This is the Way “Forward” – Gov. Scott Nixes ObamaCare Healthcare Exchanges

November 9, 2012

by Lone Shark

There’s one path “forward” for Republicans if they’re serious about reclaiming power in the future- do not capitulate to the failed ideas and destructive economic policies that President Barack Obama will assuredly quadruple down on in the wake of his re-election.  It’s one thing to win an election by misleading and bribing the masses, but let me be clear, as Obama would say- in no way, shape or form did the president win a national debate on the merits of his policies- and his policies, when they are fully implemented will undoubtedly cost us jobs, raise our taxes and further strain our already cash-strapped state budget.

Governor Rick Scott is showing the way forward if Republicans want credibility as the clear alternative to the statist interventions that Democrats offer, as he’s declined to implement the state health insurance exchanges that were mandated with ObamaCare.

From the Sarasota Herald-Tribune:

Speaking on the New College of Florida campus following a meeting of the state’s university governing board, Scott said it will cost taxpayers and business owners too much to expand Medicaid and set up health insurance exchanges as called for under the law.

“No one has been able to show me that that health care exchange is going to do anything rather than raise taxes, raise the cost of our companies to do business,” Scott said, adding that expanding Medicaid would also require tax increases.

If you’re curious to check out some first class stupidity about our state’s budgetary constraints as well as some general ignorance about how the health care system should “work,” check out the comments below the article.

Works for me. Long past time states (all 57 of obama’s) stood up for their/our constitutional rights. So much of our educational system is totally dysfunctional do to DC’s over reach, mandates(unfunded no less)etc. Yeh, our health care should be another national mindless bureaucracy.
Feds should just concentrate on protecting our boarders though great job they do of that too.

  2. SAM SPADAFORE says:

YOU GO GOVERNOR SCOTT…..DON’T LET OUR STATE SUFFER BECAUSE THE IDIOT LIBERALS….

  3. P says:

Thank God for Governor Scott. There when he is needed. Knows what to do.

  4. Agatha Keeler says:

I think Florida should follow the design of Texas and Louisana and exit the union. You know, the only way to handle a bully is to call his bluff!

    • Jonah Frost says:

Agatha, I agree, but the problem with that is Florida went for obama due to dade county. We’d have to put a fence around South Florida from palm beach county to below Collier.

  5. Elaine says:

Let’s have a vote on Florida going with Louisiana to exit union! I’ve had enough of distribution policy and the dictator.

  6. Georgianna says:

    Exit the union

  7. Julian from Florida says:

I agree with the Governor exchanges are a waste ….so why is Florida creating it as we speak. Look at http://www.myfloridachoices.com this is an exchange in every way. If its a bad idea for democrates it a bad idea , Governor let’s stop this wasteful project!!

  8. sherry says:

I am behind gov. Scott all the way. People need to wake the Hell up.

  9. Roger Van Aman says:

I agree totaly with Agatha Keeler. Until we can get rid of this ILLEGAL, Marxist, Socialist, Muslim, “DICTATOR WANT-TO-BE”,and get someone who truely loves this country, all it stands for and knows what it takes to make it what it used to be, we should exit the union.

P.S. All of the above Adjectives are proven true and black and white correct.

  10. Linda says:

100% with Governor Scott! Exiting the union would be an excellent idea.

  11. Dot says:

I agree with Gov. Scott, ObamaCare will be very expensive and medical care will be much harder to come by.

  12. JBorneman says:

Am a Florida alum and my son is currently attending. He calls me daily with news of new “Down with Capitalism” meetings of the openly Marxist groups. These groups seem to be encouraged by the administration. Scott Walker needs to read everything he can re “nullification” if he intends to follow through defying 0care. It is the only legal way. God help us all now.

  13. FloridaGirl7 says:

I am behind Governor Scott 100%. We must all support him

  14. Larry Joseph Morgan says:

    Give ‘em hell, Rick!!!

  15. mel says:

    Thank you, Governor Scott.

  16. p. schwartz says:

Thank you GOvernor Scott. You are right on. We can still defeat Obamacare if others think like you. Also, why not pressure the House Republicans to defund Obamacare altho I know it wont pass the Senate but it will send a message. There must be other ways to emasculate it.
I hope and pray that other governors take your example and show the Admin
that the PEOPLE do not want Obamacare as they have indicated time and time again. It was a completely partisan act, not a single Republican voted for it, that tells you something.

  17. Lorraine Smith says:

Secede before it’s too late. Obama has a plan to destroy America so let’s get out now.

  18. Corky 1 says:

Secession from the union due to unfair taking of our taxes and states rights, is what started the War of Northern Aggression 150 plus years ago. However, it seems that this is an acceptable idea, to escape the claws of socialism from our soon to be president for life, Barack Hussein Obama. I think in the coming months there could be a call to arms to stop the confiscation of our firearms by the United Nations Troops with the approval of our “Dear Leader” The U.N. Small Arms Treaty. Read it if you can. It is a frightening proposal. But I have thought about troops going into New York City and Los Angeles and persuading the gangs to give up their guns. It aint gonna be pretty. Of course, adding to the United Nations Troops, it could be our own troops that come after the guns. How many in the Military would fire on their own citizens ?

  19. Mary Mortimer says:

Way to go Gov Scott. We are so fortunate to have a common sense business man in office. Now when we leave the union we should all be o.k.

  20. Ape says:

Where is the form to sign Florida’s secession from the union? I want to sign it.

  21. Eric Fredrickson says:

Hey, how can we get our governor to do the same: i.e., what procedures to follow, who to contact, what kind of wording is necessary, etc? Our governor is kind of wishy-washy, but I believe with the right pressure in the right places, he could go along with something like this.

  22. Joanne says:

I can only hope that all the governors follow Gov. Scott. Judge Roberts is partly to blame for the healthcare mess America is left to deal with, but he doesn’t care because it won’t affect him!
