Former Congressman and current U.S. Senate candidate Dave Weldon has announced that he has obtained the endorsement of the former U.S. Senator from Kansas and current Governor Sam Brownback. This endorsement adds to Weldon’s Citizen United nod from last week, and with George LeMieux bowing out of the Senate race today, it catapults Weldon to the #2 spot in the contested Republican primary Senate race.
Here’s Brownback’s endorsement-
“Dave will be a conservative hero in the US Senate. His expertise, sound principles and strong personal character will make him a uniquely effective advocate for Florida’s values and interests.”
Here’s Weldon’s statement-
“It’s truly an honor to have the endorsement of true conservative like Sam Brownback. Sam has been good friend and we’ve fought many battles for conservatism over the years. Like Sam, I realize our economic prosperity is inextricably linked to strong families. If elected I will fight for fiscal responsibility and remained engaged on all social issues – because limited government and strong families made this country great.”
