chance.
