After Nancy Pelosi made her infamous “we have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it” remark in the run up to the passage of ObamaCare, only the most idealistic political observers continued to believe that lawmakers actually read the legislation they ultimately vote on.
For the most part, congressional staffers and interns are given the task of sifting through bills that are sometimes comprised of hundreds of pages of text. While most members of Congress are given summaries of bills or skim through their text, there are a few members who actually read the longest of bills.
Take Florida Congressman Bill Posey for instance. Posey took the time to read through the entire first House bill on ObamaCare, aka the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act back in 2010. According to his staff, Posey read the 2,000+ pages of the bill in four days!
The actual copy that the congressman went through sits prominently on his desk, almost like a badge of honor. Posey deserves some sort of citation of merit for making it through the entire stomach-churning piece of legislation. Share the post below.

Posey’s got a good conservative voting record, too.
Most in Congress probably find reading difficult – We have staff for that! We have advisers to tell us what to say, do and think. We have lobbyist with check books to guide us properly in the right direction.
Bill Posey is one of the most honorable men I know. Having worked on his campaigns since we addressed envelopes ny hand, I KNOW he would never vote on a bill he had not read himself. I have seen his desk in Washington….and that bill is there complete with dozens of sticky notes marking pages he undoubtedly had questions on or wanted more information. I love you Bill…and so does everyone I know!!
