One of the rising Republican stars in the U.S. Congress is Congressman Ron DeSantis from Florida, a Yale University graduate, who ran in an open and safe Republican in 2012.
DeSantis, who calls himself a “Reagan pro-defense Republican,” was asked about his thoughts on the up coming Sequestration debate, in which the freshman congressman stated that the total levels of the cuts in Sequestration needed to be kept in place, but added that the military should “sub out the defense cuts, because its a disproportionate impact on defense.” He then added that even if cut are made out of the defense budget, the country will continue to “run major deficits.”
DeSantis also reiterated his belief that the Pentagon should be open for audit, citing that Republican Senator Tom Coburn has also called for an audit of the bureaucracy that is the Pentagon.
The Pentagon is a bureaucracy too, and I do think that there is a sense that the bureaucracy does sap away from some of our readiness and some of the money goes in to red tape and other things that would be better served with the war fighter. Tom Coburn has said we need to audit the Pentagon, you actually required to do it by law, we’ve never done it.
As Republicans, we should want to do that (audit the Pentagon) and not just say the Pentagon is a fortress that no one can look in because by the nature of bureaucracies, they tend to expand, they tend to get involved in things that not consistent with the core mission-Rep. Ron DeSantis

Spot on. We should be willing to audit all govt agencies to ensure efficiency, productivity and root out waste. I’m pro defense but that can’t blind me to the fact that the Pentagon is notorious for waste.
I hear you and agree! The problem is, a while back we’ve already found out the Pentagon cannot account for over a triilion dollars in spending. Since then, things have been quite about it and nothing happened to it. Just like Obummer’s illigal allien relative that was busted a while back, Fast & Furious, Bengazi, account for all the “green money” that was spent, etc…: nothing happened, nothing will happen and the media will not address it anymore.
Unless the Media stay on the issue, nothing will happen and they will continue with the corruptions.
It was once stated “necessity is the mother of all inventions”. I say stop giving our government any more money, let our nation default in our debt, and watch the brillance come on on how to reduce spending and live within our means. Sorry folks but it will take a drastic incident before they are serious about how to stop spend our money.
I hope that Cong. DeSantis becomes a major THORN in Obama’s side and in the side of the RINO’s. We need more like him and less eclairs. It will be tough…remember what happened to Cong. Allen West.
GO RON!
What exactly “happened” to Mr. West other than the voters got tired of his big mouth and idiotic statements?
Rich can’t handle the truth. Congressman DeSantis beat a long list of challengers by knocking on doors in 3 counties. He speaks the truth and will become a leader in the Republican Conservative party as has Senator Marco Rubio. This country is witnessing a shift in both foreigh and domestic policies that will destroy our country. I am proud to have supported this fine young man and hope one day that Rich, will see the truth and the light.
