The War on Women??? Why did the men do all the talking?Nothing has changed in LibLand…War on Women?Speak for yourself?

  3. Paulo says:

    What an emasculated emcee.

  4. Winslow says:

There is NO “war against women”.
Theer is however a war against the Constitution, our economic system, our way of life, but it is being perpetrated by Democrates.

Thank GOD not all of us were educated in the Public Government run schools over the last 30 years and our childern have grown up to be free thinkers.

  5. The emcee (Cramer?) is left-wing Rabbi and attorney Barry Silver, http://barrysilverpa.com/. “Thin” indeed.

  6. J. says:

My thought regarding the protest sign, “Pink Slip Mitt” I just wonder if there was a sign across the street saying “No Pay Check Barack”?

    This is not Theology.

    Pro child?

  10. Steve Wilson says:

If I crush Barry Silvers head in and dump him in the trash,
does that make me Pro Barry?

  11. MacMeanie says:

This was a non-story from the start.

The only war on women is the one of women allowing themselves to be used as an issue by the liberals to attack the GOP. (That is not being reported by the Obama-manic press.)

  12. grace says:

This is so weird! It is the Republican War on Women, we aren’t mad at President Obama at all. Also, I don’t remember it that way at all, in fact there were many more women speaking to us then men, yet you only mention and showplace a man? The emcee was a lovely young woman named Kelly Goins and Alexandra was dressed as a woman from the 19th century because that is the closest she ever wanted to get to what it was like for women back then. You see, we feel that the laws that have been proposed and passed in the past year by Republican legislatures have done nothing to produce jobs, but seem to be drawing a bulls eye on women’s rights to determine what happens to their own bodies. I also remember at least 2 x’s the number of people who attended the event, but that doesn’t matter, because our demonstration was just one of 50 official demonstrations by women and the men who love them and many unofficial rally’s of support that were held on Saturday. Remember that even if you don’t like characterizing this as a war, it can definitely be called dismissal of women’s autonomy or a disdain of women, or how about a marginalization of women, silly little us, we are thinking so hard, it’s making our pretty little heads hurt. Something to remember, if you want to be a real journalist, you should use facts not what you hope or wish happened when you write stories. You will never be anything but a blogger and never grow up to be a real journalist if you don’t try to be objective. Here is the list of speakers, roward County Commissioner Sue Gunzburger, NOW’s Meredith Meredith L Ockman, State Senator Nan Rich, Broward Pro Choice Coalition President Karen Hosto, Rabbi Barry Silver, Democratic Women’s Club of Northeast Broward President Maggie Davidson, State Representative Lori Berman, FAU Professor Jayne Caputi, NOW’s Matthew McWatters McWatters, MiLola’s Jersey Garcia, Planned Parenthood of SE Florida and the Treasure Coast’s Mayte Canino, and State Representative Mark Pafford.

An objective reporter? Get out of your fantasyland.

And no, it’s not a dismissal. You are trying to force me to pay for your reproductive choices, which you, as a fully adult human female, can pay for yourself. To resist that is the epitome of conscience. You do have a conscience, don’t you? Why don’t you take care of yourself, if you’re so liberated?

And oh, supporting the right to life is not anti-woman, THAT is pro-child. You know, the very thing that you deny is human, even though “IT” has a heartbeat at 21 days. What is that growing within you? Hint: it’s sure not an octopus.

  13. Jan L says:

Grace, we have a LOT of work to do!!

  14. grace says:

I can pay for my own contraception, but If I have to then you need to pay for your own Erectile Dysfunction. Fair is fair. Why should I pay so that you can have sex to make babies? It is sort of a lose lose situation for me. The fact is, would you happily pay for me to give birth to a child, then help me feed, hose, clothe, educate and provide health care for that child until it reaches 18 years of age? If it is purely economics and not a twisted morality, clearly you can see how much less money it would take to provide birth control? What about the 9 other children I would have to have because I made the decision to buy bread instead of my pills that month and crossed my fingers and used the rhythm method? Because, telling me not to have sex is a nice idea, but it is a biological imperative and the drive is overwhelming, would you pay for them too? the 9 other little Graces?

  15. Alice says:

Women do NOT have the “right” to murder. Murdering somebody for one’s own convenience makes one a murderous, ego-anal, self-indulgent slut, no different from any murderer. Don’t bother being appalled by the abduction and murder of a four-year old. Why should anybody who’s pro-um, “choice” (note the euphemism)? You rip your own baby’s life from your body and think it’s your “right”. It’s NOT YOUR BODY, YOU PRO-ABORTION MORONS, THAT’S BEING HACKED TO DEATH, IT’S THE BABY’S. You think those are harsh words? Why not? Leftist women call themselves and each other “bitch” and think it’s good. I wish they’d open their eyes. “Oh! I can’t afford children! It’s too expensive! So I’ll murder it!” Ever hear of A D O P T I O N? I’ll repeat it: aaaadddooopppptttioooonnnnnn. Oh! But that’s just too, too INCONVENIENT for you!! Why, you might get STRETCH marks or something! Gasp!

  16. MacMeanie says:

Grace, I don’t have erectile dysfunction. However, if I did I wouldn’t be asking you to pay for it. Also, if paying for birth control is a problem, then you damn well should be able to restrain yourself and manage a rhythm method! Wth you think people did before birth control? Besides, if you can’t afford the child, don’t be making them!

If you have to decide to buy food or birth control, then you’d better keep your legs shut til you learn the rhythm method. Sex is not a biological imperative. If it is, then you must learn some self-control! You could abstain or modify just what you do when you have sex.

If you absolutely have no self restraint, carry yourself to a health department and wait your turn for the free birth control!

  17. AlexWolf says:

Wow. Just… wow. As the “woman in black” I can tell you that this pitiful excuse for a “reporter” misquoted me if they actually bothered to speak to me at all. Grace is exactly right, I wore what I did to signify that that was indeed as close to the 1800s as I ever want to get and as a reminder of just how long women have been fighting to be treated equally in this country. And that’s what I told the many people who asked.

As for the “pink slip Mitt” sign someone handed me, I thought it was amusing. I do think he should be “pink slipped” from politics in general. I’m sure that will be explained to him in November.

Javier, I’m afraid you fail as a journalist, even in the wild world of no standards known as the internet. When you open with misquoting or flat out lying about what was said to you that tells me all I need to know about you and your agenda. The rest of your drivel does not even bear addressing, though people should know you got just about everything wrong.

    • Steve says:

According to your own words, Lady in Black, it sounds like he quoted you pretty accurately and gave us an understanding of why you were dressed like you were going to funeral- by the looks of it, it looks like the “War on Women” is on life support! Stop whining about reporters who do their job and report the facts!

    • Alex, the 19th century is the 1800′s

    • Yes Alex, the 19th century is the 1800′s. Compare what I wrote to what you just commented, and you will see that both remarks are identical

  18. grace says:

I was talking contraception, but if you want to talk about abortion, let’s. When does a life begin? Is it the fertilized egg that looks like a dandelion, is it when the heart beats but there is no brain? Why is it you who gets to decide that? I am all for 3 months as the cut off. Only a very small number of abortions occur after 3 months. Why are you so viciously attached to something that looks like a lima bean? Has no brain or other parts? We could all get along and agree to disagree if we could compromise. But you raving zealots must push for no control over our bodies at all. A fertilized egg is not a person, a fetus with no brain is not a person. Yell, insult and attack all you want, but you are not acting like reasoning human beings. You have pushed the bar too far back. Your primitive beliefs do not have the right to control my body, to probe and insert and shame me. My rights are as important as yours. If the punishment of being pregnant is government scrutiny and fear of incarceration for a miscarriage or stillbirth, then the result will be a refusal to get pregnant, or underground deliveries. Is it reasonable to drive the birthrate down even further. What do you gain forcing people to have children they cannot raise? Adoption? People only want perfect babies, to force someone to go to term and give up the baby is still forcing someone to do what you want them to do. A pill, a procedure some privacy, and there would be no harm. You cannot force thinking people to believe your wild claims of personhood, simply because the sperm and egg started dividing. IT is not logical it is not sane.

    • BoGo says:

I’ll say a prayer for you, sister.

    • Jeff says:

      @ Grace
Why do you think you have a choice about your body? Your body is not yours. It is GOD’s. When you are pregnant, GOD has given you a gift that is very impolite to get rid of. You should think of adoption as the ultimate re-gift. You do not need to have a perfect child to give a child up for adoption to a wonderful, loving foster family. Though being white would be very helpful. Please keep in mind our society will support that child, so you do not need to worry. As you know Conservatives are very happy to support those less fortunate and will welcome more of those less fortunate with open arms. I will pray for you as you seem very needing of a very white male praying for your salvation. However I can not pray for you at this moment, I am on my way to Tootsies, so I can pray for them in person.

      • AlexWolf says:

To Jeff, who actually had the audacity to say our bodies do NOT belong to us but to “God.” First of all Jeff, I don’t BELIEVE in your version of a god. I completely reject the “angry, all knowing, all seeing, old man in the sky” hypothesis that was dreamed up by bloodthirsty Bronze Age tribesman in their efforts to gain a stranglehold on power. No such “god” exists any more than does Zeus or Apollo. More importantly, at least in this country at the moment, I have the LEGAL RIGHT to NOT believe in your ridiculous and hateful version of a god. And therefore, I ALSO have the LEGAL RIGHT to NOT live my life in accordance with the edicts of YOUR “holy book” which is most certainly not mine. MY “god” does not HAVE a penis (or a vagina for that matter) and is a far gentler and loving version of the divine and would never require women to be under the dominion of men nor would this divine creator ever insist that women suffer as brood mares, at the mercy of their biology and the brutality of men. So until you actually manage to overthrow our current government and install your theocracy in its place I must respectfully insist that you sod off and leave us women alone to make our own decisions. If we’re wrong, I’m sure your terrifying god will deal with us in his own good time.

Also Jeff, you are clearly a revolting bigot, in addition to suffering from a rather tenuous grip on basic sanity. You don’t need prayer, you need psychological help.

  19. AlexWolf says:

Javier, no, you did not quote me at all. What you said I said was NOT what I said. And I am not the one confused about when the 19th century was. I did NOT say my dress was indicative of, “how women were oppressed in the 19th century.” Not only that, but you completely missed the point of what I DID actually say. In no way are the two related. You garbled what I said and spit it back out as what you wanted to hear. That doesn’t make me ridiculous, it makes YOU ridiculous. And untruthful. You are either a very poor reporter or a liar. Which is it?

  20. Liz says:

Obama has made women and men miserable qually!

  21. The Fisherman says:

I took the time to read most of the proceeding replies, and I find a common theme: the idea of rights. I would like to pose a question for all to consider. From where do our rights come? Are they from our Creator and inalienable as the Founding Fathers believed, or are they mere social conventions that we find useful which our leaders allow?
If the former, then shouldn’t we be loathe to lightly violate so precious a gift from the One who made all things and who, rumor has it,will be holding us accountable for all our actions? If the latter, then what does it really matter whose conventions we follow, since no one really has it right? It all just becomes a matter of opinion as to how we should live. There is no right to life or abortion or public assisstance or anything unless the “powers that be” say so. Welcme to the Revolution, comrades.

      Easy there, sister.

I believe Jeff was poking fun at my comment with what he intended to be satire. His comments about needing whote male parayer and praying at Tootsie’s (sounds like a “gentleman’s” club) were the giveaways.

When you’re always looking for an opportunity to be offended, you’ll usually succeed.

Two questions: What is your “god”? Gaia? Wicken? Government? Just curious.

Also, if this “god” of yours is so gentle, why does it favor death over life?

      • AlexWolf says:

The beauty of the way this country’s laws were set up means that I am under no obligation to explain my religious beliefs to you. Suffice to say they are more in line with those of many of our founding fathers than you probably imagine. My “god” does not favor death over life but as you yourself pointed out… you’ll just find what you’re looking for rather than accept the facts. I DO hope Jeff was joking. I would far prefer to believe that than that anyone could be so completely awful. If I was “fooled” it is primarily because I have heard so many things like what he said from people who were being completely sincere when they said them. And that’s pretty freaking sad. But I’m done here. The “reporter” who wrote this piece of drivel lied about what I said and does not have the grace or the professionalism to apologize for it and is apparently so incredibly dense that he doesn’t even understand (or at least pretends not to understand)that what I DID actually say in response to his question (and I KNOW what I said because I answered the same question the exact same way SEVERAL times that day) IS, in fact, FAR different from the lame interpretation he chose to give it which was based solely on what he wanted to hear rather than what was actually said. He should probably look for work on Fox News, he’d fit right in.
