Clearly worried about his prospects for re-election, Democrat Senator Bill Nelson is hitting the airwaves early with the first of what are likely to be many negative attack ad targeting Congressman Connie Mack. With Nelson unable to cross the 50% threshold in any recent polls and carrying the burden of the Obama agenda around his neck, Nelson is pressed to go negative rather than defend his record against his presumptive general election opponent.
Mack has been leading Nelson in most recent polling excluding the latest flawed Quinnipiac poll that oversampled Democrats in Florida, and Mack has largely been successful as painting Nelson as a “lock-step liberal” who has supported all of President Obama’s unpopular and failed policies.
Mack’s campaign sent over the following response to Nelson’s attack ad-
“Bill Nelson is doing what every desperate losing candidate does – smears his opponent as hard as he can. After 40 years of being part of the problem, it’s pathetic. “Bill Nelson cast the deciding vote in favor of Obamacare. Also true. Which matters more to voters? Bill Nelson – Liberal and pathetic.” – Connie Mack for Senate Campaign
Expect this race to get progressively more negative after the primary. Nelson is in real trouble if his campaign strategy is to go “heavy negative” against Mack, and rest assured, you won’t see any mention of Nelson’s support of the so-called “Stimulus” plan or ObamaCare in any of Nelson’s campaign ads.

Politifact ruled Mack’s claim about Nelson being the deciding vote is false but Mack has no integrity so he sticks to his lame brained meme.
Connie Mack is about as dumb as politicians get, yet he struts around like he deserves to be coronated as Senator without debating his rivals, giving interviews to the media, or even showing up to vote on important issues and do his JOB.
If he can’t be bothered to vote as a Congressman why should we vote for him for Senator?
Republicans really screwed up getting behind this empty suit.
Dah!! it took 60 votes to get Obama care going and all the demos has was 60. each democrat is responsible vor being the 60th vote. If Nelson said NO there would be no Obama care.

Unfortunately we here in Fort Lauderdale know Connie all too well and know that he is a joke and a spoiled party boy. Not sure what is going on with the party getting behind this guy.
He certainly does not have the family values that we aspire to, we saw what he did to his wife and kids and it was dreadful.

If it matters to anyone Colonel Mike McCalister looked good for Fl Senate to me. His plan is to oppose Obama plan and take America back.

“McCalister is the answer”? He’s the answer to who is the candidate without any principles. He wrote a book in 2010 in which he was a strong supporter of a major AGENDA 21 program. He now claims he’s against AGENDA 21 and was ignorant of it previously. He also claims that his degrees make him more qualified to be U.S.Senator, but he was obviously not smart enough to see the problem with AGENDA 21. Thousands of Floridians, many without degrees, have recognized the destructive power of AGENDA 21 and have been fighting against it for years. McCalister’s degrees do not indicate how smart he is or how much common sense he has.
McCalister also wrote in his book in 2010 that he was against offshore oil drilling and he’s now claiming that he’s in favor of it.
Let’s not forget that in the same sentence on page 7 of the book he wrote in 2010, he says he’s both Pro-Choice and Pro-Life.
McCalister has been searching for conservatism the last few years and it continues to elude him, as it will elude all unprincipled candidates.
Oh, please, Jim. Romney was a liberal and now he’s conservative. You should know that non-establishment political hopefuls such as MariElena, define themselves as they become more aware to the important issues. Col. Mike McCalister fought against Agenda 21 before MariElena even thought about entering the Senate race. She know this, yet she keeps telling everyone that she is the ONLY candidate who fought against Agenda 21. You should thank Col. McCalister for helping MariElena with her platform, since I have personally witnessed you (or her husband if you are not her husband) video taping him speaking. This election is actually about JOBS and the economy. Col. Mike has a PH.D in Business management. MariElena does NOT have a college degree. Bill Nelson has a degree from YALE. Enough said.
Nice try “Susan”, but this campaign is not about who has the most college degrees as you and McCalister want, since that is all he has to offer. Barack Obama has multiple college degrees, as do all of his advisers I’m sure, as well as Bill Nelson. Look at what the “smartest” people have done to this country. This is not to denigrate all with degrees, but that can not be the basis for electing someone to office and expecting good results.
Apparently you are not aware that MCCALISTER IS ADMITTING THAT HE KNEW NOTHING ABOUT AGENDA 21 THREE YEARS AGO, which doesn’t explain HIS BOOK OF TWO YEARS AGO IN WHICH HE SUPPORTED A MAJOR AGENDA 21 PROGRAM.
McCalister dug himself a hole with that book he wrote in 2010, and no amount of spin by him or you will enable him to climb out of the hole.

If Nelson would have voted against Obamacare then it would not have passed. What is so tough about that logic? Esentially, every senaor that voted for it in his own right had cast the deciding vote.
Checkmate.
Politict is run by democratic party activists so of course they rule any attack against democrats is untrue.
But the fact is without Nelson’s vote Obamacare would not be law today.
Senior citizens would not be faciong 500 billion in medicare cuts,middle class taxpayers would not face billions in tax increases, working class Americans would not face massive premium increases, people of faith would not face the government demand they close their business or violate their faith.
Deciding vote or not, Yahoo voted for Obamacare, just like he’s embraced every other Obama trainwreck policy. He needs to go now! Reid has tried to spare Dems from having to vote by doing things like withholdong a budget for over 3 yrs. If anyone wants to nit pick GOP ads, try all the blatant lies 99% of Dems’ ads have.

Nelson is above all a party man. If Reid and Obama say they need his vote, they have his vote. Nelson will grunt and groan and tell us what a tough decision it is, but when it becomes time to cast his vote, it suddenly becomes clear to him the proper vote is to do what Reid and Obama want.
If Obama had his constituents in mind, he would never have agreed to legislation that take $.5 trillion from Medicare to spend elsewhere when Medicare is already in financial trouble.
Bill Nelson is a weasel (and that is being unkind to weasels everywhere).
It is clear that Bill Nelson is in trouble going up against Connie Mack. His side kick in Orlando was none other than Bill Clinton.
Vote for Connie Mack to get rid of Bill Nelson, once and for all.
Other candidates are great people but name recognition will be very important and Connie Mack has that name. VOTE
Connie is a very lucky man………..he has absolutely “wonderful parents” and for the sake of our country, the Republicans need to “take over the Senate”. But for these two “facts” Connie, Jr. would get few votes……….and, I’m an old Republican who was here and politically active when the Democrats controlled Florida. Connie, Jr. is truly “an empty suit” who is short on intellect, integrity, loyalty to his family (former wife and children) and honor. Basically all Connie has done in his life is to be born to “the right and wonderful parents”. I have the same high regard personally for Bill and Grace Nelson as I do for the senior Mack’s…………all four of these people are “class acts”!!!! Connie, Jr. is not in the same league with any of the four. My wife and I just voted for Dave Weldon…we would have voted for Bill Nelson, but he has simply voted wrong on key issues…Sorry Bill!!!!
I hope everybody is paying attention. “Special Operator” had to decide between BILL NELSON and WELDON.
LIBERAL newspapers are saying nice things about WELDON and reporting that he is “thoughtful” and willing to get things done (like voting for TARP).
He promised his constituents that he would only serve four terms in the House and stayed for seven terms (CAREER POLITICIAN). The excuses he has for that deception continue to add up.
He is once again promising term limits if elected. CAN ANY PROMISE WELDON MAKES BE BELIEVED?

What state does Mack live in? FL that elected him, DC metro where he works, or CA with his wife?
– just curious, a similar question about Nelson. Remember it came out that Richard Lugar, the IL senator, hadn’t lived there for 30 years. Rick Santorum, PA senator, didn’t live in PA when when he was serving.
Sorry Lugar was from Indiana non IL. I really know better.
