David Rivera Chimes in On Support for Rick Scott and GOP Unity(VIDEO)

August 29, 2010 Florida Review 5 Comments

by Javier Manjarres

Miami GOP Party boss and Congressional nominee in FL CD-25 David Rivera has taken the lead in supporting Rick Scott for Governor and helping to heal Republican wounds from last week’s statewide primary bloodbath. Rivera is coming off a landslide victory in his own primary race, and is poised to take on Democrat Joe Garcia.  Garcia had previously run for Congress in 2008 where he lost to Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, and he is a staunch supporter of President Obama’s socialist agenda.  Rivera is known for his hard-nosed political style as well as for his uncanny ability to raise money and reach out to voters. … Continue Reading

During the 2008 Presidential campaign, Governor Charlie Crist defended Governor Sarah Palin against naysayers who expressed doubts as to Palin’s ability to lead were something were to happen to a President John McCain, stating that Palin was the only one with executive experience and that “she is ready”. … Continue Reading

Florida GOP’s Call for Unity Could Fall on Some Deaf Ears

August 29, 2010 Florida Review 4 Comments

by Javier Manjarres

After handing a devastating defeat to the Florida GOP Establishment, the State GOP almost immediately called for “unity” with conservative outsider and businessman Rick Scott.  Those same politicos who were adamantly hoping for Scott’s demise had not even finished their first serving of ‘baked crow’ before looking to make amends with Scott and offer their support to this candidacy, but such is politics.  As we reported a few days ago, RPOF Chairman Thrasher visited Scott and several other McCollum supporters, including Adam Hasner, Mike Haridopolous and Dean Cannon, who all  extended their warm congratulations and support to the winner.  The RPOF, as well as all down the ballot Republican candidates will need Scott’s help because of the fact that the state party is near broke and will not be able to offer the usual support  to both state and federal candidates without a little ‘help’ from Mr. Scott. … Continue Reading

Florida GOP Extends Olive Branch to Rick Scott

August 26, 2010 Florida Review 9 Comments

by Javier Manjarres

Earlier today, Florida state GOP Chairman John Thrasher flew to Fort Lauderdale to meet with Republican Gubernatorial nominee Rick Scott to extend his and the RPOF’s support for him after Scott defeated Bill McCollum in Tuesday’s Republican primary election. The RPOF had openly criticized Scott and his campaign for contrasting McCollum to ex-party boss Jim Greer in both television and print advertisements.  Scott’s victory on Tuesday sent shockwaves through the GOP establishment due to the fact that the Party and its top politicos were strongly backing McCollum.  This episode also amounted to another blemish on the RPOF for interfering in yet another contested primary by trying to shove the McCollum campaign down the GOP electorate’s … Continue Reading

Marco Rubio Wins GOP Nomination for U.S. Senate

August 25, 2010 Florida Review 3 Comments

by Javier Manjarres

It was a close primary race for Marco Rubio last night,as he narrowly beat his two primary opponents by a measily 85% of the vote (just a little Sharko Sarcasm there). Rubio, flanked by his Wife Jeanette and 4 rug rats, addressed the 200 plus patrons that showed up to his victory party and wished him well on his journey to win the U.S. Senate seat this November. The Shark Pack was present to witness the festivities of the Rubio victory and was able to catch a few priceless moments with the Rubio clan. … Continue Reading

Rick Scott Wins; McCollum and RPOF Lose

August 25, 2010 Florida Review 21 Comments

by Javier Manjarres

Last night’s Gubernatorial primary victory by Rick Scott of Attorney over General Bill McCollum was proof positive that endorsements and unfair play by the GOP establishment does not carry the same weight and influence that it once did. The ‘establishment’ and the RPOF shelled out millions of dollars in an attempt to resuscitate McCollum’s flagging campaign over businessman Rick Scott  in this contentious primary.  What was most questionable was how the RPOF put so much of its own money and resources into the race, and now as a result may not be able to support other down the ballot candidates around the state.  This is not good news to the candidates who have won their races and were hoping for RPOF support in the upcoming November elections. Congrats Rick!!!!!! … Continue Reading

August 25, 2010 Florida Review 8 Comments

by Javier Manjarres

As predicted by me, EL SHARKO, Karen Harrington has won the Republican nomination in Florida’s Congressional District 20.  Harrington was able to maintain a consistent 5 point lead throughout the evening, and that lead held up at the end of the night.  Harrington will now face Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz  in November’s general election.  Harrington became the frontrunner in the Republican primary after businessman Brian Reilly stepped away from the race several months ago. Congratulations Karen, job well done! … Continue Reading

Shark Tank Interview-Rick Scott (VIDEO)

August 22, 2010 Florida Review 9 Comments

In this final weekend before the 2010 primary election, I caught up with Gubernatorial canididate Rick Scott, and I was able to get him on the record about a few issues that have become more pressing in the waning days of the campaign.  Scott has just blitzed the airways and print media with a scathing attack on McCollum that contrasts him with ex-GOP boss, the indicted Jim Greer. In my interview, Scott addresses the Solantic issue, talks about creating jobs, McCollum’s relationship with Greer. and discusses what he believes is wrong with the State Republican party. Scott also talks about what he will do to change the Republican party, if and when he becomes Governor of Florida and the head of the state GOP. … Continue Reading
