President Obama’s strong-armed Presidency continues to goad Republican members of Congress, some of whom appear to be at their wits end with latest questionable power grabs and his recent refusal to negotiate with the Republican caucus on the looming debt ceiling issue.
Sophomore Congressman from Florida Steve Southerland is another strong critic of the President and his questionable governing practices. According to the Congressman, President Obama “got what he wanted” during the fiscal cliff negotiations.
Southerland told the Shark Tank that “the President is not a champion for hardworking men and women of this country,” and added that for “the President to get what he wants, he’s got to raise taxes on the middle class.”
The President says one thing and does another, the President is not a champion for the hardworking men and women of this country, you don’t strap them with debt and deficits as far as the eye could see. The President to get what he wants, he’s got to raise taxes on the middle class. To get what he wants, which is a government-centered society he doesn’t have any choice, and I think that the debt ceiling stance that he’s taking ‘I’m not going to negotiate, I just want you to give me what I want’ sounds like an irresponsible college kid. – Rep. Steve Southerland
