Wasserman Schultz Waiting for “More Favorable Political Environment” to Roll Back Gun Rights

July 30, 2012

By Javier Manjarres

During an interview with the Editorial Board of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz indicated her willingness to further scale back 2nd Amendment protections once she believes we are in a “more favorable political environment.”

For liberals such as Wasserman Schultz, that typically means immediately in the wake of horrific mass-shooting events violence such as the one that occurred two weeks ago in Aurora, CO.  But since we’re in an presidential election year, Wasserman Schultz knows that it’s just not feasible now to propose new gun laws.

Wasserman Schultz didn’t elaborate exactly on what new restrictions she’d want to enact- we always here about liberals fetish for “common sense” gun laws while conveniently ignoring the hundreds of pages of federal and state laws already on the books that already constitute “common sense.”

I commend President Obama for recognizing following the Tuscon shooting that there are gaping holes in the current law that allowed people who would do others harm that shouldn’t have had guns or ammunition to be able to get it.  Focusing on closing those loopholes…that’s what’s important.”

Banning ammunition sales over the Internet will only cause ammunition prices to go up- and it won’t do anything to stop criminal activity.

Wasserman Schultz referred to the National Rifle Association as an organization that is “so extreme” and has “strayed so far from what they were originally intended to do” that is “just an extension of the Republican Party.”

*Note-The Sun-Sentinel Editorial Board also interviewed the five Republican candidates vying to challenge Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz this November. The Board recommended  Karen Harrington, because they feel she has the “most compelling, contrasting vision versus Debbie Wasserman Schultz.” (Source-Sun Sentinel)

Remember: Obama said, “We’re working on [gun control] under the table right now,” and then Fast & Furious came to light.

Debbie probably bought the bullets for Holmes and gave him a ride to the theatre.

Your favorable environment came and went dumb dumb. Not going to happen, even some dopey librals like guns.

Now, let’s agree on one thing first.
Assault rifle type weapons only exist to slaughter human beings.
Correct? You can target shoot with them, sure, but that’s the basic reason they were created.
Do we need weaponry that deadly in civilian hands?
I don’t think so. A simple pistol is more than enough to “defend one’s home”.
Rifles and shotguns for hunters, great, most hunters are incredibly responsible gun/rifle owners.

The problem is not that the streets of America are awash with heavy firepower that never should have gotten there is the first place.
Yes, the old argument that then criminals will only have guns.
Then, caught with an assault weapon on the streets, 10 years in the slammer.

Please remember that the Second Amendment calls for a “well regulated” militia which does allow the government to regulate the ownership of weapons especially if you consider that a high tech weapon of the day when the Second Amendment was written was a muzzle loaded musket.

All this crap about needing these weapons to “over throw the government” is just an adult wet dream. In America, we overthrow the government at the ballot box, not the gun shop. Our system of checks and balances should not allow our government to ever become “tyrannical” except in some citizens over-fertile imaginations.

Rich, you post exposes a profound misunderstanding of the 2nd Amendment and YOUR obligation as a citizen.

In 1982, the Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution issued a report on The Right to Keep and Bear Arms. It is perhaps one of the most exhaustive and definitive works ever published on the subject. It’s pretty clear that the Founding Fathers would INSIST on EVERYONE owning and being proficient with an assault weapon. You can read the report here: http://www.constitution.org/mil/rkba1982.htm

      • I feel differently, Sir! This government has broken the public compact by not passing a BUDGET as required by a 1974 Congressional Act. This is indeed a REVOLUTIONARY period, and the “fundamental transformation of America” will most certainly meet fierce resistance! Do not tell ME or anyone else how much firepower I may need to defend my home, let us decide.

Please watch this little video and look at the faces of Charles Schumer and others while this woman lays it out for them! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77_BzTO7X0E

If an angry mob was coming at your house (*like in the LA Riots) you’d have every right to stand your ground and use one (or more) of those so-called “assault rifles” to take out every single awful person attacking you.

      • Fork says:

No.. “Assault style weapons” exist for ME to protect myself.

Dont like them? Too damn bad. Over 12 million Ar15s have sold since the Assault weapons ban expired. Its not going away any time soon.

        • Mike Hathaway says:

12 million is an interesting number. The left is so protective of 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. – heaven forbid we actually started deporting them all. But they would eagerly rid us of 12 million ARs.

12 million illegals v. 12 million assualt weapons – which kills more people in the U.S.? Hmmm….

      • fasdfasdfasd says:

Hey dibshit rich then the 1st Amendment does not cover modern speech. So I guess you can’t say your opinion on the computer.

  7. How The World Really Works says:

I am absolutely 1 trillion % sure that the supposed Colorado theater massacre and many others were carefully staged “hoaxes” for the purpose of facilitating anti gun rights legislation. I am not kidding one tiny bit. One trillion percent IS NO UNDERSTATEMENT. The BEST professional actors (people you think you know) are employed at every stage of the game. Everything is planned out in detail well in advance and many “news reports” are filmed or taped IN ADVANCE of the staging of the event and its aftermath. Do you think that Hollywood actors, politicians and the news media are too ethical to do such a thing? If you do you are absolutely wrong. Just one tiny piece of evidence: here is TOM CRUZ in the role of “Dr. Bob Snyder” giving a report on the “condition of the victims” in the Aurora hospital:

  8. Keep Gun Crime Down says:

If most able-minded citizens had a weapon, the Aurora, Colorado madman wouldn’t have got off more than three shots. Many lives would have been saved. Now criminals and mentally sick can shoot with impunity when they want to. Let’s set up one state — I propose Florida or Colorado — and encourage that state’s citizenry to acquire a gun.

Anybody want to bet that gun crimes don’t go down?

Her comments show why liberals are dangerous: they have an agenda and they pursue it with unrelenting fervor bordering on the religious. They never go away.

washedbrain schultz can kiss my azz, nothing but trash dump it.

  18. Perseids says:

In the workers paradise these neo-marxists envision one thing must occur to ensure implementation of their “plan”. The People must be disarmed and beaten down to a state of apathy or desperation. Barry seems to favor desperation.

If they can trash what’s left of The Constitution it will be game on. I can recommend boning up on Stalin and his “governing” style and perhaps refresh or acquaint yourself with the great Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s efforts. His works should be mandatory reading in our alleged schools.

I can only respond to useful idiots such as the specimen at the top of this page with a well worn challenge, Molon Labe.

  19. Liz says:

Hours after being elected Obama, Debbie and the rest of the dems are working on killing the second amendment.
