Meet Richard Clark, Congressional Candidate

April 9, 2012

by Javier Manjarres

The newly drawn 6th Congressional district in Northeast Florida is amping up to become one of the most watched Republican primary race in the whole state. Duval County Commissioner Richard Clark has announced that he will run for Congress in this district, joining already announced candidates Navy officer Ron DeSantis and businessman Craig Miller in primary the race.

On recent trip to Jacksonville, Clark sat down with the Shark Tank to discuss his candidacy. Clark is a husband and father of 2, and he  runs a small family industrial cleaning business aside from his duties as county/city commissioner.  He is also the Chairman of the National Federation of Independent Businesses, and is credited by many for saving taxpayers tens of millions of dollars from the Duval County budget.

Like other candidates running for Congress, Clark does not live within the exact boundaries of the district he is running in. For instance, Congressman Allen West lives outside of the district he currently represents as well as the district he is currently campaigning for.

Clark says that he lives a mere 500f t from living within the sixth congressional district and he will eventually live in the district he grew up in.

”Its home, its where we grew up , its where my family is from”

Clark was both an early supporter of Senator Marco Rubio and Governor Rick Scott, and is currently a staunch supporter of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Clark believes that it’s time for Republicans to coalesce behind Romney, and he also thinks that the contentious Republican primary race between current members of Congress Sandy Adams and John Mica, “will be a very close race.”

As candidates begin to disclose their first quarter fundraising numbers, Clark confidently stated that,”we may double everyone else,” a pretty confident statement considering the fact that donations have been hard to come by this election cycle not only because of the other congressional races in the area, but also because of the ongoing Republican presidential primary.

Clark also says that if and when he is elected to Congress, he will split his time in Jacksonville with his family and working in Washington, D.C.  Clark considers himself a staunch fiscal conservative, and says he hasn’t ruled out living in his congressional office, in order to save money.

Richard Clark is non substantive on public policy, & is in over his head in this race; he will not be the nominee nor out fund raise rock star candidate for Congressional District 6, Ron DeSantis.

The first quarter total ending March 31 shows Ron DeSantis out raising Clark by 45K (so much for his “prediction”) and Ron has never held any elected office but here is his amazing story:

NFL has a chance to elect someone of the caliber of Paul Ryan with Ron DeSantis. And irrespective of the descroption in this article, one cannot live a little bit out of the district, you are either in it or not in it. Richard Clark does not live in Congressional District 6.

  2. Non-substantive is an understatement. Richard Clark is the epitome of way too many local politicians – putting their own interests of getting to the next higher office ahead of everything else. When I co-led a referendum to bring the Navy’s master jet base back from Virginia Beach to Jacksonville, I met personally with Councilman Clark and he told me he was 100% behind me. But when the votes came, only (then) Councilman Art Graham stood up to support. Clark is a flip-flopper, not a someone who is steadfast on principles. He is a follower, not a leader. It’s as easy as ABC, District 6…Anyone But Clark. Personally, I’m supporting Ron DeSantis, although I think Craig Miller would serve well, also. ABC.

  3. JK says:

Richard Clark was a real disappointment as City Councilman (not Commissioner) for District 3. Can’t imagine him in a higher position. He seems to be more interested in moving up rather than his constituents. Remind you of someone else that ran for every office available, and then left the party?

  4. NFL Conservative says:

There are many qualified candidates running in the district 6 race, but what is appealing about Richard Clark is that he has a voting record that shows he walks the walks as a conservative. With Clark we don’t simply have to take his word for it and risk being had like we have with so many other politicians in the past. Clark has a record to run on. He stood firmly against RINO Mayor John Peyton in Jacksonville on multiple new fees and tax increases. Peyton now strongly opposes Clark simply because he is a conservative. If the definition of a rock star Republican is someone who is being funded by a liberal like John Peyton, then heaven help us.

  5. Jared says:

A Career politician with a history of supporting the status quo, who places himself above his constituents.

    What’s there to like?

  6. Clark: The Phony says:

Dick missed meetings for the job he’s supposed to already be doing in Jacksonville in order to Campaign in a different district. Great to know he’s committed to being a career politician.

What’s even more intriguing is Clark’s opposition to Globalism and Agenda 21. Had he been sincere in such opposition, one might give Clark brownie points for standing up to the establishment. But then I discover he was a proud early supporter of Mitt Romney and Marco Rubio, some of the biggest puppets for the international banking cartel in geopolitics. Really? Romney? The guy who gets the majority of his campaign contributions from Goldman Sachs and Wallstreet? The same top contributors for Obama? Can you say sellout?

Perhaps he also wouldn’t have to cut so many taxes if him and his wife weren’t being whisked away to Paris at the expense of taxpayers.
