The Miami Herald’s Marc Caputo is reporting that there could be a “possible pro-Democratic, anti-Rubio bias within the Spanish-network Univision’s Doral headquarters in light of the recent attack on Senator Marco Rubio posted by a staffer of a Univision executive on Facebook.
A deep rancor towards Rubio at Univision has been in play for quite some time. According to an anonymous source within Univision, their intention is to continue to marginalize Rubio as that of a token Cuban-American who is out-of-touch with the “real Hispanic” community.
Back in the summer of 2011, Univision aired an offensive dumpster-diving investigative report on Rubio that highlighted his brother-in-law’s past cocaine arrest and imprisonment- a piece that likely aired because Rubio turned down a request to interview on the network. Rubio has always made himself available for interviews and commentary to this very same Miami-based Univision office where he was previously employed as a conservative political commentator while he was still serving in the Florida House of Representatives.
This anti-Rubio bias seems to have originated with Univision hiring of Isaac Lee as its President of News. Back in 2011, an anonymous source who worked closely with Lee gave us a little insight on who Isaac Lee really is.
“Lee is nothing more than a drama queen,” and questions Lee’s honesty and ethics regarding the attempt to blackmail Rubio as well as his overall journalistic standards, or lack thereof
“This was just Isaac throwing a temper tantrum because he didn’t get his way, he needs to remember that he is only a News Director, and nothing more.”-Source
Rubio had also turned down requests to interview with Univision anchor Jorge Ramos because of his questionable interview tactics as well as his strong support of amnesty for illegal immigrants. When Rubio finally did interview with Ramos, he did what Rubio and many others expected him to do- focus on illegal immigration and attempt to make Rubio out to be “anti-Hispanic”-the same modus operandi of the Rubio’s leery foes in the Democrat Party.
The folks at Univision and their Democrat sympathizers are trying their hardest to frame Rubio as being ‘anti-Hispanic’, their cuddly way of telling their audience that Rubio is really a self-loathing Senator with an identity crisis. As Rubio’s national profile continues to grow in stature, he can expect more of this type of nonsense- the left and their media acolytes are desperate to take the shine off Rubio’s star knowing full well that he has the ability to effectively communicate the truth about the Democrat agenda to Hispanics in a way that returns the Democrat Party to permanent minority status in this country. Shark Tank, 7/12/11
Here’s the screed posted on Rubio’s Communication Director Alex Burgos’ Facebook page by Univision’s Angelica Artiles-
Oh. wow, the loser is going to speak after our President…Anything to get publicity. Ask him to do us a favor and stay home that night (SOTU).
Tell Marquito to stay home with the Snow White and the other six dwarfs . His career as a politician is o-v-e-r. He is the token slave boy chosen to look like a fool, once AGAIN. Makes me laugh.
I call him Marquito because of his size, I don’t know him personally, but I have suffered his biased, and mafia-styled tactics, so I will say what I please. This is a free country, and the Tea party is out of office.
Let’s analyze this unprofessional attack by Artiles that speaks poorly of her employer for a moment.
Artiles says that she calls Rubio “Marquito’ because of his size. Rubio is about 5’10″, about average height- why exactly did Artiles chose to ridicule Rubio’ about his height? Perhaps it’s because Artiles’ boyfriend, according to her MySpace account, is well over 6 feet tall. Maybe she’s simply not a fan of smaller guys, but nevertheless, she’s making a personal slight towards Rubio.
Artiles then says that even though she doesn’t know Rubio personally, she has supposedly “suffered his biased, and mafia-like tactics.” Come again? What pray tell could Artiles be referring to? Was there an incident that occurred between the two that hasn’t yet come to light?
Much more likely, Artiles was hyperventilating with glee as she uncorked her smarmy hyperbolic rant. Unable to register some thoughtful criticism of Rubio, she then reached for the old reliable “mafia-like tactics” smear to caricature somebody that she disagrees with politically.
We’ve already got Godwin’s rule when somebody invokes “Nazis” during an argument- are we now in need of a new rule for when somebody mindlessly invokes the “mafia” as well? The “Artiles Rule” perhaps?
Is Artiles confusing Rubio with another Antonio- as in Antonio ‘ Tony’ Montana?
Amateurish lefties such as Artiles are still giddy over their electoral victories last November, but all they’ve really “won” is bragging rights to and ownership of an economic decline that has inflicted some real pain suffering upon millions of Americans–including the nearly 10% of unemployed Latinos who Artiles can’t see from within Univision’s offices.
The takeaway from all of this foolishness is that Univision remains in cahoots with President Obama the Democratic Party and the rest of the progressive Left. They all fear Rubio because they know he has the capability to outmaneuver and out-message Democrats on immigration and halt amnesty agenda by articulating an alternative proposal that is pragmatic, fair and will ultimately resonate with a clear plurality of Americans.
