Democratic Senator Joe Manchin appeared on Fox News’ ‘Special Report with Bret Baier’ where he called President Obama’s recent declarating of war against ‘Big Coal’ “irresponsible.”
Manchin told Baier that a “war on coal” would be “devestating, not just to West Virginians, but to all coal producing states, but basically to the economy of the United States of America.”
“When some says a war, why don’t we have a war on the sluggish economy, a war on jobs growth, a war on competitiveness?”- Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV)
Manchin questioned how President Obama was going to change the minds of the 7 billion other people around the world that are currently using some 7 billion tons of coal.
They are declaring war on jobs, on american jobs… The coal industry has been the backbone of America-Senator.-Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV)
Earlier in the day, Senator Marco Rubio sent out his thoughts on Obama’s ‘War on Coal’-
President Obama has repeatedly abused his executive order authority because imposing his big government agenda is more important to him than respecting our Constitution and encouraging private sector job creation. This time, President Obama is discarding the Constitution and free enterprise system in the name of a job-killing environmental agenda. We must do everything we can to stand in his way.-Senator Marco Rubio
