The Republican National Committee has announced that the keynote speaker at the RNC convention in Tampa will be New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
Huh?
Given that Florida is such a pivotal swing-state with a growing Hispanic community and electorate, you would think that the GOP would have chosen Florida’s own U.S. Senator Marco Rubio. (Source)
Does this mean that Marco is getting snubbed by the RNC? Not at all. It could actually be a signal that Rubio will have a more prominent role at the convention.
As Rubio is dominating all the VP talk from Dick Morris, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh’s of the world, is he ready for the bigger stage? Some close friends and associates have some doubts about Rubio and his remoteness since arriving in Washington, D.C. citing some forgotten gestures and lack of communication with some of his early supporters.
The VP position in this campaign will need to sharply attack President Obama’s record of failure and do so in a disciplined manner.
Rubio is likely one of the few potential candidates who remain on Romney’s short list, but does Rubio have the requisite fortitude to aggressively go on the attack against Obama day in and out? Rest assured, Obama & Co. will not pause from their false and malicious attacks, and whoever gets the nod had better be able and willing to stand up and affirmatively counter the torrent of BS emanating from the “Hope and Change” crew rather than stand around asking for apologies.

Rubio is presidential material for 2016. Probably it would be better for him to continue making his mark in the senate, and on foreign relations boards. He is certainly a great choice, I am just thinking of his future political career. He is a good, and charismatic man.
I wish him well either way. Fortunately the Republican Party has some excellent choices.
If the Republicans take the White house this year, Rubio wouldn’t get a shot at the presidency until 2020.
good words
Rubio will be the next McCain-Lugar. If you like Progressive Repubs then you will be happy in the NWO UN World. It’s not about PARTY, it’s about The Constitution and very little remains of it.
I gave money to Rubio early on as he made his Tea Party “crusade”.
That’s all over now and now he attacks Michele Bachman for questioning
Muslim influence /infiltration of government?
Rah Rah Rah Republicrats win again!
Right on yshaw!! It would be a demotion for Marco and leaves terrible vacancy void in the Senate seat from Florida. We conservatives need the 60 in the US Senate more than the victory of US Presidency. GOP has not had filibuster proof Senate majority since 1911.
Let’s see… Marco is the Republican parties superstar and the party loves him. Soooooooooo maybe Rubio is going to be picked v.p.?? Hmmmm??
We need Rubio now, we must win this election!
Go Mitt/Rubio 2012!
They snub Rubio .. and cut off their own noses .. I know the establishment isn’t embracing those of us who are TEA .. but they better realize they are NOTHING without US! I think it shows Christie is out of the VP running … hopefully Marco is not.
I watched Marco at a small local RNC meeting when he was 25 points down to Charlie Christ and counted out, I saw the fight and conviction to turn America around. when I heard him speak I knew he was the man we needed and said right then, that he should be our next VP. and then president. he is the anti Obama. Rubio all the way!
Sen Rubio helped build the taj mahal . The new courthouse that Florida spent million to build ? Judge Hawkes had to resign over this issue with all the corruption involved ? However Sen Rubio gets a free pass? This situation needs to be exposed and you will see the republicans are all about lineing their own pockets and the heck with the middle class Vote Obama 2012
**WARNING Obama administration “Truth Squad” propaganda** Take a good strong laxitive and believe what stays in. Go back to HuffPo, prog.
I get a real kick out of Republicans that ooh and goggle over a Guy that has done nothing. Marco Rubio did nothing for us Floridians as House speaker.Fact is as house speaker he and David Rivera conspired to make sure no Immigration reform bills would be brought to the floor.
He’s not even a Natural born citizen
More “Truth Squad” propaganda.
Christie is primetime speaker for Day 2 of a four-day convention. This was in no way a snub of Rubio or anyone else, but a thank you and compliment to one of Romney’s earliest and staunchest supporters (who can also be counted upon to give a no-holds-barred speech attacking Obama). This was Team Romney’s way of signaling that Christie had been ruled out for V.P. but had been rewarded with a prominent role at the convention. I expect Rubio is still under serious consideration, and will likewise get a major speaking role at the convention if he’s not chosen.
excellent adult observation.
Marco Rubio would make an excellent V.P. He’s young and he is a true conservative. He speaks for me.
If they want someone who can go out and attack Obama’s policies . .and use tons of facts without notes or a teleprompter, they should choose Allen West. He does this every day. And the people eat him up. Also, why would him (Rubio) being chosen as VP preclude him being the keynote speaker. The two have nothing to do with each other. I wish the REP leaders would stop pushing Rubio. He is not eligible, and don’t think Obama’s team won’t bring that up. If Obama’s father was Frank Davis, ( as many suspect he was) then Obama is eligible, and he will mop the floor with Rubio on that.
We don’t need Rubio on the ticket . . .not to mention that he has ruined his base in FL by proving he is not the conservative that they thought he was when they elected him. His Dream Act to give legal status to illegals is just one example of that.
“We conservatives” are having a hard time swallowing Romney as the nominee, he need to choose someone who is a true conservative as his VP choice.
Walker, do you know that 7 past Presidents parents were born outside the USA, including Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson, what about it? people should be more educated and informed.
Your two examples were covered by being alive at the time of the Revolution. The Constitution clearly states “a natural-born citizen” as one of the qualifications to be president. Rubio is ineligible. Go read up on what “natural born” means.
Marco’s ineligibility makes him the perfect choice for VP.
He provides cover for Hussein’s ineligibility.
By picking him, they will confirm that there’s absolutely no difference between the progressives wearing the red jerseys and the ones wearing the blue jerseys. They’re both on the same team. It’s just that the blue jerseys are the varsity squad of tyranny and the red jerseys are merely the slower, less agressive practice squad.
I can hear the establishment’s response to our objections already – “Constitution? We don’ need no stinkin’ constitution.”
As if Oblabber was qualified to be POTUS!!
Typo in my last sentence . . .should read, “he needs to choose”.
Sorry.
From the very first time I heard him speak, I told others that he was going places and that he would be a thorn in obama’s side. I am a long time supporter. I would be happy if he or Allen West were chosen as VP.
RUBIO=REAGAN
Ooh, I like this. Not an exact match, of course, but I like the fit a LOT.
I think Reagan was a Natural Born Citizen. It’s only a “small” matter of Constitutional eligibility for President and since the Demoncats trashed it why not give the Repubs their turn?
Why not just keep the Constitution under glass as a “historic document” and keep proceeding “Forward” to the glorious socialist future that awaits us all?
I didn’t leave the Republican Party, It left Me.
I love Marco Rubio! He is the perfect example of what is good about America!
Marco Rubio as VP pick for Romney will hurt not help in appealing to the needed Hispanic vote in the West & Southwest.
This is not a slam against Rubio, it has to do with the long tradition of distrust and dislike between those of Cuban dissent and those Hispanics of Mexican and other South & Latin America countries. Now there are some who would like to dismiss this fact as being anything other than the fact it is.
Personally speaking I think Marco Rubio has the ability to write his own ticket in his political career as long as he does not allow those in the GOP to try and benefit from his star power too early.
While I have not personally met Javier Manjarres, I have been told that Javier and Marco are BFF’s and I would ask Javier if the rumor of his friendship with Marco is correct; then I would advise Javier to give his friend a little advice and suggest he not allow himself to be pulled into the VP spot on the Romney Ticket not now.
Having worked a mediation efforts between Mexican and Cuban disputes and having work in Northern California as a Labor Mediations specialist I can tell you Rubio would hurt his chances of being the candidate in 2016.
Javier: Is there a reason a valid and factual reason why Rubio would not be a good VP Choice comment posted just 5 minutes agao got deleted faster than it got posted?
