Who says Republicans don’t care about Democrats?
At the September meeting of the Broward Democratic Executive Committee, Republican Congressional candidate Karen Harrington went right at the Democrat Party’s base, when she stopped by unannounced and caused a frantic, yet quiet buzz around the room.
Harrington stated that the reason why she attended the event-
If I am elected to Congress, I will be representing all voters of Florida’s 23rd congressional district, regardless of whether they are Democrat, Republican or Independent. I am here to introduce myself to my possible future constituents.”-Karen Harrington
For the most part, the Democrats in the room were well behaved and showed Harrington a great deal of respect, considering that she had broadsided them by attending their meeting. DBREC Chairman Mitch Caesar and his Executive Director stated that it was a public meeting and Mrs. Harrington was welcome to attend, but could not speak or promote her campaign.
Harrington, as you know, is running to unseat Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Caesar also told us that Harrington was “looking for a confrontation.” But this did not turn out to be the case, as Harrington engaged several members of the Democrat party, most being very receptive and wished her well.
Aside from the one “Teabagger Karen Harrington” remark, there was only one overzealous Democrat supporter who stuck his camcorder in Harrington’s face, telling her,”We love Debbie Wasserman Schultz here, we would die for Debbie Wasserman Schultz.” To Harrington’s credit, she showed tact, restrain, and was respectful of the man. He later gave up his jihad of “bashing” Harrington, but not after stating some priceless democrat fear-mongering accusations. Watch the video.
You are doing all of this voter suppression against the Democrats, and I bet you like the idea that elderly women have to have ID’s now, that don’t even have money for food, and then they have to go to a county building to get an ID to spend their last money, just so they can vote….we do not believe in your right-wing ideology, you people want to lie, cheat and steal this election.”-Man with camera mounted on a tripod
Two veteran Democrats, who asked if they could opine on Harrington’s visit off camera, expressed great dissatisfaction with Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz, and when asked if they were going to vote for Harrington instead, they shrugged their shoulders clearly indictating that it was very good possibility that they would.
Four other members of the Democratic Party gave Harrington kudos for making such a bold statement of showing up, but only after saying that “This was a Democrat event, she should not have come.”
They agreed that Harrington comported herself respectfully, and wished that if Wasserman Schultz were to visit the Broward Republican Executive Committee (BREC), that the committee would treat her with the same respect that Harrington was showed.

I hope Romney is looking at this. This Gal has some balls. This is what I’ve been saying Repub males have to grow balls like our conservative repub Gals; Palin, Bachman, and now Karen.
Way to go KAREN ! No doubt many of these demis in DWS’s scared district haven’t given a single thought to the fact there IS an alternative to being a sheep of the queen of rhetoric. Oops, that would be Princes of Rhetoric, after all she hasn’t dethroned Nancy P yet has she? And with great hope never will. As for the camera man….well, really hope it never gets to ‘dieing for’ just please, slither away with the soon to be EX congressperson.
What a good idea! She WILL represent all citizens; I wish more politicians would realize this. What a gracious thing to do.

If DWS attended a BREC meeting, I feel sure that she would be given GREATER respect than Karen Karrington was given . . .because I feel certain that there would not be anyone following her around with a tripod mounted on their shoulder . .hurling insults and hateful remarks at her. The man with the tripod is a hate-filled, fact-deprived, mean spirited person. He was rude, and he was ugly. People who act like that often feel threatened . . . .. .wonder why he felt so threatened by her attendance?? She only acted cool and gracious.

I wonder how the Israeli’s feel about her using their ambassador (who vociferously it) saying he said the Republicans are putting Israel in danger. Now look at recent statements by Romney on how he does not approve of a Palestinian state, reasoning it would put Israel in jeopardy with their trips to Iran. I don’t see any Democrat backing up Israel.

Mr. Cameraman, if those poor old ladies that you’re concerned about needs to cash a check, open a bank account, drive, get on an airplane, cruiseship or enter a federal or county building for jury duty…they would need to produce a picture id….is respecting the integrity of the election process of less importance? I have friends on both sides of the aisle, and NOT ONE of them thinks that producing id to vote disenfranchises ANYONE. Even in Iraq they put your index finger on a purple stamp pad to protect the integrity of their elections….WOULD YOU RATHER USE THAT PROCESS???

If the Dems and Holder’s Injustice Dept spent as much time and money on seeing that the peeps got ID’s, this would be a NO Issue. Besides, doesn’t one have to have ID to get gov’t perks – housing, food stamps, Medicaid and the like?

Well, how about that. Sounds like the beginnings of a town hall meeting of sorts. I would hope this type of cordial behavior continues on both sides. One thing’s for sure…some mutual respect certainly can’t hurt. Maybe we’re all on the right track…finally. Let’s home this extends to the next Congress. It’s high time to get things done.
as was stated in comments….no matter what you do in life, you need some sort of ID…if you do or don’t drive, there is an ID for you..there are pics and names on credit cards, and no matter what you do , you need an ID…so, who the heck are these “old ladies” that don’t have an ID…it is arouse, to let any one or any dog, or any dead person the right to vote…felon, or drug dealer, or illegal, etc….it is not right..and if the democratic creep that carried the camera around thinks his comments will get rid of Ms Harrington then he is mistaken…So, granny get your damn ID card!!!

As a Democrat I am ashamed how that fellow Democrat treated you Karen. I just want to say that not all Democrats are like that I thank you for stopping by and meeting with us. You have a lot of class!
So people can’t afford picture ID for voting but they can the Obamacare mandate? Ok.
The video guy made a point. All these people that do not have ID’s must go to their local government office to obtain an ID. Since the guy sterotyped the person without the ID as low-income, then the following would happen:
Purchase bus pass (run by the county government;Bus driver is also paid by the county government)
Fill out ID information (counter clerk paid by county government)
Pay for ID information (money goes to the county government)
Request financial aid for ID (paperwork provides work for clerk paid by the local government)
So, the Republican’s do care about the government and want to keep the clerks employed.
Actually, if DWS was to attend a GOP function the question shouldn’t be if the GOP would show her respect (I’m sure they would, we are terminally polite that way) but whether DWS would show the GOP members the respect that Harrington showed the Democrat members. This I doubt. DWS can’t open her mouth without lying about something, or throwing a snide verbal hand grenade at someone she disagrees with.
I would like to ask DWS what the legislative pension is that she or her husband gets from the State of Maryland, that she reported on her financial statement to Congress. Anyone know?
What was Karen’s purpose for going to this meeting? Was it to start a confrontation? She had no other purpose. Karen is trying to be heard, but no one is listening. Better luck next time.

Debbie has been hiding…get back to Karen..regarding cameraman, Karen will be a Congressperson for everyone…she wants to responsibly balance the budget..cut spending..support Israel..create jobs..get people working……Karen is a “go-getter”, and will do all of this!!

If DWS should play copy cat and show up to a GOP event with a camera, please people, don’t be stupid enough to mistreat her in any way. Give her a big smile, tell her you disagee with her political ideology and wish her the best.
It’s good to know that Karen is aggressive enough to win that she drops in to show Democrats that she wants their support.
A far cry from the ultra-partisan DWS who has had nothing but venom for the other humans over at Republican meetings.
