Congressman Allen West’s Republican-turned-Democrat opponent Patrick Murphy is responding to West’s first campaign ad with the same tired Democrat talking points that accuse West of “childish name-calling, voting to end Medicare, and siding with corporations and Big Oil over the middle class.”
Murphy pleads with his constituents to send him money by the end of the week in hopes of pumping up his “rapid response” that will allow him to “go toe-to-toe” with Congressman West.
But like most other Democrats, hypocrisy is second nature to them- when West switched congressional seats earlier this year, Murphy called West a “coward” for doing so. So there was Murphy reverting to the “childish name calling” but conveniently ignoring the fact that he ran from his own contested Democrat primary race against Lois Frankel in order to have a clear shot without a contested primary to face Congressman Allen West.
Murphy and his Democrat buddies are all taking potshots at Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, yet Murphy would rather you not know that he donated to Romney back in 2008 while he was still a registered Republican. On top of that, Murphy complains about West “siding with corporations” but Murphy sides with his own corporations, including Coastal Environmental Services, his current employer, which just happens to be his father’s business where Murphy holds the title of Vice President. A South Florida group of LGBT political heavy hitters will host a fundraiser 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 23, for congressional candidate Patrick Erin Murphy.
Murphy, vice president of Coastal Environmental Services, which helped remove oil after the BP disaster last year in the Gulf of Mexico, is running as a pro-gay Democrat against GOP incumbent Allen West in Florida’s 18th Congressional District (the Palm Beach County area).
The bipartisan host committee for the event at City Hall – The Restaurant in Miami includes Stephen Herbits, Jerry Chasen, Florida Together Executive Director Michael Kenny, SAVE Dade Board Chairman Joe Falk, Juan & Ken Ahonen-Jover, former Wilton Manors Mayor Jim Stork & Ron Ansin and Andrew Tobias (treasurer of the Democratic National Committee.)
