The Reid Retort

As we actively swim throughout the progressive channels of the netroots here in Florida and across the country, the Shark Tank will every now and then find some chum that is worth bringing to the surface before we devour it whole.  Tonite’s piece of red meat is served up fresh by the Reid Report, as they were busy discounting the serious threat of Radical Islam and nitpicking about Allen West.

Here’s the money quote:

One thing West did say that is true, is that what we have to worry about is “an ideology that is totalitarian, theocratic, political and imperialistic in nature.” It’s called the American right wing.

One of the things we like to do here in the Tank is juxtapose left or “progresssive” thinking/perspectives vs. right or conservative thinking/perspectives from the blogosphere up close and personal and completely in context, so that you, dear reader, can make the determination whose logic, ideas, and conclusions closer approximates the truth.  Over at one the left’s most influential communities of part-time pundits, a fellow going by the handle of “BlueTexan” has identified what he thinks is some clear cut “hypocrisy” of the part of Marco Rubio. In it he states that Rubio is “strongly against amnesty for immigrants who are not his parents” because his parents were “granted amnesty”, and also that Rubio “thinks we should forcibly deport 14 million people from the country.”

Alan Grayson- Wrong, Again.

Over at the Progressive Coalition Blog, Mark Weaver offers advice to the newest progressive hero, Alan Grayson-

Okay, so it wasn’t quite the best word to describe the ex-Enron lobbyist now plugging the Federal Reserve as a woman who sells her services as a corporate/banking shill…Problem is the rightwingers will never stop trying to use Grayson’s, or any of our words, to discredit us. Grayson’s apologized. Now it’s time to hit back.  Grayson needs to go full bore public right now explaining the point he was making with that word. I’m sure he can do a better job than I can, but he should slam home the point that the woman is advocating for a self-serving, interest-conflicted banking “regulator” that enabled the reckless, greedy practices that led to the financial collapse and mild depression we are in, specifically throwing 8 million people out of work. Alan, YOU NEED TO MOVE ALL THE TALK FROM ‘THAT WORD’ TO THIS POINT. Refocus the public’s minds to the proper place. Now’s REALLY the time to fight back.
