How nice of you to ambush the Governor like this. Did you bother to call him and get his side of the story? How many states have you been governor of? Not everything is cut and dry. That’s one of the reasons I have backed off the tea party in the past year – I am so tired of people thinking everything is black and white and being ready to write people who have been friends to conservative Americans because that politician doesn’t tow some imaginary line that tea partiers have drawn in the sand. We have allowed our government to become maddingly complicated and political leaders today are trying to navigate shark-filled waters. Cut them some slack how about it. They are already trying to do a thankless job in a political world run by liberal nuts – they don’t need the few friends they have turning on them like rabid wolves.
VBS, thanks for the rant, now answer the question- why did he bother signing a law that he knew wouldn’t be enforced, along with a photo-op?
Whatever his “side of the story” was, what he did is clear. What Tea partiers want is also clear, but it seems that you have a failure in courage, given how easily you give up on people that are giving everything they’ve got to make a difference. I guess it’s impossible for you to cut THEM some slack, huh? Get lost. The Tea party doesn’t need cowards like you in their corner.
It’s not cowardly to ask questions of those in power after he aggravated alot of folks unnecessarily. It doesn’t matter if we agree with Scott the majority of the time just so that we can “cut them slack.” People have had it up to here with photo-op politicians who exploit the good will of the people- this was a mistake on the Governor’s part, and he needs to make amends soon.
Ron Paul: “Free trade is an answer to a lot of conflicts around the world (not just Latin America, but also Cuba).
But we have NO obligation or authority to force our views of government or economies on anyone else.
We should build our own country so people want to emulate us, but we fail in this a lot.”
Ron Paul:”When we cut off relations with Cuba, we are only helping the evil governments.
Our actions may be well-intentioned, but they almost always backfire.
We help the dictators and hurt the citizens.”

Perhaps you can tell me how that HELPS the dictators? We can argue that it hurts the citizens (considering that WE don’t have any authority over them whatsoever – the dictators do). In any event – Ron Paul say things like this and they are accepted at face value by many. Yet I never hear a rational explanation of what the heck these things really mean.
It sounds like what I have heard from liberals my whole life and the kind of simplistic thing I might say as a young man. But I’m not buying it.
Bad Political Advice. Scott has left his Tea Party base as well as Liberty based Cubans. He thinks becoming a moderate will help him defeat Crist(D).
Repubs can not out moderate or out entitlement any Dimicat. Repubs in Fl Legislature have failed so miserably on E-Verify,limiting Sharia law,and will fold up on “Stand Your Ground” law in the next session.
Welcome to the new majority: Dimicats!
If you can’t be conservative or constitutional, What good are you in government?
NO COMENTS……………..
Everyone together….. Let’s hear those words. Governor Charlie Crist.
boy, you guys are sure fast jumping to negative conclusions. Back off and get all the facts people. Governor Scott is on the same team we are. Good lord we have more then enough Socialist and Unionized Public Employees to choke a horse plus an overly Liberal media. Stop and think what kind of a msg you are sending??
Maybe it’s time Governor Scott should consider what message he is sending. I dunno. Hey, we’re just a bunch of bloggers and commenters — not like we’re the governor, you know?
Quit poo pooing on Gov. Rick Scott. People from Broward are weird!
Start working together for the conservative cause.
I’ll give Gov Scott the benefit of the doubt. One of the best governors in the country, Gov Scott obviously wants to restrict trade with enemies as the Cuban and Syrian regimes certainly are. If there is a requirement to go through FedGov to effect the restriction then he had to do it, I don’t know. But neither do you know who are quick to not only judge but vilify our governor to the benefit of our leftist adversaries. Check it out first, then make your comments with some documentation.
I agree with George Our Governor Scott is one of the best, he is getting Florida in the right path.
The cuban community is upset now and I’m sure the governor did not handle this the correct way. But….come elections in 2 years we will be behind the republican candidate. We cannot afford a liberal democrat in office. That is just the way it is people.
Yes, Elizabeth, we will be behind him, we need to keep Florida Republican.
That is, of course, is he isn’t indicted for Medicare fraud before the next election.
No, you will be behind the Republican candidate, because you pull the lever for anything marked “R” and give the individual candidates a blank check to do whatever they want.
Real voters will judge the person running by the content of their character, no matter the R after their name.
WOW what a JOKE Scott pulled on all those COLD WAR era cuban retrograds ??? c’mon the law was against the US constitution !!! there is more freedom of speech in CUBA today than in MIAMI while you have those clowns in congress !!! HAHAHAHA when will the low IQ’s vote out those cuban – american self serving congressmen and woman ??? get some real people like Governor Scottt !!!!!!
[...] The Shark Tank asked the question going through everyone's mind after Florida governor Rick Scott pulled a baffling stunt this past Tuesday declaring HB959 unenforceable just an hour after he signed the bill into law: "What was Governor Scott thinking at the Freedom Tower?" [...]
