It appears that when and if President Obama puts this whole ‘fiscal cliff’ issue behind him, he will focus on taking a pound of flesh out of gun rights and will try to effect his “Hope and Change” immigration agenda. According to the President, a bipartisan deal to keep the country from going off the ‘fiscal cliff’ is “close” to being completed by the Congress.
President Obama has tapped Vice President Joe Biden to lead a ‘task force’ to look into gun control, and Democrats in the U.S. Senate have already threatened to pass legislation that would further hinder the gun rights of Americans. Now we are seeing an new ideological alignment between Obama and Mexico’s new Socialist President Nieto with the ongoing illegal immigration issue that will become the hot topic issue in the coming years.(Obama’s Amnesty Pact)
”Fixing our broken immigration system is a top priority,” he said. He renewed a pledge to introduce legislation in the first year of his second term to get it done.-Reuters
But while the Republican party continues to consider compromise/surrender on these two issues, and no to mention that it is still trying to find itself after suffering a devastating election night loss, there has yet to be an clear cut Republican alternative to the Democrats misguided message.
What will be the likely Republican response to Obama’s next initiatives in 2013? How are leading Republicans like Senators Marco Rubio and Rand Paul going to respond to these initiatives?
Rubio is considered to be the top choice to be the next Republican Presidential nomination in 2016, so perhaps that is why his name is being thrown around to be the ‘savior’ of the ailing GOP? Flashback to 2009-2010, when these same Republican establishment politicos were eager to defeat Rubio in his Senate race, and are now realizing that Rubio could very well be their political meal ticket in the very near future.
Rubio & company should let the GOP sink or swim on its own, and re-focus their pro-legal immigration ideas, as well as continue their strong position of support for gun rights.
