The recently re-established “Dogs against Romney” movement is apparently growing legs again as the group is planning to protest against Governor Mitt Romney at this year’s Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City. Romney is now in the political ‘Dog House’ with some dog lovers who have taken issue Governor Romney strapping Fido to the roof of their vehicle during a family vacation back in the 80′s. Romney could have a ‘ruff’ time spinning this story and we expect that PETA will chime on the issue at any moment now and make more of a stink about this story.
The story of the Romney family’s road trip from 1983 was first unveiled by the Boston Globe in 2007. According to the story, Seamus the Irish setter was placed in a dog carrier and attached to the Romney family’s station wagon as they began a 12-hour drive from Boston to Ontario-
A few hours into the road trip, one of Romney’s sons, Tagg, noticed that “a brown liquid was dripping down the back window, payback from an Irish setter who’d been riding on the roof in the wind for hours.”
“As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust, Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station. There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, then hopped back onto the highway. It was a tiny preview of a trait he would grow famous for in business: emotion-free crisis management, Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0212/72840.html#ixzz1mO5k70ay

It is amazing that the animal rights people protest a dog in a kennel atop a station wagon but don’t raise their hackles on the issue of a 3rd trimester fetus being partially aborted. These mutts against mitt protesters were dressed in full furry dog costumes in Florida’s very warm winter temperatures and were “panting” heavily from the heat. I am thinking someone should be held responsible for the irresponsible act of dressing humans in costumes that could cause death from heat stroke or dehydration.
Now I just like Romney all that much more!!!
Imagine, a real person having had a real person experience!
Yeah Mike. I would like to see you riding on top of a station wagon at speeds beyond 60-70 mph and your loving owner giving you a cold shower midway. Mitt. What a guy! Look up this guy’s beliefs when he was young; pro abortion, pro gay marrage, pro gov healthcare, pro big government, pro man made global warming, etc.. This guy claims to be at least as smart as Obama and I for one believe he is. Two as.h.les. Note: Abortion is something that can be seen, can be judged, can be debated by all and all may have differing opinions but at some point during the pregnancy abortion kills a helpless inocent child. END of statement!
I think the one who needs to look up Mitt’s beliefs is YOU – apparently you’ve just slurped up the anti-Mitt spin without ever looking into it.
And do YOU know what the pet crate was like? How do you know it didn’t offer as much protection as sitting in the car with the windows open? And, pray-tell, how do you know how fast they were traveling?
so mitt missed the mark 30 years ago on this little pet charlie foxtrot. it’s only proper etiquette, and in fact ‘more properer’ than they deserve, to strap abortion supporters in rooftop carriers. family pets are far more valuable to mankind.
Boston Globe, 2007, about an alleged incident in 1983? Is that how piciune the Left is getting to rile a segment of the possible voting public? I’ve been to the Westminster once as a spectator. There may be “dog-lovers” interspersed in that group of paid dog-handlers and breeders, but the impression I got was “these ain’t my people.” I got the feeling there was far more commercialism there than love. At the time, I was a hard-working, small businessman, putting in twelve hour days at least six days per week.
The Westminster was a stop for us during a vacation week up north. Once was enough for me.
I am a dog-lover, to the degree that my dogs are adopted from stray animal facilities. At the time of my attendance at the Westminster, our canine pet was an adopted dog. She’d never have qualified for the Westminster, but I’m not pedigreed either. She fit right in with the family.
But, getting back to the demonization of Mr. Romney, (and I’m a Santorum guy)the fact that the Romnneys didn’t place their Setter in a veteranarian’s facility so they could get away tells me their Setter was part of the family to the Romneys. Another thing, if my dogs could ride on the roof, they’d be content, they’re usually half-way out of the rear windows while riding anyway. They can’t get enough of the wind.
If that dog-story is all the leftist press has on Romney, that’s a far stretch to demean the man. I remember Lyndon Johnson picking up his Beagle by the ears. The so-called “press” didn’t try to sensationalize that issue like they’re going after Romney!
My suggestion: Consider the source, it’s the liberal press!
If my husband had EVER attempted to do this he would have been severely ridiculed by me and all the children. The vacation would not have happened. One more situation that leads one to think about a possible Stepford family.DISGUSTING!
Just another “rant’ from the ignorant masses! This administration is herding us over the cliff with it’s continuation of spiraling costs of government. Even though Gov. Romney is a northeast moderate, he recognizes the dangers of government over reach and is willing to stop it. The DNC and it’s social media friends will try to get your attention off the real problems and solutions we face as a people. Don’t be fooled and keep focusing on real substance presented by this great candidate. I am surprised and dissappointed the Shark Tank is even covering this on their site.
OOOOOOOO, the Perplexed Mind of a liberal Unicorn…
Horrified by this BUT not at their beloved Obama for this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYRpIf2F9NA
These people are laughable.
