(Pictured-Rep. John Mica with “soul mate” Sen. Barbara Boxer and President Obama)
Republican congressman John Mica’s questionable ties and working relationship with the Obama Administration and other notable liberal members of Congress could pose a big problem with Floridians just weeks out from the August primary election. Mica is locked in a tough race against conservative grassroots favorite Congresswoman Sandy Adams.
Mica has all but lost grassroots support as President Obama’s recently signed Congressman Mica’s “boondoggle” of a transportation bill that he authored with Democrat Senator Barbara Boxer, the longtime liberal congresswoman whom he refers to as his “soul mate.”
“I went to Beckley, West Va. — that’s where we held the first hearing. We went across the country. We did a bipartisan, bicameral hearing in Los Angeles with my soul mate, Barbara Boxer. I’ll do anything to pass this bill.” -Rep. John Mica (R-FL) (The Hill)
Could Mica’s porkish ways spell doom for his chances in August?
The Politico wrote a fairly detailed synopsis of the bill and pointed out the possibility that American jobs could actually be lost because of the legislation-
A decades-old law has ensured American-flag ships carry most of the food aid sent abroad. But a little-noticed provision in last month’s transportation bill eases that policy. It’s meant to save the government money but could come at a steep cost to America’s maritime workers — up to 2,000 jobs.-Politico

I think that Toop has something to do with it!
Rep. John Mica – a.k.a. the Father of the TSA.
I have known John since he first entered politics and he is a totally honorable man who is almost apolitical and has always worked across party lines for the common good. The Republicans should use John’s relationship with the Obama administration to their benefit since there seems to be no one else on the Republican side who has any relationship whatsover with Obama. At some point there is going to have to be a common effort on a bipartisan basis on major issues……could John be a key player in this?
Yes Comrade, “A common effort” is needed, In what direction? Tyranny? How does one “compromise” Liberty? Well the Repubs have shown us how quite well over the years and here we are today.
Enjoy the “change”, there is very little hope left in either party.
i agree. of course at this juncture, anybody but obama has become the national mantra.
SpecOp – that crossing the aisle stuff has always turned out so well for the R’s. Why is it that the left always wants us to cross the aisle but they can never seem to be able to do the same. At this point we can’t afford to cross the aisle to your way of thinking. You probably can’t afford it either. You just don’t know it yet. For the perfect example of crossing the aisle and the results incurred, I would refer you to John McCain.
Mica doesn’t give a rat’s ___ about his district, FL or this country. He’s all about himself, his career and future. So, no one should be surprised that he’s playing both sides of the aisle and snuggling up to the O.
For Mica, it is all about POWER: controlling the sheeples, money and perks. Putz.
Thanks for bringing up Mica—- a true RINO — This guy must go– he has been pushing transportation pork for years. Cutting into the Jones Act is a give away to the China Shipping industry, at the same time china industry insiders are calling for a program to only allow Chinese vessels “made in China” to call at Chinese ports. Mica is as “anti American” as a Republican can get with out turning communist or unionist.
Bill Young (R) Pinellas County could give Mica a good race for the RINO Award.
Vote Darren Ayres for congress in the Pinellas primary.
sandy adams is a genuine patriot and is going to win.
Sandy JUST opened her campaign office! Mica has outspent her and is out-campaigning her so far. I hope she can get her message out in such a short period of time.
Out-spending? Undoubtedly.
Out-campaigning? Not so much.
I participated in a campaign walk for Sandy Adams this weekend; good turnout of volunteers, positive response from citizens.
Maybe that’s why he put out a flyer that “stretches the truth” — “http://factcheck.org/2012/07/florida-primary-flier-frames-republican/”
I’ve always liked John, but it appears he has been in D.C. more than a little too long.
I’m from Florida and you can bet on the fact that RINO Mica does NOT get MY VOTE!!!!!
Calling Barbara Boxer a “soul mate” is like a confession of treason!
Flagler voters were ready to dump Mica. Now we are supporting Ron DeSantis to represent Flagler and St Johns County.
John Mica is a strong conservative leader that leads on what needs to always be a bi-partisan issue: transportation. You’ve got to get things done in Washington and he is a leader among Republicans and very honorable.
KC, u have not been doing your homework.
