So how important is Florida’s 2014 gubernatorial race to the Republican party? Here is a little known fact for you to digest- the Republican Governors Association (RGA) has quietly appointed one of Florida Governor Rick Scott’s 2010 campaign staffers to head their political team.
The RGA has just installed Kenny McKay as its new Political Director. McKay was a ‘special projects’ manager of sorts, overseeing and tying together several different aspects during Scotts’ 2010 campaign.
This is a key appointment, as Scott is expected to face a tough re-election and top Democrats like Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz have already stated their intention to oust Rick Scott from the Governor’s mansion. For the RGA to insert McKay into this important position shows that they’re very serious about Rick Scott’s re-election in 2014. More on this to come…
