Senator Bill Nelson Co-Opted By Obama’s Extreme Agenda

May 13, 2012

By Javier Manjarres

Democratic Senator Bill Nelson finds himself in a quandry- unable to defend the failed Obama agenda that he has fully supported for the past four years, his last line of defense is to blame Republicans for causing partisan gridlock in Congress.  After receiving an award from SAVE DADE for his role in helping to end the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, Nelson stated the following-

Just turn on your TV and you will see the extremism, the polarization, the excessive partisanship, the ideological rigidity, the people who say, it’s gonna be my way or no way, all of the ‘right thinking people’, and that is what is happening in the body of politics today.  - Senator Bill Nelson

Senator Nelson makes a very good point in regards to extremism, polarization, partisanship, and ideological rigidity- all of those traits are the trademark of Nelson’s friend and boss, President Barack Obama.  It’s almost incomprehensible how politicos such as Nelson can lament the state of politics today, identify much of what ails our political class, and yet remain incapable of accurately identifying just who the perpetrators of such behavior are.

Jonah Goldberg’s new book The Tyranny of Cliches- How Liberals Cheat in the War of Ideas makes this point abundantly clear- liberals such as Nelson either are blind to the fact or refuse to admit that they’re pursuing their own ideological agenda, claiming instead that they’re just “doing what’s right” or “acting pragmatically”.  In fact, Nelson and President Obama are pursuing a highly ideological agenda that is rapidly expanding government control over the private sector of the economy in countless numbers of ways that before long will radically transform our society into a European-style socialist welfare state with greater numbers of people looking to the government and not themselves for their own financial sustenance.

If Senator Nelson were truly concerned about partisan gridlock or the fact that not much has been accomplished over the past year and a half, he can simply look down the hall at the current pile of bills that have passed the House of Representatives but have been intentionally blocked by Senate Majority Leader Senator Harry Reid, from whom Nelson takes his cues.

We’ll give credit to Senator Nelson for one thing- he voted ‘Nay’ on President Obama’s farcical 2012 budget.

Senator Bill Nelson is running for re-election and will likely face the winner of the current Republican senatorial primary race between Congressman Connie Mack and his former Senate colleague George LeMieux.

Let’s see: a senior senator cavorting with an unconstitutional-law passing President intent on coopting the national agenda with his pro-socialist “hate the rich and spread the wealth” propaganda. It doesn’t look good now, does it Senator Nelson. Are you going to sell the rest of Florida like your “cousin” who executed the “Cornhusker Kickback” that propelled Obamacare into a soon to be SCOTUS quashed useless piece of legislation? I can’t think of anything so damning as to play gladhand with one of America’s worst Presidents.

Hey George, how does it feel to side with a traitor of a president…your true colors are showing. CONNIE MACK for Florida Senator!!!

Billy Bob Nelson is running his “Aw Shucks I’m just one of you guys” charade for re-election.

It worked last time calling out the “Extremists” to be Repubs when nothing could be further from the truth………..

Repubs are Sheep…. Baaaa Baaaa. Demoncats have “evolved” into Marxists. and both are LIARS.

Rubio can’t even decide if the UN Law of the Seas Treaty is a violation of the Constitution! And he sits on the Foreign Relations Committee.
Castro supports the UN Seas Treaty so it must be beneficial, comrade.

I didn’t think that Constitutionality ever mattered anymore. Senator Rubio seems to have made up his mind, though:

      The Honorable Harry Reid
      Majority Leader
      United States Senate
      Washington, D.C. 20510

      Dear Mr. Leader,

We understand that Chairman Kerry has renewed his efforts to pursue Senate ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. We are writing to let you know that we believe this Convention reflects political, economic, and ideological assumptions which are inconsistent with American values and sovereignty.

By its current terms, the Law of the Sea Convention encompasses economic and technology interests in the deep sea, redistribution of wealth from developed to undeveloped nations, freedom of navigation in the deep sea and exclusive economic zones which may impact maritime security and environmental regulation over virtually all sources of pollution.

To affect the treaty’s broad regime of governance, we are particularly concerned that United States sovereignty could be subjugated in many areas to a supranational government that is chartered by the United Nations under the 1982 Convention. Further, we are troubled that compulsory dispute resolution could pertain to public and private activities including law enforcement, maritime security, business operations, and nonmilitary activities performed aboard military vessels.

If this treaty comes to the floor, we will oppose its ratification.

Three reasons to OPPOSE the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)

      (1) If the U.S. joins UNCLOS, it will be forced to transfer billions and likely trillions of dollars of royalties generated from oil and gas production on the U.S. continental shelf to the UN International Seabed Authority for redistribution to the “developing world.”

The United States currently enjoys sovereignty over its entire continental shelf, including the shelf that lies seaward of 200 nautical miles-the “extended continental shelf” (ECS). The U.S. has the right to exploit all the resources (e.g. oil and gas) located on the ECS and collect a 12.5-18.75% royalty on the value of production. According to the interagency Extended Continental Shelf Task Force, which is currently mapping the ECS, the resources there “may be worth billions if not trillions.”

Article 82 of the convention would compel the U.S. to transfer a significant portion of those royalties to the International Seabed Authority, located in Kingston, Jamaica, for redistribution to the “developing world” including to regimes that are corrupt and despotic.

      (2) If the U.S. joins UNCLOS, it will expose itself to baseless international lawsuits, including environmental actions and suits over “climate change” that would impose substantial political and economic costs on the American people.

Under UNCLOS any State party may compel another State party to defend itself in one of four forums: the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, the International Court of Justice, an arbitral tribunal organized under Annex VII, or a “special” arbitral tribunal organized under Annex VIII. Any judgment rendered by an UNCLOS tribunal would be final, could not be appealed, and would be enforceable on U.S. territory. The U.S. would become target #1.

Pacific Island nations such as Tuvalu have already indicated that they would file such a suit. If the U.S. suffered an adverse judgment in an UNCLOS climate change lawsuit, the tribunal could order remedies that would harm the American economy-a regime of regulations (e.g. actions to reduce the level of U.S. GHG emissions) and even monetary reparations to the plaintiff nations to mitigate the damages allegedly caused by global warming. Crippling costs to the U.S. economy would result.

      (3) U.S. accession to UNCLOS is unnecessary to preserve and protect the U.S. Navy’s navigational rights and freedoms.

For more than 200 years, including the 30 years since the adoption of UNCLOS in 1982, the U.S. has successfully preserved and protected its navigational rights and freedoms by relying on naval operations, diplomatic protests, and customary international law. U.S. membership in UNCLOS would confer no maritime right that the U.S. does not already enjoy. The U.S. can best protect its rights by maintaining a strong Navy, not by joining a deeply flawed treaty.

Let me put it this way folks…

Senator Bill Nelson is a Democrat, President Barack Hussein Obama is a Democrat, Senator Harry Reid is a Democrat. Are you better off today with these Democrats in office? Democrats have been instrumental in closing our space program and handing it over to the Russsians, are running the government without a budget, bypassing the House of Representatives using continuing resolutions to spend as much as they please and lose billions without any over sight. The National Debt is will be 16 Trillion before the election. Senator Nelson IS an extremist and a butt boy for our extremist president.

Take a pledge now to vote a straight R ticket. Vote for TRUTH and JUSTICE not for the LIARS.

Dear God what an IDIOT! Bill Nelson is a typical pathetic leftist who is in lock step with dictator wanna be obummer. Billy & Barry, the entire democratic Party, the “moderate” repubs, and every other marxist nut job- are 100% hell-bent on the “fundamental transformation” of OUR STILL GREAT Nation.

Hey boys, your transformation SUCKS and we want you the heck out of OUR White House and OUR Senate!

Nelson is such a dirtbag that when he used to live in Rocky Point which is just South of Palm Bay FL- he screwed my buddy’s lawn service out of several months of care, about $800 worth. Nelson said “Screw you I’m not paying you- get a lawyer & sue me”!
What a typical unethical punk leftist.

PLEASE people- let’s get this skum-bag out of our Senate & hopefully out of any office forever.
    He sickens me….

  7. JJ Cambell says:

The Attorney General and the DNI, both political appointees of the President, have the power under the Protect America Act to order any American to help them conduct their electronic spying against other Americans. Under the new law, if they order you to take part in their spying operations, and you say no, they can throw you in prison. If you do not keep their spying on other Americans a secret, even from your family, they can throw you in prison.

The Protect America Act institutes Big Brother government in the United States. It betrays American liberty. It is a shame that the Act passed. Shame on Senator Nelson for failing to vote against it.

Shame on Senator Nelson for failing to vote against the protect America act.
Senator Bill Nelson failed his Oath of Office, failing to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, failing to cast a vote against S. 2248, the FISA Amendments Act. The FISA Amendments Act makes the misnamed Protect America Act permanent. Even worse, the FISA Amendments Act makes it legal:

    - For the federal government to spy on you electronically
    - Reading your email
    - Listening to your telephone calls
    - Watching what web pages you visit
    - Following your financial transactions
    - Without any explanation of why they’re doing it
    - Without anyone outside of the Executive Branch knowing that it’s being done
    - Without oversight by Congress
    - Letting the government use information it obtains illegally
    - Giving telecommunications companies retroactive immunity for helping the government do this, even when it was expressly against the law to do so

When a President of the United States has this kind of power at his disposal, she or he cannot be stopped. The president’s power becomes total and the president becomes a totalitarian. Senator Nelson failed to show up and cast a vote against the FISA Amendments Act. Through inaction, he allowed the country to slouch toward totalitarianism.

Senator Nelson failed to cast a vote against the ironically named Protect America Act. The Protect America Act is a law now passed by both houses of Congress which replaces judicial warrants with executive prerogative and substitutes blank checks for reasons. The Protect America Act gives the Attorney General and the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) the power to spy on your emails, your web surfing, your telephone calls and other electronic communications. All this is carried out without a warrant, which is required by the 4th Amendment to the United States Constitution.
